The Bible is still the best book ever. It contains wisdom, insight into life and God’s plan for us. It contains romance, poetry, adventure, mystery and murder. Inspiring and much to learn. Each time I read I find something new.

I like this translation a lot. It’s often a bit more readable than ESV but still closely tracks the nuances of the source text. The study features are good for casual study, with good concise introductions to each book and copious footnotes. The illustrated features range from relevant photos and art to diagrams and callout paragraphs. My favorite feature was the way the text was formatted, which made it much easier to tell if a passage is poetical or quoting from another passage than your standard carry Bible.

A very good translation with wonderful explanations of complicated passages, interesting pictures of places in the Bible, and information about the original Hebrew and Greek words and why they are important.
