Your Bed or Mine?
Welcome to Woodbury a subdivision in the burbs where desperate housewives do desperate things. Ask Zada Clark. Zada appears in divorce court expecting to get a quickie divorce from her spur-of-the-moment marriage to her hunky ex-marine husband - a man she thought was Mr. Right until she realized Rick's first name should have been ALWAYS. Not exactly known for her own ability to compromise, their short marriage has been a disaster. EXCEPT in the bedroom. Zada insists there's more to marriage than just great sex, and wants her divorce. Now! But when a brawl over the house and the dog breaks out in the courtroom, the disgruntled judge rules that Rick and Zada have ninety days to reach a compromise or face serious repercussions. Them?

It’s supposed to be funny, but I didn’t smile or laugh. More appropriate for a TV sitcom. Not enough emotional development.
STORY BRIEF:
The book begins at the courthouse. The couple expects the judge to decide who gets the house and dog. The judge does not grant a divorce. Instead he “orders” them to make their own decision within 90 days. Rick still loves Zada and doesn’t want the divorce, but he doesn’t tell her that. Zada is holding onto a grudge and won’t forgive or forget. Rick’s attorney suggests they live together during the 90 days. Somehow they end up taunting and challenging each other and agree to live together with the idea that one of them will get fed up and leave. The one who stays wins the house and dog.
Rick likes neatness so Zada overdoes the messiness hoping he will leave. Zada gets turned on just by looking at Rick. He hopes he can tempt her with thoughts of sex.
A second story is the neighbor Alicia who is divorced and has no female friends. She wants friends badly. Zada is part of a threesome of girlfriends who spend a lot of time together, evenings and during the day. Alicia wants to be part of the group. She flirts with Rick to make Zada jealous. She then tells Zada that she will leave Rick alone if Zada includes her in the threesome.
The threesome claim that once a week they meet for a “Housewives Fantasy Club” where they tell each other their sexual fantasies. They never told fantasies. They just said they did. But now in this story they have to tell a few to keep up their cover story. They also tell some fantasies to mess with Rick’s mind.
The second story about Alicia is a major part of the book, almost equal to the Zada and Rick story in time spent.
REVIEWER’S OPINION:
One of the fun things about romances is watching a relationship grow. With this story’s premise we don’t get that. So I would hope that the rest is interesting, clever, or funny, but it didn’t do anything for me. It felt like TV sitcom writing. Not enough emotional development. Rick is likeable and honest. Most women will love him. I had no desire to know Zada. She is unlikeable.
I was not engaged or entertained. There were a few sexual fantasies told, but they were not sensual or hot. They felt more like bait to get the reader to buy the book.
Apparantly Rick and Zada had a fight over something minor six months ago. Rick left the home and stayed elsewhere. Since Zada’a father had left her mother when she was young, this is the worst thing to do to her. She will never forgive a man who leaves her. Later in the story they have another disagreement causing Rick to leave (the typical romance formula). The cause and resolution felt contrived. Someone sends false evidence to Rick about Zada. It is not true, but he believes it. Instead of Zada offering proof, she makes a big deal out of wanting Rick to blindly trust her without the proof. I didn’t like her actions. It was an unreasonable demand. I was shaking my head and saying “come on Zada, give a little, care about somebody else for once.”

Your bed or mine is a a well written, funny book with well developed characters and an good balance between silliness and seriousness.
Zada Clark is a feisty children's author who was abandoned by her father as a child and Rick Clark is a strict military man raised in a military home who runs a bomb dog training facility.Zada and Rick have been married for a year and when the story begins, Zada and Rick are at the courthouse to get a divorce. While they both agree that they need to divorce because they can't live together, the disagreement comes when they decide who will get custody of their blind dog Simon and who will live in the $800,000 house they had customized so that Simon could live an normal life.
When they go to the courthouse to get the divorce, they are met by a judge who is appalled by the fact that they are being so immature. Instead of giving them a divorce, the judge chooses to make Rick and Zada work things out on their own and gives them 90 days to come to an agreement in reference to who will get the dog and the house. Zada and Rick decide to fight each other the whole way on the matter and pick the house they lived in as their battleground.
Zada decides to give Rick a welcome present for when he returns to the house by having a messy house which she knows drives him crazy because he is a neat freak. Rick then turns the tables on Zada and proceeds to messy up the house even more that Zada has a chance to do any further damage.With the help of Zada's friends as well as Rick's friends, Zada and Rick realize that they are still in love with each other and are just being stubborn.
Rick and Zada are stubborn and the different antics they play on each other will make some reader laugh and will annoy other readers. Both characters also have issues which contributed to why they feel how they do about marriage. Zada comes from a family where her father abandoned her mother but her mother took him back so Zada has abandonment issues and she views taking back a man who's walked out on her is a sign of weakness. Rick was raised is a home where his father was a military man and his mother didn't really stand up for herself.
Overall, "Your Bed or Mine" was a fun entertaining story and a quick read.

I am finally done reading Your Bed or Mine? By Candy Hilliday. I so enjoyed this book. it took me a long time to read. it was so funny and romantic about a couple While they both agree that they need to divorce because they can't live together, the disagreement comes when they decide who will get custody of their blind dog Simon and who will live in the $800,000 house they had customized so that Simon could live an normal life. Instead of giving them a divorce, the judge chooses to make Rick and Zada work things out on their own and gives them 90 days to come to an agreement in reference to who will get the dog and the house. Zada and Rick decide to fight each other the whole way on the matter and pick the house they lived in as their battleground. I give this book 5 stars and a 10. A fun and good read.

Okay i'm a sucker for sappy romance novels and yup i fell for this one hard. I loved Zada and Rick i guess because maybe i'm as immature as they both are? whatever i can't wait to read about Alicia!

It was recommended by a friend and I found myself disliking the book strongly. Not my cup of tea.
