4 1/2 Stars ~ When single mom Mallory had begun her nursing career at Mercy Hospital 15 years ago, she'd had an enormous crush on internist J.T.; but he'd married and then worked up the prestigious ladder to become the hospital's Medical Director. He used to be friendly and approachable, now if staff needed to speak to him they had to make an appointment. After her brief meeting with J.T. to discuss nurse shortages in her department, she'd had to come to his aid as suddenly he lost all use and feeling in his legs. Rushing him down to the ER, his paralysis progressed and by morning he was in the ICU on a ventilator. Not one of his family, Mallory was unable to see him except in passing his room. Mallory had always worked very hard to see her daughter could have opportunities, and her dream was to attend university on the east coast. To supplement scholarships, Mallory decided to take on a weekend home nursing job and much to her surprise it was for J.T. Still on a ventilator, he was now receiving 24/7 care in his home. Mallory was aware that his ailment was usually a temporary condition and she couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't been improving and she became determined to see him back on his feet. Working his quickly deteriorating muscles, she slowly begins to see his body waking up again. Being trapped in his body unable to communicate, J.T. had never felt so helpless, until Mallory arrived. She was like a beam of sunshine and soon he was thriving. In a few short weeks he was off the ventilator, and then he had sensations in his arms. Mallory raised questions on his initial treatments and pushed for answers on the underlying cause for his condition. J.T. had always been aware of Mallory, even in the years before he'd married, and now as a divorced man, he finds himself wanting more with this woman. When he kisses her, Mallory can't help but respond and with each moment they spend together she falls further and further in love with him. Life is good, until J.T.'s physician questions Mallory's professionalism, fires her as J.T.'s nurse and threatens to see her fired from the hospital.

From the first pages, Ms. Marshall had me thoroughly captured in this compelling love story. While the circumstances that bring J.T. and Mallory together are traumatic, Ms. Marshall craftily balances out the emotionally charged moments with others that are light hearted and upbeat. There's some angst when J.T.'s ex-wife threatens full custody of their son, and Mallory is forced to back away from all contact with J.T. Though I was disappointed there wasn't an epilogue, the HEA was truly sigh worthy.

The second book in the Mercy, Inc. series is overflowing with gripping predicaments, and each dilemma comes across as very realistic plus features interesting characters. Lynne Marshall has a talent for creating such convincing medical romances, where every situation plays out in a believable way regardless of what is happening. In this book, one of the main characters becomes a part of the medical drama, and the moments which include his condition are riveting because of the vast number of uncertainties. I am always pulled into any story written by Lynne Marshall, but HIS SPECIAL ANGEL is especially creative and very rewarding.

Since Mallory Glenn has worked at the same hospital for many years, she knows the long-term staff well. One doctor, J.T. Prescott, was once friendly and easy going. But after taking over as the medical director at Mercy, Inc. and then getting a divorce, he seems to only be focused on anything related to business. When a sudden illness has JT needing specific care at home, there are several reasons as to why Mallory comes to his aid. As she does everything that she can to see him recovered, the two form a close bond yet know nothing can ever come of their attraction.

It did not take long for HIS SPECIAL ANGEL to grab my every thought, as it starts off with an incident which quickly turns into an emergency. From that moment on, I could not stop reading as I had to discover what would happen to JT plus learn whether his and Mallory’s relationship would stay professional or become more personal. Emotions of all kinds can be found throughout the book, and they range from sorrow to hopeful to amused. I hurt for this couple when their lives looked bleak, and I cheered them on when a situation appeared positive. There were even a few instances where humor takes over, and one in particular had me laughing loudly. Lynne Marshall repeatedly gives this couple one trial after another to conquer, and I never knew what kind of difficulty might challenge them next.

With JT becoming a patient, there are more medical circumstances than usual, and I eagerly read every one in order to see what direction the story would go. There are still other scenes taking place in the hospital that concentrated on patients with various ailments, and I enjoyed watching Mallory or JT work with these individuals. HIS SPECIAL ANGEL is an outstanding installment in the Mercy, Inc. series.

His Special Angel (Mercy, Inc. #2) by Lynne Marshall
This story starts out with a table of contents then the story.
Mallory has raised her daughter and she's getting ready to attend the college of her choice, on the east coast which is very expensive.
Mallory had been working longer shifts, putting money away but nothing near what she needs even with the scholarships her daughter had won.
She's heading to meet with the head doctor who used to do rounds and was such fun but now he's not so fun with all the paperwork he has to do and others have noticed the change.
... She gets him to ER where they run tests on him and she heads back to work.
After his surgery she is given the chance to take care of him on weekends for extra money.
He had written up a special document that prohibits the use after a time and to allow him to die. She wills him to live and we then learn more about him, his homelife, his ex wife and his upcoming travel.
She listens and is able to learn more about his sudden illness and with his help they discover what it could be and JT, the patient questions his doctor about it.
So much comes into play, so unpredictable and he has a fight on his hands. More that just one as he alienates his special nurse.
Great story and as in the first book I learned about some many surgical procedures that really make this a great read. I see everything done on medical dramas on TV and they had not made sense to me.
Loved it for so many reasons: learned new words, love hearing about caring people, love careers where one uses their hands and brains, family life and just caring.
Love the unexpected ending with the help of her daughter, so cool! Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
About the author is listed at the end.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

His Special Angel is the second book in Lynne Marshall’s Mercy, Inc. series.

Mallory Glenn, a single parent, has been a nurse for many years. She admired Dr. JT Prescott when he practiced alongside her at Mercy Hospital. JT is a divorced father with a cantankerous ex who does her best to keep their son from him. Now, that he has risen through the ranks and is the medical director, he is a different man. The once approachable doctor is short fused and doesn’t seem to care much for the nursing staff other than meeting his quotas.

After facing a nursing shortage, Mallory schedules a meeting with him to discuss the nursing issues. Their meeting is held minutes before he is scheduled to take a long vacation to Kenya. After their meeting, she leaves his office only to hear a loud noise from within. She discovers him collapsed on the floor. She calls for help only his condition becomes grave.

An extremely ill JT returns to his home and his care is overseen by a nursing staff. Mallory who is looking for additional money to send her daughter to college volunteers to be his weekend nurse. The once strong confident doctor is a shadow of himself, fighting to carry on in his dark bedroom.
A diligent Mallory jumps right in doing her best to brighten the room and his surroundings. Mallory, in fact, is JT’s special angel. She researches his case and discovers alternative treatments that he should have undertaken in the hospital. Will he realize how much Mallory cares for him? Will JT recover and discover the truth behind his illness?

His Special Angel was a heartwarming read that I couldn’t put down. Ms. Marshall is one of my favorite Medical authors and I absolutely loved this book. This is a standalone read that I highly recommend reading along with the other books in the series.

Description:
One off-limits doc...one very special nurse

Mercy Inc.'s favorite nurse, Mallory Glenn, has always admired her boss from afar. As a working single mom, personal responsibility takes precedence over silly crushes, and the newly divorced doctor is strictly off-limits. Then tragedy strikes, and Mallory knows she' must step in and care for the man who has always touched her heart.

J.T. Prescott is used to being active, strong and in control, so he doesn't make the best patient. But he can't deny the healing skills and tender touch of the annoyingly upbeat nurse, Mallory. Nor can he resist the temptation of this very special angel
🌟MY Review🌟
Wow what a wonderful medical romance series by Lynne Marshall. Even though His Special Angel is the second book in the Mercy, Inc Series it can be read on its own .
This is the first medical romance book i have ever read and I really enjoyed the plot as well as the pacing of this story. The story is well written and easy to follow. I was able to easily picture the events as they happened.
I also liked the fact that we get to really see the feelings of J.T who is a divorced dad, Doctor and medical director of the hospital as well as Mallory a single mom and nurse. Both of them had past relationships that caused them to react the way they did.

From the moment J.T hit the floor i was glued to the story flipping the pages on my kindle as fast as i could. It had me holding my breath several times as well as laughing . I love how the author writes about different medical/ health issues. Wish more did this.

I highly recommend it and I am soooo looking forward to reading another book by this author and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Well-Done Medical Romance

This is the first book I’ve read by Lynne Marshall. As a registered nurse myself, I am often disappointed how life in the hospital for those who work there is depicted in fiction. Usually, I find so many errors… so much so I find it distracting as I often start just looking for the next gaffe rather than enjoy the story and characters. Luckily, that didn’t happen here! The author has actually been a nurse, so the medical aspects--from what it is like interacting with your co-workers to hospital staffing/corporate issues to disease treatment--rang true. The way she wove in the medical aspects (both at the hospital and with the hero after his diagnosis) with the romance was very well done, too. For those in the medical field, that aspect didn’t feel like “too much”; it was artfully done. While this is my first book by this author, it won’t be my last.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Very well done medical novel. I loved that the h was a nurse, and a very good one! The medical scenarios described were accurate and well written. The daughter of a friend has GBS and has plateaued for 2 years! She is very slowly regaining some function. The descriptions of was the H experienced were spot on.

Good story, editing and timeline.

Hmmm.... expected a bit more

Mallory Glenn is a single mother and a passionate nurse. She is in her mid-thirties and painfully aware that her daughter will leave in a few weeks for college. What will her life be like as an empty nester? And how will she be able to face the financial burden of her daughter’s education?

Dr. J.T. Prescott, medical director of the hospital where Mallory works, faces other problems. He thinks that his life is completely and totally shattered: he finds himself in a career he doesn’t like but followed to please his wife. They divorced anyway and presently he is fighting a bitter custody battle for his son. How much lower could his life become? More so, destiny decides and gives him one more kick. However, fate didn’t take Mallory into consideration - because she’s on a quest to save J.T. for whom she had always more than strictly professional feelings.

The book started very dynamically and pulled me immediately into the storyline. Together with Mallory l tried to understand what “kick” fate dealt J.T. and together with the heroine I was impatiently looking for a “solution” to his problem. I even thought that there might be a slight suspense subplot involved ...but no such luck, as this book is strictly (clean) romance only. In any case, the dynamics of the book faltered and after approx. half of the book the plot took a dive. Mallory fought with her insecurities and dropped into a downward spiral, which remained central in the rest of book. J.T. on the other hand remained completely passive. Of course he had his reasons for doing so but I would’ve liked to see a more dynamic, complex and satisfying stance from my male hero. After some back and forth the main characters could resolve their issues and moved the storyline along but this is exactly we’re my issues started. I couldn’t relate to Mallory’s demands and her reasoning. Somehow these let this strong woman appear very immature, sometimes even unrealistic. However, J.T. and Mallory found their HEA but this just didn’t sit right with me. Not that I can put my finger on anything but somehow it just didn’t satisfy me enough. Maybe because it was a bit rushed? In any case, a nice and unproblematic read that kept me some hours good company.

This book was ok. I'm not sure when it was written as it made mention of a pager and thigh length briefs as opposed to a cell and boxer briefs.

I started out liking Mallory until she turned into an insecure, overly emotional, fragile female. She started out as a strong, confident, intelligent nurse willing to use all of her strength and professional knowledge to help JT recover. After becoming involved with him, she turned into a completely different person. I lost all respect for her after she rushed to JT's house. I also didn't understand why she didn't immediately tell him what she had seen. I also didn't understand how she thought she was being bought.

JT for his part, could have picked up a phone and explained the situation to her instead of leaving her hanging. He could have even sent her a message through Jake letting her know why he was doing what he was doing. On top of all of that, I was very surprised he didn't contact her right away after the meeting in his attorney's office.

This was a romance that involved kissing, and was not sexually descriptive. If you are looking for something steamy, this is not the book for you. I felt the connection between JT and Mallory more when she was caring for him than I did after that.

As medical romances go, this one was a little too descriptive for me. I can only assume it was accurate in detail, but it gave me more information than I ever wanted to know, especially considering the world's current health crisis. That is solely a personal opinion.

I would say read this book and judge for yourself. The romance kind of fell off after a point. I thought there would be some repercussions for the doctor that handled JT's care, but as usual, the only person to be judged was the woman in this book. I was disappointed by a couple of things, but, that's life.

Nurse Mallory Glenn has both admired and had a crush on J.T. Prescott for years. Now J.T. is getting divorced and as a medical director is more concerned with the hospital finances than the staff shortages. When J.T. needs home health care, Mallory works weekend shifts as J.T.'s nurse. I received a free copy of this ebook from eBook Discovery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love how Mallory ignored J.T's cold written medical instructions by adding music, light, and massage to help his healing. I also enjoyed the scenes set in the hospital. The book started out really well, but started dragging for me as J.T.'s started healing. I didn't like how J.T. didn't realize the repercussions for Mallory for some of his actions. At times he left her on own her own to deal with potentially life changing events. I love Mallory because she gave so much while I felt that J.T. was more of a taker. This book is just okay for me.

Quick read. Mallory and JT work at Mercy hospital, she's a nurse and he's a doctor turned hospital administrator. They worked together before he became management but the caring doctor with good bedside manner is now a gruff, unsympathetic number cruncher - embittered by his divorce and ongoing custody battle with his ex. When he falls ill, Mallory works as his weekend nurse to help pay her daughter's college tuition. As she helps nurse him back to good health, they become more than nurse and patient. JT's ex and a fellow physician conspire to against the couple in what seems like unnecessary drama. The ex and his physician rival seems a bit cartoonish but Mallory is a great character - honestly she's probably too good for him. When JT spurns her for fear it will sabotage his chance at full custody, I wanted to kick him in the shin. He does pull his head out of his you know what and does make amends though a little more groveling would serve him well.
After I read this book I realized I own the first book in the series which I will read. It appears the books are only loosely related as the MCs from the first book make a minor appearance at the very end of this book.

The doctor becomes the patient in this charming medical romance. Mallory has had a crush on Dr. Prescott for some time, but apart from the fact that they are work colleagues until recently, he was also married. However, when an unexpected illness attacks the good doctor, his private nursing care coincides with Mallory's need to raise extra funds to pay for her daughter's college tuition. Fining J.T. in a worse state than she envisioned, Mallory determines to find out as much as she can about his condition and takes an assertive approach to discover ways to help him recover. J.T. finds himself looking forward to Mallory's weekend shifts, especially as her approach helps him to fight for his recovery. This romance is well written, entertaining, and witty. It also gives some background to Guillain-Barré syndrome. I loved the main characters in this novel, especially as J.T. regains his humanity. Mallory's compassion and insights also draw the reader. Although there are some hiccoughs in their relationship, combined with manipulation and interference from other parties, this story is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion.

A truly lovely story about JT Prescott a doctor who becomes Medical Director and a floor nurse Mallory a mother to a daughter ready for college. JT is divorced and in the middle of a child custody case with his ex wife. His plans a vacation to Kenya to do some photography which is his favorite hobby and hopes will give him time to see what the future holds. Mallory goes to him to try to help her floor nurses as they are overworked . Not easy as she has had feeling for him from when he was a doctor on her floor. After their meeting as she leaves she hears something fall so goes back in and discovers he cannot move his legs. He is taken to the hospital where he is diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome. Ms. Marshall has truly done a fantastic job on covering his sickness and at the same time bringing Mallory into his life. I so enjoyed this story and to write a review is difficult because I don't want to give away any of the story because trust me you will start this book and hate to put it down. Loved everything about the story, except his ex wife lol. enjoy I did.

Mallory Glenn is a kickass nurse and single mom who’s had a crush on her boss, Dr. JT Prescott, for years but had never acted on it. Life brings them together when he contracts a debilitating illness and she takes care of him.
This book is the second in the Mercy Inc. series but it can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first one and did not feel like I was missing anything.
I really liked Mallory as a character, she took charge of her own life and made the best of the hand she was dealt.
The relationship between Mallory and JT felt a bit rushed to me and it did bother me that these two grown-ups could not let cooler heads prevail once to have one good and honest conversation about their circumstances but, all in all, this book was a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.

This is an enjoyable romance with a roller coaster of emotions between Mallory and J.T. There are several elements of conflict which can hold your attention, and the love interest is appealing if a bit rocky. It’s a fairly entertaining tale that you may find worth reading.

Some unusual actions and reactions in this story of a single mom nurse and a doctor with an ex-wife, a son, and a lot of problems. Mallow always expects the worst, and is unable to react appropriately when things go well. There is a happy ending here, believe it or not.

In His Angel's Arms

I would like to start out that the book cover did not match the heroine. Lynne Marshall wrote her out to be a long haired red head. Otherwise I enjoyed the story line. Maggie is an RN in a hospital where she works with Dr. J T Prescott. He ends up with GBS (read about it in this book). And she ends up taking care of him. This story was well written with both point of views. They worked together on the ward before he was placed in management. Now he is in need of long term care himself. She has had feelings for him for a long time. But until his divorce it had been hidden. She takes on extra assignments to supplement her income to help her daughter. She is back in his world as his career. Can these two be able to grow into more or will his own problems be the stopping point for them?
