First contact with alien life should have been a seminal moment in humanity's history, but an unrelated war broke out mere days later against a malevolent artificial intelligence. Artie, the only survivor of the disastrous first meeting with the alien, remained in deep space to build a connection with the creature.
Now years have passed and the war is nearing its end. Extinction is imminent. In desperation, Christina Amobi, an investigator for the military, follows orders to make her way to Artie and discover the nature of his relationship with the monstrous being.
Far away in colonized space, Christina's sister, Eve, prepares the crew of her vessel for humanity's last stand against the enemy. Like other captains in the fleet, she is ready to accept her fate and die fighting. But those closest to her do not share her fatalism.
The actions of these few will determine more than human survival. They will change everything, forever.

I find Artie very adorable and dislike the CSA immediately. 'Him' is quite out of this world and has so many positive attributes that one might think it was something other than what it is and even now, what it is, is amazing. I can't use specific words for I don't want to spoil it. Fun read, great details and well worth reading. Recommended for any age!
