Scott King is an author and photographer. He was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Ocean City, Maryland. He received his undergraduate degree in film from Towson University, and his M.F.A. in film from American University.

“DAD! A Documentary Graphic Novel,” King’s first book was published in Fall ’09. He is also the creator and writer of “Holiday Wars.”

King is a game photographer based in Texas. His most common shoots are for websites, online stores, and for other marketing needs. He also produces an annual calendar that highlights board and other hobby games.

King was first introduced to the entertainment industry in high school when he was hired as a production assistant on “Runaway Bride.” At the time, he served as a reporter for the school newspaper and although another student was assigned the article about the movie King was determined to write it. He snuck into a press conference where Gary Marshall was meeting with local media, so that he could out-scoop his fellow student. Durring the meeting King asked a few questions about how the movie would affect bus routes and local businesses. The next day he was hired and he’s been working in the entrainment industry ever since.

I only found select parts of this helpful because I am very familiar with the narrative structure of movies/novels/stories/whathaveyou, but this is a very good starting place and a very good overview of what it takes to get a draft done. It was absolutely worth my time. I also understand this was not written for ME and MY NEEDS, but I think it would be most useful for someone who is fresh to writing.

This is thought provoking - not just for people writing scripts but also for authors of novels.

Not a bad book on screenwriting- a bit short and simple but in all honesty it taught as much as lots of the larger books do.

I really really liked this book.

I’ve read so many screen writing books, a lot of them are boring and offer the same basic and repetitive advice. But this book was actually fun to read, it had personality and humor!

Something that this book did differently was that instead of just spouting facts, the author wrote a script along with us to practically show us what to do.

The only reason I gave this four stars was, it only focused on writing movies, luckily most of the content was transferable to TV but there were several chapters on structure that were redundant.

To conclude I was very happy with this book and would definitely recommend it for any aspiring screen writers.

ABC of script writing

Best book to start your script writing dream. This book gave me feel that I was attending a class more than reading just pages. Narration is wonderful. It's great gift for me.

Useful; I really liked it.

Practical and simple. And funny, I think.
Scott writes his own script while showing how to do it.
Maybe a must have for beginners.
