Rate this book
Lola McInnis has hit rock bottom after catching her fiancé cheating with his personal trainer. In a desperate attempt to make a fresh start, she sinks the last of her savings into renovating two houses in an up-and-coming Atlanta neighborhood, but the project hits the skids when her contractor bails.

Enter Van Kane, burned out drummer for the red-hot rock band Ten Addict. Van has no business pretending to be a contractor, but the idea of getting back to a simpler life and getting his hands dirty with the luscious Lola has him volunteering to help.

It’s not long before the two of them end up between the sheets; but can Lola keep her heart out of the equation? And how long will Van be able to keep his rock-and-roll life a secret?

Over all 3 out of 5 stars.
This is a promise review from a contest win. (Thank You Dana and Liz for the chance to read ‘Hotter In Atlanta’, a first read from Liz Talley! SO excited!

What’s Hotter In Atlanta? Bod-a-licious drummer Donovan “Van” Kane and southern pistol Lola McInnis’s chemistry!

Lola has been burnt in the worst way and there’s nothing like throwing yourself and your savings into a work project to end things and begin things. But things turn upside down when Lola’s contractor decides to do walk about.
Sinfully delicious drummer Van Kane is also burnt….out. Sure rock- in-roll is a career almost everyone dreams of, and even though it still is Van’s dream, it isn't all high notes.
Perhaps having Lola in his arms will help him forget his woes or maybe it will help him to remember who Donovan really is.

~ ~ ~

Even though this isn't really an original plot, it was a really fun read. This is a short story; it wasn't too short to enjoy the chemistry between Lola and Donovan. Ms. Liz gives us two great characters that are believable and the dialog is fantastic. It’s so hard to find a book where characters sound like you and me. Even with the potty mouths (growl) it didn't take away from the story. Where as too much is yuck and too little is …church, this was just right Goldilocks!

The reason this is a 3 star for me is because it was a fun easy read, great length. I would have really enjoyed it more if I could see the main characters in a romantic scene more often than reading the character recalling it.. Seeing a scene and reading about a character recalling it, isn't enough. I wanted to see more of the relationship growing. Then again it is a short story. Overall it is definitely worth the read. The $1.99 is fairly priced and I would recommend this for any beach read. Can’t wait to see and read more of Liz Talley.

Sweet, Spicy Second Chance Romance

This was a sweet short story of a second chance romance. A designer needs help with the two houses she purchased to flip when her brother leaves her high and dry with no contractor. A rock drummer on a trip back home is intrigued by her and tells a fib to help her out. What made this story was the excellent performance of narrator Jill Redfield. She beautifully handled the southern accents and brought the saucy heroine to life. Her narration was gorgeous, smooth as silk and pleasing to listen to. A sexy short, sweet tale, beautifully narrated.

I really enjoyed this strangers to lovers romance. Lola was done with men and relationships, that is until Van became her new contractor. Van needed a change from his band and went into incognito as a building contractor and wanted to get close to his new client Lola who was not having anything to do with him. Their time working together brings them closer until Van’s true identity comes out and things take a turn for the worse for these two and Van really wants Lola to understand and forgive him and continue to be together. I really enjoyed their ending!

Short and sweet and sexy. Lola is trying to recover from a cheating boyfriend and she is doing that by rehabilitating two properties but she needs a contractor. Her prayers are answered but something is not right about him, his clothes are all too new. He is taking some down time from his band but what is going to happen when his life comes back to find him and Lola finds out he has been lying to her about who he is? This one was good and glad I stumbled on it!

Review

She depended on her brother as a contractor but he off on a gig . A guy who assumed the title of contractor her her in a coffee shop and said he could do the job but come to find he wasn’t a contractor but he did call around and found one to do the job. She offered a bedroom in her apartment while the job is ongoing because he is a good looking man. Although he isn’t a contractor he is a drummer in a band who are on hiatus and he is interested in her.

not bad for a fast read

It’s not long enough to develop the characters good in my opinion. I didn’t really care for Lola and the dialog at times made me cringe. Some may like it but it wasn’t for me.

Great quick read for that weekend away or that in-car listen on a road trip (which is what i did). Loved all the characters. Paced well for a short story. (And narration was excellent). Worth your time. Will look for more by this author.

Lola is trying to make a fresh start after she caught her fiance cheating. She has took all her saving and is trying to flip to houses to prove to everyone and her self she is ok. While it starts out smoothly her contractor has to quit and now she has to find a new one and one who can keep the houses under her money budget. When she meets Donovan she is immediately attracted to him and he is a contractor who can help her out. What she doesn't know is he isn't a contractor but actually a rock star hiding out. Van is ready for a break and on his way back home meets Lola. She intrigues him from the start and even he knows it is wrong but he pretends to be a contractor to get closer to her. He wants to forget he is famous for a while and get back to working with his hands. As the two come together things seem to be going great until Van's past catches up to him.

This was a quick read but one that I really enjoyed. Both Lola and Van are great characters and they have so much sexual tension between them. I love how the author gives you both Van and Lola's point of view. Both are really in some ways starting over while Van's is just a break he is trying to sort his head out and get to a better place. They both start off thinking it will be just a fling but as they work together it becomes so much more.Van is trying to keep his being a rockstar secret and finding it hard to do. They really at times seem like they have been together a long time. Van is so amazing and hot but my favorite thing is when he talks about his growing up. He knows how to throw on the charm. There is a lot hot scenes to enjoy as well. They both know what they want and go for it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a steamy story with great characters.

Hotter in Atlanta by Liz Talley is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger and a happily ever after.

So Lola has been betrayed be her sleazy, cheating fiancee. Her solution to getting over the betrayal? Move to Atlanta and flip two houses with the last of her savings.

Van (AKA Donovan) is disenchanted with his rockstar lifestyle. His solution? Pretend to be a carpenter and keep his rock god persona secret from the beautiful Lola.

Can Lola handle yet another betrayal when she discovers he is famous? Can she open her heart to love again? Will she be able to sell the two houses she has invested everything in?

A fast-paced, often funny, sometimes sad, and wonderfully steamy. Lola is take charge and goes after what she wants and Van is quietly commanding and lives to please Lola. A wonderful tale and my first by this author. I look forward to reading more!

Thanks to Liz Talley and Tasty Book Tours for the chance to read this story. This is the first book that I have ever read from this author. I enjoy finding new authors to read.

This story was perfect for an ending to a snow day here in WNY. Hotter in Atlanta is a steamy romance that involves strangers, a secret that has the potential to ruin what Van and Lola were building. It's a quick read, so this review is short since I don't want to give spoilers away.
