Ik had de wikipedia-pagina over Nostradamus kunnen lezen, maar een niet heel goed of slecht geschreven dramatische vertelling over zijn leven heeft me precies de content geleverd die ik behoefde.
6/10 I have no background of Nostradamus as a historical figure. I only just picked this book up at the thrift shop for $1 because the beginning paragraph was so intense and engaging and the name reminded me of the movie Nosferatu which is in theaters right now. Turns out the whole book was very engaging! It was a little frustrating in the beginning to grasp the time jumping without distinct notation, but once I caught on to that, I came to really appreciate the pace the book moved at. The interactions were amusing enough to keep me reading and the random and weird raunchy bits were disgusting but hilarious. Definitely got the idea the author was a little horny in the first half, but it settled down. I liked exploring the theme of knowledge suppression by the religious rulers of the time period, and Michel's struggle with the knowledge he has but cannot act upon, as well as how he learns how to utilize his visions. Love the last moments of the book where he finally reaches his death that he foresaw and when he trolls the grave robbers by wearing the pendant with the date of when his casket would be opened.

Boeser brings this dangerous and exciting time to life as he tells the story of the mystic who was a physician, astronomer, astrologer, and heretic. He was pursued by the inquisition and protected by kings and their mistresses.
Showing uncanny accuracy in predicting the injury to the eye of the King of France and his resultant death he secured his position in polite society and possibly his life. Many today search his writings to determine the future.
a fascinating insight into the life of michel de nostradame if not slightly pertubing read because of the prophecys he predicted that have already come true and the ones still to be fufilled.
