Defining liked this one a bit better than first one. But Uri is still an asshole and didn’t even do proper grovelling for all the shit he did. Alyssa she always gets tingles whenever she is near to Uri like girl get a job!!
Overall its good twists and turns in the story.

I enjoyed the first book better. Is there an unwritten rule that mafia books must be written as a duet? I don’t mean just in the author’s case but in general. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a mafia duet that wasn’t the book equivalent of “This meeting could have been an email.” (This duet could have been a standalone). Dragging it out to two books made it incredibly repetitive and there was zero character growth. This is the second duet I’ve read by this author and I was intrigued by the blurb on the first book. I do think the concept and the story line in general was good. The book is well written in terms of style, just found myself skipping pages as this book dragged.

Specific examples of things that were bothersome:

- abducted, rescued, then abducted AGAIN, and rescued AGAIN.
- the bad guy has the audacity to abduct and sell the MMC sister and sell her to s* slavery but doesn’t touch her ‘just incase’ (not that I’d want that to happen just the characters always escaping the really bad thing is unrealistic)
- the You need to rest b/c your pregnancy is high risk attitude which is immediately followed by providing orgasms (which make the uterus contract)
- just this once f* me harder (but said in each spicy scene)
- the authors lack of understanding on how Pitocin works on inducing pregnancies.
- the quickness of the resulting labour

I thought the second book would be better, but turns out it's worse.

The MMC is constantly hurtful towards his brother and the FMC. He doesn’t even grovel afterwards.

Their relationship is pretty much nonexistent. We got a couple of scenes with them together, but nothing worth mentioning.

There were also not many scenes with Lev & Polly.

I thought for sure the mmc would grovel for all the terrible things he said and does to the fmc, but nope! He calls her terrible names, locks her in a basement, and even chokes her in anger and leaves bruises on her neck. But the fmc is like, “he’s a good man, he loves me, I just know it, that’s why he acts this way towards me.” 🙄

Really the writing is good but the book suffers from the duet syndrome…. When you stretch a story too much it gets boring. If this duet would have been condensed and all the filler weeded out it would have been a 5 star read. I always wonder from an artistic standpoint if it’s worth it to water down a great book so that you can have a duet??? Must be because everyone is doing it….

The second book was better, but took too long in getting to the portion of the book that tried to make Uri's character human. Uri's character is still a complete as........hole until approximately chapter 20 whereas his character does a complete 180 until the end of the book where he acts like an as.....hole again, when he believes the Bratva doctor's claim that Alyssa and Nikolai are the actual parents of the twins. How many times can a Pakhan be played in one book by his enemies? This guy should have had to grovel so much more than he did considering everything he did to Alyssa in this duet. Just because he becomes an overly obsessive father-to-be who becomes another pain in her ass and just because they have lots of sex in the rest of book two doesn't make up for how he treated her throughout a large portion of this duet.

Alyssa's character had so much potential as a strong independent woman but sadly turned into a doormat at Uri's disposal, never knowing when the next "shoe was going to drop". His erratic behavior got very annoying. She was far too forgiving for my taste. I realize it's a balancing act when an author writes a MFC into a story such as this but finding a reasonable happy medium would have been much more entertaining, in my opinion. Alyssa's character fought hard through both novels to retain her "goodness" even when Uri tried to stomp all over it, but it weakened her resolve when dealing directly with him.

The story did have some added intrigue, suspense, and twists in book 2 and characters who continued to resonate with me in Nikolai, Lev and Polly as well as Uri's cousin and the new addition, Domenic.

The book ends on a positive note for both Uri and Allyssa and their family.

Action packed

The second book in this duet has a bit more action than the first but in a good way. The descriptions are almost movie worthy as I could picture them clearly.
I thought I would get sick of the Bratva angle (this is the third series I have read by Nicole Fox) but I loved the twists and nuances of difference between this and previous books. If I'm honest, the only flaw I can find is that I wish the FMC's weren't so forgiving and would make the MMC's work for forgiveness a bit more. I certainly would have nailed It is balls to the wall for some of the stuff he's done/said in this series.
Side note... The best character so Lev, hands down, he is the best and I just wanna hug him so hard for all he manages to overcome even if it's baby steps.

OMG

This was the absolute epic story. These two came together after all the hard times and when everything started to fall into place another bombshell came out of nowhere. It was not only the worry about how to save the babies but what came when everything was almost perfect.
I have to say that the condition with the pregnancy and TTTS hit close to home and I felt the same way, only her babies had made it.
I loved this story so much. It kept me up way into the night so I could finish it.

Book 2 of the Bugrov duet and what a rollercoaster.

Continuation of the book 1 with Alyssa and Polly kidnapping, then rescue and dealing with the flesh trade.
Book 2 is full of twist and turns that will keep you glued to the book till the end but don't worry Nicole serves us with HEA.

This duet is a must read as so as the other books by this awesome author.

A lot happens in the conclusion to this duet, and there are a few loose ends, too, that I would like to have seen tidied up.

Worst series ever!!

This was the most disappointing series Nicole Fox ever wrote. I'm so tired of women not being able to sat no to sex. Of not being able to stay mad. This book especially treated the woman like absolute shit and then she was totally fine with it. It's ok to have something like that at the beginning but for it to last throughout the whole book? Nothing says doormat better. Where are the books of strong women making decisions that better themselves? I'm digusted with this book

It was good but...

I liked the story and the characters as well as the steam, however, I hate when the FMC is a doormat. Between the first book and the second I thought she was doing better but he literally accused her of cheating on him when he knows she's in a fragile state. I don't feel like that's something you can forgive so easily. She instantly forgave him after he saves her and whatnot but like can't I get at least 10 minutes of anger or something? I guess all it takes is a "I'm sorry and I love you" and that's good enough? No! It annoyed me in the first book when he treated her like trash and she let him do it. Ugh she even took all the blame for his sister getting kidnapped but still "melted" under his touch. Other than that I liked the side characters and that it was still a bit of a mystery who the traitor was in the end.

Overall really enjoyed this book, I finished it in a day. There were moments of pure frustration for me when it came to Uri and his decision making skills. The moment I realized what was happening before the characters did I was like freaking out and thinking okay I see you Nicole… That was a good twist!! But I was also very mad 🤣 The HEA is perfect though and overall loved this duet.

Midnight Sanctuary is book two in the Burgov Bratva Duet. This is the epic finale of Uri and Alyssa’s story and satisfying happily-ever-after. A beautifully written story with damage individuals and a twisty and complex storyline that grabs you by the throat and never let up until the end. It keeps you on the edge of your seat with it's pulse-pounding action and thrills and keep you guessing at every until the beautiful HEA. Graphic contents and dark themes that some readers may find upsetting and triggering with sexual scenes. A fast paced, raw, dark, and twisted story. Utterly undeniably addictive and unputdownable read. The story is told from a dual point of view.

Uri was devastated and felt like he failed Polly and Alyssa and he was suppose to protect them. Boris sold Polly to Dominick who then sold Polly to the Bugrov enemy Olepeg who an old enemy of his father who came for revenge. Boris has special plans for both girls. He wants to have sex with Alyssa which he knows will destroy Uri for being with his woman. He was just about to rape her and noticed that she was pregnant and thought that was even better but Uri came in and stop his party. Uri was happy to see Alyssa when he saved her but his treatment of her was still horrible and he still put her back in the basement inspite of the terrible ordeal that she had been through.
Although Nikolai didn't want her to be apart of their world at first, they have managed to become best of friends which as cause some major jealousy between Uri of his brother. Alyssa was the Whisperer of Burgov family, she's balm to soothe every member troubles. Uri hate her and love her. He can't stay away, he has to have his fix. The Burgov Bratva is very powerful and Boris wants to destroy the entire Bratva leaving them powerless. Boris is obsess with Uri but has no idea why he's so obsessed. He captures Boris and torture him to get information from him about Polly. But while they were out they was a breach at his house and was double-cross and someone let Boris out of the bunker.
He decided to allied with Dominik Evanoff to take down Boris Sobakin once and for since they share a common goal, after he kidnapped Alyssa for the second time with the help of the traitorous Dr. Grigory. Boris blackmail the doctor to induce Alyssa to go going labor months early. He then wanted to cut out the twins out of Alyssa stomach in from Uri then kill the babies and Alyssa and Uri once and for all. Midnight Sanctuary is a story of family, friendship, duty and love; vengeance and betrayal. There are some definitely intense, suspenseful and downright violent and smoking hot moments. But I love it all.

Midnight Sanctuary picks up where, the first book, Midnight Purgatory, left off. Polly and Alyssa have been kidnapped by one of Uri’s enemies. The girls have been separated. And Sobakin has just discovered Alyssa’ pregnancy that Uri doesn’t know about. Sobakin had just drugged her and was getting ready to do …. who knows what to her when Uri rides in to save the day. Uri gets so angry at himself for his reaction to her that it falls to his brother, Nikolai, to carry her out of that horrid place. Even though that bothers Uri as well because he knows it should be him carrying her.

Uri’s anger continues to burn hot once they get Alyssa home. He refuses to have anything to do with her and is once again keeping her locked in the basement. Nikolai tries to be a voice of reason, but Uri isn’t listening. Polly has been sold into sex slavery and he blames Alyssa. He spends all his time trying to find his baby sister. Nikolai takes it upon himself to check in on Alyssa, forcing her to take care of herself.

When Alyssa finally gets the opportunity to tell Uri she’s pregnant, he doesn’t believe her. He is soon forced to see the truth when the doctor confirms the pregnancy and informs them she’s having twins. Uri still refuses to relent on his stance with Alyssa although he is excited for his children. He orders Nikolai to see to her care.

Nikolai quickly becomes Alyssa’s only friend during these hard times.

“You’re putting too much pressure on yourself. There might be nothing there to remember.”

“My gut’s telling me otherwise.”

“Your gut also told you to accept dinner with my brother. It’s got a checkered past.”

Nikolai even convinces Uri to let Alyssa out of the basement. He tries to get Uri to see she isn’t to blame, but it falls on death ears.

However, when there is an emergency involving Alyssa and the babies, Uri is forced to see the truth. He sees how wrong and cruel he has been and is ready to make things right with her.

His hard work to find Polly eventually pays off too.

However, Sobakin is not done with Uri yet. He will not stop until he destroys the Bugrov pakhan once and for all. And, Alyssa and those babies are the perfect ticket to make all his sick dreams come true. Can Uri keep them safe or will his own pride and indignation destroy them all?

Ok. So, I was really steamed when I finished reading Midnight Purgatory because of the cliffhanger. I found that book to be just okay, so I was angry to have to pay to read the second book to find out what happened. At a much stiffer price tag to boot. However, I’m glad that I read it. Except for the beginning of the book, when Uri was being a grade-A asshole, I really enjoyed the story. I could not read it fast enough, and there were a few parts that went back and re-read because I just really enjoyed them.

Uri could be a real piece of work, but when he decides to give his heart away, he does it full-bore. The sweet moments with him and Alyssa were so great to see. It makes you forgive both of them honestly. He for being a jerk and her for putting up with it for so long.

Unfortunately, I did predict the ending and what was happening when Uri lost his trust. in a certain someone. It was still an enjoyable ride though. Hopefully he has his shit together now!

There is an extended epilogue through the author’s website that is a must-read for anyone who likes this book. It was so sweet, but made me long for more.

I was really hoping there are more books to this series. I would love to see Nikolai get his own love story. And, of course I’d love to see more of Uri and the rest of the Bugrov bratva. Polly, Lev, … Dimiv. Sounds like Dimiv may have already had a book? No idea. Regardless I saw this one was listed as a duet, so sounds like there won’t be any more books sadly. A girl can dream though.

Un suspense étonnant, une romance particulièrement sensuelle. Supplice (tome 1) et Havre (tome 2) de Minuit sont des romances douces, entraînantes, avec une touche de suspense et d’intrigue, MAIS surtout avec beaucoup de sensualité et d’amour.
Une Dark Romance sensuellement entraînante. Une série à lire! 9/10

Mais quand le colis est livré par erreur chez le beau gosse ténébreux qui me sert de voisin...
C’est moi qui suis morte de honte.

Je m’empresse donc de me faufiler chez lui pour récupérer mon colis avant qu’il ne le trouve. Mais, pas de chance, il me prend en flagrant délit...
Et il m’oblige à rester dîner.

On passe au dessert et, ensuite, on savoure un tout autre type d’entremets, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire.
Le tout enrobé d’une bonne dose de passion, fébrile et délicieuse.
Après tout, ce n’est pas ma faute s’il est encore plus beau de près que depuis la fenêtre de ma chambre !

De retour chez moi le lendemain matin, j’ouvre mon précieux colis récupéré en douce...
Mais je m’aperçois immédiatement que ce n’est pas le bon.
Et l’horreur que je découvre à l’intérieur de celui-ci changera ma vie à jamais.

Mon beau voisin est en réalité un haut gradé de la Bratva russe, qui cache de sombres et violents secrets.
Et, pour couronner le tout, je tombe enceinte de lui !

Safety: there’s no cheating, but there is S. Violence (Attempted R.) as well as some pretty harrowing abuse of and violence towards a pregnant woman.
Other triggers include: Language, Graphic Violence (including extensive torture and much blood), Explicit Erotic Content, Kidnapping, Child Endangerment, Child Trafficking… basically, call Roy Rogers because we’ve got all the Triggers up in here.

I hate duet novels with the heat of a thousand suns, but I’m giving Fox a pass this time because each of these two books is full yet lean; I don’t see how they could be edited down into one book and still preserve the story. So, in this case, yay duets! Now excuse me, I have to check my weather app to see how far the temperature has plummeted in Hell….
The book was action packed and eventful. If there wasn’t action, something else was going on to keep relevant to the story and to propel the book forward. It was never, ever boring. And it’s a fast read because I can honestly attest to it being unputdownable.
Like in the last book, the Hero’s actions are sometimes problematic. This time he is not physically abusive,, but verbally and emotionally in one scene where he goes over the edge. And the reason he does is what gets him the award for TSTL (Too Stupid to Live). All I can say without giving spoilers is that the heroine is a person with a lot of Grace.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I enjoyed the first one in the duet. It’s really hard to keep up the momentum of something that good. Still, this was better than your average four star book, and a satisfying conclusion to the story.

Alyssa awakes in a different basement. She has been kidnapped along with Polly, Uri’s younger sister. When Alyssa and Polly tried to help rescue Lev they were sent home by Uri and as they got to Alyssa’s car they were kidnapped. Uri is the pahkan of the Bugrov Bratva. He took over when his father and mother were killed and his older brother Nikolai fell apart. Uri also took over being the guardian of Polly and Lev, Lev was in the car with his parents and he barely survived, he has some brain damage. Alyssa feels guilty for Lev being kidnapped and then Polly being kidnapped. Alyssa tries to keep Polly’s spirits up since she is fourteen Alyssa wants to take care of her even though they are strapped to the beds. Alyssa tells Polly that she is pregnant with Uri’s baby. The kidnappers end up taking Polly to be auctioned off at the sex auction. Boris ends up coming down to try to get with Alyssa. Boris is the person behind all of Uri’s troubles including his parent’s deaths. Uri is able to save Alyssa and they find out that they are having twins. Uri blames himself but he takes it out on Alyssa. After they find Polly and get her home. Alyssa comforts Polly and helps Lev after his abduction. Uri realizes that he is in love with Alyssa and wants to marry her. By this time Alyssa is in the hospital on bedrest and Uri wants to marry her within the hour.
