There were A LOT of errors in this book. It did help me, but the actual test was MUCH easier than the practice tests in this book.

I do not have much background in education, but this prep book contained all the information I needed to pass the test. I felt the summaries of each of the core areas on the test were complete, and I don't recall more than one or two questions on the entire test not being covered by the information in this book. Before taking the test, I had taken one class on working with ESOL students, a human growth and development class, and half of a reading instruction class - no other education classes, and all of the gaps in my knowledge were filled in by this book.

The practice tests seemed like pretty good indicators of the types and difficulty of the questions on the actual exam.

My two main problems with this book were with the "checkpoint" questions at the end of each section and the fact that I noticed many typos. The checkpoint questions are fill-in-the-blank questions taken word for word from the section they are checking, which the content of this book explicitly says is NOT a recommended way of writing full-in-the-blank questions. It just seemed like a bad idea for the content of the assessment section to say you should not take fill-in-the-blanks word for word from the text and then turn around and do exactly that. Still, I liked having review questions after each section and then again at the end of each chapter before moving on to the full practice exams.

I reviewed this as 3 stars/"liked it" just so it wouldn't get bad ratings. I didn't "like" reading it, but it was a helpful review.

This book gave me what I needed to pass the test. I am pretty sure I will refer to this book once I am teaching.
