So amazing that this book was written in 1991, and although things are not happening as fast as Burkett thought, the events he predicted are right on the money. Pun not intended.

Great, although subsequent events proved his timing off by twenty or thirty years.

Judging by the current economic mess in the U.S. Burkett's expectations were right on target.

This is really 4 1/2 stars. I only rate the Bible 5 stars and if not for that it would be a 5. Larry Burkett did an excellent job of explaining our current economic position in the United States in turns that a layman can understand with grafts that will astound. The National debt is so out of reach of being reduced or retired that I recently heard a politician say we should go ahead an default on the debt because we will have to soon or later. Larry Burkett gives a fictional account of what defaulting on our debt might look like. Not good to be sure. If you are like me, you would never consider defaulting on a debt you have agreed to pay in good faith. Like me too you, think before you borrow unlike our government.

I recently saw that every tax payers share of our national debt is $294,000 I believe that should give you pause. The options for reducing that debt with our current and even previous government does not seem to be possible and I am an optimist and believe God is in charge of all things and directs our steps personally and governments.

Reading this 30 years after it was written offers a stunning comparison between where America was, financially, in the 90s and where we are now. Burkett was convinced that America's economy would not sustain further insult and injury in the 90s, so to say that he would be shocked at how much more in debt we are is an understatement. It is altogether sad and terrifying to see the decline of America, in regard to finances, that has taken place since this book was written. Neither our elected officials, nor the vast majority of the American populace, have the desire or the backbone to change America's course, and surely we will experience another major depression, or something worse.

Burkett's advice to the average American to get out of debt as quickly as possible remains wise advice, even if the majority of Americans do not heed it.

Dated, not the most modern approach, but the money management principals are still sound and helpful.

Even though this book was published in 1991, the authors viewpoint is valid today in 2024.

While the data Larry reviews led him to believe this would occur in the 1990s, we are seeing it happen now! This is a must read for anyone trying to figure out today's economy and what's going on.

What can one say, the man was correct. He had a prophetic word. And we are living out what he said nowadays.

A book of the Year 1992, but still relevant for today's economic chaos.
