This is a cute book with a fairly wide range of words. That said, some of the illustrations are simplistic enough that they might not reflect what a child sees on a day to day basis (television or phone, for example). The book's age might have something to do with this.

Ik heb dit boekje al verscheidene jaren op de achterbank van mijn auto liggen. Het is met andere woorden een meegroeiboekje voor de allerkleinsten. De gekartonneerde bladen zorgen er voor dat het onverslijtbaar is en de inhoud blijft de ouder wordende baby/kleuter intrigeren.
En toch zitten er wat nadelen aan het boekje. Sommige afbeeldingen zoals de 'klok' zijn niet erg duidelijk voor de allerkleinsten. Ook sluiten objecten zoals 'skateboard' niet echt aan bij hun leefwereld. Voor de grotere kinderen die net leren lezen, is er een ander probleem. Zij worden geconfronteerd met woorden uit een andere taal (bv. bureau) die niet aansluiten bij hun taallessen. (Anderzijds wel lachen als je ziet wat ze er van brouwen.)
Om die reden eerder een drie sterren in plaats van een vijf sterren.

I like this book. The pictures are vibrant and simply drawn. Each page has a bright pink, orange, yellow, blue or green background. Some of the pages have alternate pictures that are related to the main one (the "shoes page" will have small pictures of a jacket, pajamas and pants). It's a good starter book for kids learning objects, shapes and colours.
