This was a fairly typical romance novel – pretty people who shouldn’t full in love do – he has a job to do, she has baggage etc. There was nothing overly special about it and I felt that I was reading it just to finish not for the enjoyment of it.

Generally I am a fan of the fluff romances almost as a palate cleanser before starting my next novel but this one was too typical. Romance novels usually have great characters, which for me makes the reading very enjoyable. But the two in this story were exactly what you would expect and had no hidden anything, they were flat.

There were no surprises in the story – predictions were easy to make so nothing was a shock and there were no exhilarating or “OMG!” moments.

Overall, it was a little disappointing.

While eye rolling and “what did you expect from a romance novel” might be warranted I do expect more from ANY book I read regardless of genre. Reading a romance novel does not mean I want to read a mediocre one.
