More than a year ago John Savage and Alyssa Moore nearly lost their lives after discovering the Temple of Eden. Now, two more temples have been discovered: The Temple of God, which holds the answers to mankind’s inevitable fate, and a third temple that houses Earth’s future once mankind has been eliminated. As John and Alyssa find themselves in a life and death struggle against hidden dangers within these ancient sanctuaries, they become the keys that would either serve as mankind’s salvation . . . or condemn them to the dark fate that was prophesied within the Temple of God. But when they reach the halls of the third temple they awaken something that’s been lying dormant for centuries. Programmed to protect those who sit upon the Thrones of Eden, these sentinels are one with the darkness and the protectors of a new regime. They are the saviors paving the way to a new future and the promise for mankind’s destruction. But the only ones who stand in their way, the only two who can provide any hope of salvaging the future of mankind, are John Savage and Alyssa Moore.
Rick Jones was born and raised in the Boston area and moved to Las Vegas in the early eighties where he graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a degree in English. Currently, he is employed with the state of Nevada in law enforcement, and enjoys traveling, especially to Rome and Vatican City where many of the settings for his novels take place.
Rick Jones is also an avid writer and the creator of the Vatican Knight series (VATICAN KNIGHTS, SHEPHERD ONE and The ISCARIOT AGENDA), and the psychological thriller, THE MAN WHO CAST TWO SHADOWS.
He lives in Las Vegas with his two mini schnauzers, Wrangler and Hobo.
These series remind me somewhat of the older Preston and Child stories. I really enjoy them and I've grown fond of the characters. Only four stars, however, bit very much potential.
Alyssa & Savage head back to the destroyed site of Eden when a competitor of her father’s finds evidence there of a tunnel that may that lead to more chambers, or even a whole buried city. But this leads them to even greater dangers than Eden. After more riddles and traps they find that humans have an expiration date.
It’s interesting that even though Alyssa was brought along for her language knowledge that it’s Savage that solves the riddles. Great team. But toward the end, I found myself confused, wanting to root for both sides to win and not sure how that could happen. Then Alyssa brought up her final theory.
Footnote: 1) When javelins start flying from the wall the best option is to get down and crawl across to the other side, just like the ‘Penitent Man’ in ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. Also when you have to walk across a narrow bridge, lower your center of gravity and crawl.
Fave scenes: the mathematical symbol riddle, the elemental riddle, the scarabs escaping the fire and the Guardian’s respect for Savage.
I really like the concept of this story and will continue following the story of Alyssa Moore and John Savage in future books. However, I sincerely hope that the author puts more time and attention toward his writing skills and proof-reading/editing. Investing in a thesaurus wouldn't hurt either. If the grammar and editing were better, I'd have no problem giving this author four or five stars for the books in this trilogy.
What an adventure this last book in the 3 book series brought! Better than watching an Indiana Jones movie...this book was nonstop edge of the seat action! Well written and very well researched. You couldn't help but feel you were right there in the middle of the story with the characters! I do hope there is a 4th book in this series. Highly recommend reading!
This story brought the series to the end as it would appear, but in reality, the fate of mankind could still be at risk. You are left wondering what John Savage is thinking.
This book takes the Ancient Astronaut theory to a whole new level. It tied the events of The Menagerie (Eden book 2) in rather well, although mostly through the readers conjecture. The author leaves quite a bit to you to figure out, he doesn't serve all the answers up on a silver platter. The good news is what he does give you is so well written and thought out that you will find yourself wishing you'd thought of that. This book was awesome.
An interesting end to an interesting trilogy, when the End of the World looms only John Savage and Alyssa Moore can stand in the way of it. I won't spoil anything, but when a powerful threat from the past threatens our future, nothing will remain the same as an unlikely team of heroes band together to keep us from the edge of oblivion.
This is the third book in the Eden series. Unfortunately, the plot is a bit stale, sort of like the bag of salad greens that have been in the refrigerator three days too long. I still find the premise intriguing and original, and the plot moves along. But Mr. Jones should have stopped at book #2.
