A cute book with truly appealing photos. The majority of the projects involve granny squares. I liked the book, but the patterns and ideas just weren’t original enough to thrill me.
Lots of lovely patterns in here and several things I want to make. But I can't help feeling the authors were a little too enthusiastic by the idea of 50 fun patterns. Possibly calling it 48 fun patterns and leaving out the door handle covers and wine box cover would be better. Because really, is anyone actually going to make those? WTF people. If having wine boxes on your worktop is such a problem I can think of two better options - drink the wine, it's quicker than crocheting a cover for it and by the time the box is empty you'll be drunk and won't care. Or you know buy wine that comes in a bottle. If this is too expensive for you use the money you would have spent on the yarn for the wine box cover to top up the wine budget.
Definitely worth a look. Fun patterns and ideas with many different projects, not just scarves, shawls, and throws. A more original look at yarn, yarn, yarn.
I love when the craft books have pictures and the author did not fail me with this title. I loved looking at all the cool things one can crochet or knit. The book starts off explaining how to create one of my favorites, a granny square. Then the author describes what projects can be completed using the granny square. The crocheted art is one I am definitely going to try to spruce up my craft room. The book goes on and on with instructions for making hats, scarfs, rugs, bags and a list of other items. The end of the book has a guide for crochet and knitting stitches. However, I would say this book is more for someone who already knows how to crochet or knit as you will be inspired to tackle one of these projects right away. Even if you don't know how to crochet or knit it is fun just looking at the pictures. Excellent book!!
A cute little book. I think the armchair was my favorite! I can’t see that holding up well in my house of animals, but it was definitely a statement piece!
Love, love, love this book! It is so colorful and cheerful. I have it out now making the soft, little white throw. But quite honestly, I would like to make everything. Lots of inspiration. My next goal is to make a large red and white granny square for wall decor.
This is a fun book with a Scandinavian aesthetic, simple shapes and clear colors with lots of white. I found the home decor designs more creative than the garment designs but some projects were kind of a head scratcher. I wonder how many box wine covers or wound stools have been made? I also worry about the durability of granny squares as a chair slipcover, although that cover project is very eye catching, or using double stick tape to secure the yarn on the wound stool. Nonetheless, lots of inspiration here!
Some pattern ideas are really quite odd, but the instructions are good, and there are some lovely, simple patterns in here. Definitely great for someone wanting to branch out from the granny square but want to do it slowly.
This book is almost exactly like her other! Photos and patterns are repeated to the point of this book almost being a duplicate of "Fun with Yarn and Fabric". What a disappointment.
