You & Me #4

Something Just Like This: A You & Me Novel

Rate this book
I met Liam four years ago at my best friend’s wedding. He was tall, dark, handsome and cocky as hell. The life of the party who had no trouble finding new friends to go home with each night.

Now he’s here in my hometown and a part of my daily life. He’s still just as tall, dark and handsome as he ever was but he has quickly become a friend and confidant.

But if he’s just a friend, then why am I starting to feel the way I do about him? Why do I want to help him escape the pain that has clearly followed him here? Why does the beat of my heart pick up speed every time he touches me?

After 30 years of waiting for The One, could Liam be my fairy tale bliss?

Cami is fierce and loyal, independent and stubborn, sweet and sassy…and damn she’s hot as hell. I tip my hat to the man that finally conquers the fiery little redhead. Although, I can’t imagine there is a man alive worthy of her.

I know that man isn’t me, but I’ll be damned if I don’t wish it were. I’m still fighting old demons and I’ll never be enough for a woman like her, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want her. Every minute of every day my desire for her grows.

When she decides to make it her life’s mission to battle my ghosts and the pain that haunts me, she makes my need for her impossible to ignore. This woman has shaken me from my self-loathing and has brought me back to life. Back to the man I once was. The man I want to be.

Could someone like me be worthy of someone like her? Of something just like this?

**Received ARC from author for honest review**
“Swoon: it’s feeling your heart pound in your chest and flutter around in your tummy all at the same time. It’s wanting to sigh out loud when he says things like he just did, and it’s not being able to sleep at night because the thought of him won’t let you.”

It is also what you are going to experience while reading about Liam and Cami’s journey from friends to soulmates.

Cami and Liam are both single. Both have underlying issues that their friends aren’t completely aware of that are holding them back from relationships…but while looking at Jonathan and Emily, Mick and Alex, Devon and Gabby, they can’t help but want something like their friends have. That relationship. The person that complements them and accepts them as is.

The journey they take from friends to lovers is a quick one that takes a detour when the past comes to haunt them.

The obstacles that prevent them from moving forward are ones that force them to deal with their underlying issues.

They learn that when they do…they’ll get that something just like what their friends have but tailored to their life and personalities.

Some of my favorite lines aside from the swooning passage I started this review with…

“Honey, if my money and skin color aren’t good enough for you then my dick surely isn’t.”

“I would say it’s more geek-level status than dork-level.”

“I have never tasted anything so sweet. She may be the God-damned bee’s knees, but she is also sweet as fucking honey.”

“You are the blood in my veins that makes this heart of mine beat each and every day.”

Read the entire series. While each is a stand-alone, it will make you swoon more if you read it from the beginning.

I really loved Something just like this found it really enjoyable it had me hooked till the very end , the characters are lovable , story line is perfect , right amount of steam , and hilarious . I haven't read the first two books in the YOU & ME series but plane to and don't worry if you haven't either you wont be lost at all you'll just want to read the other couples love story and journey even more . Adore Cami she may be tiny but she has a big personality that put every one under her spell including the hero , incredibly talented , and any one would want to have her as a friend . Liam is a wonderful hero I fell for him from the first page to the last it was sad to see the struggles he is faced with and such a big teddy bear who also brings laughter to the group . These two are just perfect for one another they had a lot in common both funny , shared mad love for their friends , talented , similar insecurity's , and he's a giant while she's tiny , Liam and Cami also had adorable little nicknames for one another . I know I'll defiantly be reading more by Lisa Shelby in the future

🐝 Cami and Liam are most definitely the bee's knees🐝

Cami and Liam are part of the same circle of friends. They are the only 2 that are left single.... so it seemed only natural that they get together. They both have their issues. Liam tends to drink when things are bothering him, and before he moved to Portland he was dealt a pretty harsh blow by a woman he thought he was in love with. Cami feels like she needs to be completely independent. She never asks for help or shows that she needs anyone. Neither of them communicate very well when something is bothering them. I love how they were both unsure of themselves. It was a great telling of a realistic love story. No super heavy drama, no one party playing the total victim. He had money but that was not a factor in how he wooed her at all. This was my first book by Lisa Shelby and I was quite pleased with it. Since this was the 3rd in a series (all can be read as standalone) I think I will be going back and reading about the other couples in their group!

This book is beautiful. Liam and Cami are the cutest coupke ever. They became friends first and gradually were developing their relationship. They helped each other heal after life's punches and after some struggles managed to get their HEA.

I love the drama free story, I hate the people who hurt Liam and Cami's parents who were so mean. But since they have an excellent group of people things were easier to handle, cause that family is amazing. I'm definitely reading the first two books in the series.

I really enjoyed Something Just Like This. I had previously read the first book in this series of standalones, You and Me, last year and really loved that. I was glad to see that Cami and Liam get their own story.

Liam and Cami are both single and wish for what their friends have- a relationship with someone special. They both have issues, however, that affect their success.

I fell in love with both Liam and Cami. I enjoyed watching them mature and grow throughout the novel. I definitely recommend Something Just Like This!

Woah! What a game charger this story is! What if you thought your life was supposed to be different? What if you saw the love of your life (at an event) and wished for the both of you to still be together, although life wouldn't have worked out the way you want? That's what happens to Liam. He gets haunted by what his life would have been like, if him and Cami have stayed together. Can one little wish, change everything?

This was an excellent read. I love how the relationship between Liam and Cami grew in strength and passion. They both had issues that the had to work on separately and together. Inloved that you could relate to the characters.

My first book by Lisa Shelby and it didn't disappoint. This is book 3 in the series You & Me. It's a,stand alone so I wasn't missing to much from the first 2. It had Cami and Liam have great chemistry. Cami is a little spit fire and Liam is great southern charmer. These 2 together were steaming. They just knew each other and really kicked. Love this story

This is the 3rd book in this series. Full disclosure... I read this book and then went back and immediately read the others. I loved the cast of characters that the author portrayed. Her description of Liam and Cami...well you could feel the anticipation burning and it built to nuclear levels! Cami and Liam start with friendship, and through the course of the book you find out why they are such rich characters...they have been such great supporting characters for so long, it makes sense their chemistry would be off the charts. The problems they have are very real. I love how dedicated these characters are to each other. LOVE it. Great book, I will definitely read this author again.

Cami and Liam were full of amusing banter and sizzling chemistry. Smart and funny, sad and moving, my heart strings were plucked to a tune that I enjoyed every moment of. This is the first book of Shelby’s that I’ve read, and I plan to read her again. Though I assume that the previous books in the series covered Cami and Liam’s friends, I in no way felt lost during the book. Would having read the previous ones allow me to be excited to “visit” some beloved characters again? Most likely. But I enjoyed this as a true stand alone.

My one criticism is that I think the two characters were a bit too hard on themselves. They went from funny, confident, “life of the party” type people to introspective “I screwed everything up, I’m the worst” people pretty quickly. That being said, the confidence was a bit of a mask played on the world stage, which each of us is guilty of at one point or another, so who am I to judge?

Cami Holsted is 30 and best friends with Emily and Alex. When Emily's husband's, Jonathan, best friend arrives back in town Cami takes him under her wing to show him a good time when every one else decides to call it a night and the two begin a friendship.

Liam Fanua owns a construction company with his father and they are looking to expand so he decides to move closer to Jonathan to start over after being dumped by his girlfriend Hannah Edwards. As much as he is trying to move forward he seems to be turning to the bottle for more comfort.

As Cami and Liam begin to get closer can Cami help Liam deal with his past and make him look forward to a future with her? When their future has one major hitch in it will they make it through and find a common ground?

This is a great book on dealing with the past and moving onto a great future. Yet it also deals with some difficult issues like alcohol abuse and trying to find a way above it.

I really liked Cami but she was truly very independent which could definitely scare some guys away. She was a ton of fun and I absolutely adored what she did for Liam with the wedding. That was so awesome and it showed the type of person that she truly was and I loved it!

Liam was a great character and extremely close to his family but was dealing with his grief over losing Hannah with turning to alcohol. He was a super hard worker and I loved watching his friendship with Cami evolve into something more.

I hated what was driving the two of them apart and how much Liam fell apart when everything went down. I liked how he knew that he needed time to fix himself before being with Cami.

The end was great and I look forward to more from this author!

This book sucked me in right from the start and it held my attention throughout. Both Liam and Cami were great characters and their histories factored into who they were so much that I hoped they would be able to overcome it all. They ended up stronger and more sure of each other with the help of one another even after thinking they could do it on their own. Not once did Liam think he needed a woman like Cami to help him overcome his past. Boy was he wrong.

Liam. Liam. Liam.. I couldn't have swooned so much during a book. This man was phenomenal. He was the sweetest most kindest book boyfriend. He took the time to do all this little things that counted. How could he ever feel like he was not worthy? So touching... This book was my favorite!

What a great romantic love story! It is everything anyone could want in a romance..
Something just like this is an engaging and well written friends to lovers story.. A romance with plenty of chemistry, spark, humor, twist and turns to keep the readers interest.

Cami and Liam have been sorta friends for years. As they support each other to fight their demons they can't help but fall in love. And I fell in love with both of them.

I loved the how each characters pain and vulnerability, strength and faith, personal growth, forgiveness and pure love were beautifully captured in this story.  The story is very character driven.

The author is very talented and wrote this series so that you feel like part of the group of friends.
I enjoyed reading this series and will be following this author from now on.

Liam has met his match! I love watching hot, sexy men being brought to their knees by cute, sassy, strong willed women.

Well hot damn - Lisa Shelby you made me fall in love with Jonathan in You & Me, then I had to cheat on Jonathan with Mickey in More and now you bring Liam to me. Seriously what is a girl to do? I want them all!

I truly love finding new Author's. I was captivated with Lisa Shelby and her words in book one and two - You & Me and More. The third book Something Just Like This by far is my favorite of all three and didn't disappoint me what-so-ever. I am in total love with everything that is Cami and Liam!!! From page one you could feel the chemistry between the two and it just kept getting better and better as the book progressed.

You know when that time comes in a book when you just want to smack both the people in the head and say "get out of your head and just go for it" - well let me tell you that needed to happen a time or two with Liam and Cami. There were ups and downs but throughout the book you could feel every emotion there was to have. From Liam struggles all the way to Cami and her need to be in control and strong all the time.

Something Just Like This is a must read! Start with book one if you haven't already and escape into the world of Jonathan & Emily (and Ireland), Mickey & Alex and last but not least Liam & Cami. I love the fact that they are all friends and have made there own little family. I can't wait for more from Lisa Shelby!

Shelby just keeps getting better! With the third installment of her You & Me series, she has solidified her spot as an automatic one-click author for me, and bumped herself right up to a top spot on my list of favorite authors. Shelby has a knack for pulling you into the story from the start, and she doesn't let you go until the last page.
I have loved Cami since I met her, and was so excited when I learned we were getting her story. I doubt anyone could keep from loving her, she is feisty, independent, and fiercely loyal.
Liam is sexy, fun, and all kinds of swoony that will have you melting into a puddle of goo.
I cannot say enough how much I loved this story. 5 stars are not enough for the amazing writing, characters you can't help but love, and the awesome that is Lisa Shelby. While all the books in this series can be read as a standalone, they are completely fantastic and the swoon factor will be upped with each one. Grab Something Just Like This today you will thank me for it I am sure.

Cami may be small in stature but her personality and attitude is that of a giant. She will do anything for the people she cares about and you can’t help but love how feisty she is.

Liam is sexy, loyal and funny however underneath his humor he has the feeling of not being good enough due to his past.

Cami and Liam are part of the same group of friends and they are becoming closer. Their feelings for each other are becoming more than friends but will they be able to let go of the past to realize that what they have found in each other is what they have always been looking for?

I loved these characters as they fit each other perfectly. Cami is so determined and sure of her feelings that she won’t let anything stand in her way especially Liam’s doubts. This is the first book that I have read by this author and in this series. They are all standalones but after reading this gem and meeting the characters from the previous books I will be going back to read the other books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book had me gripped right from the start and there are many twists and turns. I did not want to put it down and even took it with me to read whilst doing housework just so I could finish it.

This book can be enjoyed time and time again. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremley well written. I will definitely want to one click future releases from this author. This book was full of many twists and turns in the book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen till the very end.

I could not wait to get to the end so I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!!

I will definitely be recommending this author to everyone I know.

Oh my God, this series only gets better and better!

Cami had always been my favorite character in You & Me. She was the best friend anyone could've ever asked for. She seemed like such a cheerful, sexy girl that she instantly became my favorite.

In this book, I finally got to see her find a happy ending with Liam. And it was so freaking (I try real hard not to swear in my reviews, I really do!) awesome.

There was much more comedy and sass in this book. Liam and his innuendos always managed to crack me up. And Cami with her sass? Oh my my.

So yeah, I absolutely loved reading Something Just Like This and I'm looking forward to reading more from Lisa Shelby! I'm awfully close to adding her to my list of favorite authors! <3

This book...I absolutely loved everything about it! A true romance of being loved just as you are. To have someone not want to change you...to love all your flaws, to be your partner in life, to always have your back...to love YOU! Don't we all want something just like this? This is one of the best stories I've read. Liam and Cami's love story is one that you will hold close to your heart long after the last page is read!

I wish I could give this more than 5 Stars! Highly recommend!!

Something Just Like This is the third book in Lisa Shelby's You and Me series. In this book, readers get the to see the evolution of love between Cami and Liam. Having met four years prior at their best friends wedding, the two only begin to get to know one another better after Liam moves to Portland to further his family's business. But the more they get to know one another, the more the flame begins to burn between the two. Each have insecurities that have the potential to derail their new relationship. Will they overcome them or let their insecurities continue to rule their lives?

I enjoyed Something Just Like This. I thought Lisa Shelby wrote a good book that readers should enjoy as a quick and easy read. It was written in duel POV so we definitely got a taste for both characters perspectives. I had a hard time with how little Liam thought of himself, even if I understood why he had diminished self worth. Confidence in a man or woman is huge and the constant knocking of his self worth was a drawback for me. One the other hand, Cami was very strong and new what she wanted from life. Since all too often this role is reversed in romance stories, I did like how strong the heroine was, but not at the expense of our hero. Lisa's a talented author and the story was good. I had a hard time staying focused on it to start but about the time that Cami and Liam are able to move past a friendship to a love interest with one another, I started to enjoy the story more. It was a little slow for me. The plot was fairly light, and easy to follow. Lisa's characters all interact a great deal. Therefore well it is a standalone, it does make sense to read the series in order to enjoy the storyline better.

Other then being a little slow for my tastes, Lisa Shelby writes sweet romances that audiences will enjoy. This book was well written. It was fairly lite in the angst department and in sexy times side of things. There is some of both, just not an overwhelming amount of either. Cami and Liam are a definitely an opposites attract set of characters, which was a fun addition to this latest You and Me series book. Overall, it's a solid four star read.

This is the first book I've read by Lisa Shelby, and all I can say is how have I not read her before?!?!
This book had me hooked from the first line, and I couldn't put it down! This book is packed with all the feels!! I fell in love with Liam and Cami from the start. Talk about two people perfectly made for each other! What starts out as an awesome friendship between them, turns into an amazing love story. Their journey isn't easy or perfect, and they almost lose each other, but in the end they are stronger than ever! I absolutely loved this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! I highly recommend this book!😉❤
This is book 3 in the You and Me series, but can be read as a standalone.

I just finished this book and I feel for Cami. Her not so easy life is something to deal with. When you have to learn to not depend on anyone but you, you tend to loose that neediness that makes men feel like a man. Liam is this amazing man that isn’t what Cami remembers and starts a friendship with him. She sees things that need to be address but she’s also starting to have feelings for him and that changes everything. Both Cami and Liam have to workout some things for themselves and each other. Great book.
