It's a SWEET romance! Three months to get married. It’s every bachelor’s nightmare, especially when there’s millions at stake. Thanks to his aunt’s kooky will, that’s exactly where Tristan McFarland finds get a wife or lose it all. At least he only has to stay married for a year. Small town girl, Claire Campbell is struggling to make it in big city Dallas. So when Tristan proposes what choice does she have? She has no place to live and no more money put aside. As Tristan’s wife, she’d have a year to get on her feet. A year and one million dollars! But when Tristan’s brother, Devin, returns home with his own wife in tow, the stakes climb even higher. Now Tristan has to deal with his wayward sibling, Devin’s Brazilian bride, in addition to his own wife and his aunt’s pampered pooch. To make matters worse, he might just be falling in love with Claire. All in the name getting what is rightfully his. The guy who said all you need is love surely didn’t have millions on the line.
I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.
I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!
I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.
I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.
I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.
I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)
Favorite movies--(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940's movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.
This book had a promising premise, but the story was rushed. There was little to no character development. The two romantic relationships weren't developed at all. I'm supposed to believe that Tristan is in love and truly fascinated with Claire, but I don't even know why they like each other except that the other person in good looking. Good looks alone do not make a relationship. On top of that, the eBook was poorly edited with missing and incorrect words scattered liberally throughout. Some individual scenes show that this author has talent, but the book as a whole is lacking.
This book was...cute. The beginning made it seem like it could be a lot of fun, but as it went on I started doubting it and just wanting to finish it in order to well...finish it! The way that Tristan kept referring to Claire as "medium" really started to rub me the wrong way and just there was no real development of feelings there. It was for sure a marriage of convenience but there was no believing that a real relationship developed....
Then came Devin and Espie - the wayward brother returning for a chance to get money. The way they just kind of abruptly arrive was a bit odd, but I found myself enjoying them far more than Tristan & Claire! I also loved the friendship that developed between Claire and Espie - they were kind of sprung together but they worked hard at understanding each other and a friendship developed.
All in all it was a quick and easy read - a really good palate cleanser if between fantasy or thriller books!
This book was super cute!! I like that we’re introduced originally to just Claire and Tristan and then Devin and Espie just sort of join the party! Espie is probably my favorite character, she’s smart, beautiful, soon to be bilingual and a mother!! The brothers realizing that love is worth more than money also made my heart soar. It was a really quick read, perfect for a rainy day, a palate cleanser, a hopeless romantic mood read!!
This book was frustrating to read. It has a good premise but the miscommunication trope was so heavy that it made it just annoying. It took way too long for them to resolve problems and they were being really petty. In the end it was still enjoyable and had a cute romance but was just really weird on pacing.
So there is a note from the author at the beginning of this book. She speaks of how she reworked this story to be a clean romance. I am so thankful she did. It's a cute story and no bedroom scenes were needed. I would have liked to see the brothers's character changes fleshed out more. It felt like the wives got more time sharing their journeys.
When forced to marry to inherit the family company and fortune two bothers were in computation for the 36.4 billion dollars. They b had to marry and live together for a year to qualify.
They both married but the future was not secure. Both wives left and the guys, were struggling to find answers.
PG-13 for mention of sex and slight language but doesn’t go into detail at all! This was a very sweet book! The relationships were kept fairly light but they also didn’t seem to take very long falling for each other.
This story was an unexpected pleasure. It was filled with of surprises and ended with a somewhat unexpected outcome. It shows live can conquer all once you admit that you love.
super sweet and easy to read! i wish we could’ve seen more of their story at the end after they resolve their issues, but the ending was still very cute!
the guys only liked the wives for their looks. made me so mad and then it randomly switched from looking at one couples pov to both couples pov in the middle of the book?? did not make sense
