The Qur'an with Annotated Interpretation in Modern English

Rate this book
A timely addition to literature on the holy book of Islam, this translation provides the Arabic text as well as extensive explanations and interpretations on most verses. The use of modern English both in the translation and the commentaries, and the focus on social and historical aspects of Islam in the commentaries and appendices make the translation particularly accessible.

NOTE: The rating is for this translation and the annotations, not the Qur'an itself. I think it's a good habit for an agnostic to give ratings to religious texts. (Except Ecclesiastes, which I give 10/10 would recommend.)

Explainations on words and concepts are so good and detailed. That helps you understand Quran and what it is telling.

You can find the background of each verse in the Qur'an. This book also draws similarities between the monotheistic religions.
