This was the 1st time I have read a book by Kelsey Woods.. and while it was an okay read, I didn't really see a plot.. it just seemed like it was "a day in the life of a ballet teacher who fell for a stranger" .. (enter the smut).

Kelsey Woods takes readers on a captivating journey through the delicate world of ballet and the unexpected twists life can take in her novel, "That's Not The Pointe." The story revolves around Lettie, a woman deeply committed to her ballet studio in the charming town of Coal Lake.

Lettie's world is intricately tied to her love for ballet, and she finds solace and purpose within the walls of her studio. However, the arrival of the handsome and charismatic Andrew, who takes on the role of a music teacher at the local high school, sets in motion a series of events that challenge Lettie's well-established rules and routines.

Woods masterfully weaves a narrative that explores the transformative power of love and the unexpected paths it can lead us down. As Lettie and Andrew's worlds collide, readers are taken on an emotional rollercoaster filled with passion, self-discovery, and the complexities of navigating change.

The author skillfully portrays the tension between Lettie's dedication to her art and the magnetic pull of newfound emotions. The character development is rich, allowing readers to connect deeply with Lettie as she grapples with the shifting dynamics of her life.

The setting of Coal Lake adds an enchanting backdrop to the story, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the novel. Woods beautifully describes the dance of emotions and the subtle nuances of relationships, creating a vivid and immersive experience for the reader.

"That's Not The Pointe" is a compelling tale that goes beyond the surface of a love story, delving into the depths of personal growth and the courage it takes to embrace change. Kelsey Woods has crafted a narrative that resonates with authenticity and leaves a lasting impression. Whether you're a fan of romance, drama, or simply enjoy a beautifully written story, this novel is sure to captivate your heart and soul.

Oh my goodness, this book was absolutely beautiful! 💜

Lettie is a woman who has a never-ending to-do list and is always in constant motion, never giving herself a much needed break. One day, everything changes for her. And that is when Andrew meets her! They both instantly felt an attraction, but she knew she didn't have time for a man in her life. But boy oh boy was Andrew persistent! And let me tell you, this man is off the charts! His personality is perfect for Lettie and he's someone that she has never encountered in her life before!

I absolutely loved everything about this story. The build up between Andrew and Lettie. Seeing Lettie let go of her stress overload. Watching their relationship unfold. Everything about this book just completely won me over. 😍

Now I wouldn't complain if we got to see these two again because again, I just loved them both so much!

Omg! Omg! Omg! This novella was not nearly long enough yet it fit everything so nicely without feeling rushed! The adorable meet-cute, the glimpse of the ballet world, the MMC having the skills needed to save the day, and the spice! Oh the spice! What could be more perfect than a ballet teacher and a music teacher coming together! So many complimentary ✨talents✨ - flexibility and finger dexterity. I can't say enough about how much I loved reading this! And the cover is just flawless 😍 Kelsey Woods is one of my favourite indie authors for a reason!

This was a superb fast paced love story!❤️ I love reading about artsy characters (ballerina FMC and a pianist MMC), and age gap is one of my favorite tropes to read! The chemistry between Lettie and Andrew was instant and I loved how they balanced each other out. Let’s not forget about the spice and the mouth on Andrew!😏

“𝑮𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒖𝒑 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅, 𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒆. 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖.”

Lettie is a ballet studio owner getting ready for her first big production. Andrew is a piano teacher who meets Lettie in a coffee shop and doesnt take no for an answer after asking her out. When issues come up that threaten to hault Lettie’s dance production, will she accept an offer from Andrew?! The journey to their happily ever after was so fun to read!

You’ll enjoy this story if you like:

I gave this novella:

I have so many words to describe this wonderful novella. It’s about woman who teach young girls about ballet. It’s so beautiful way to capture the story. Lettie is woman who teaching young girls and how rewarding it is to her. Andrew is very supportive to Lettie’s career. He did fall in love and fall hard! It’s one of several tropes to describe about the book. I personally really liked characters separate but when they are together, it’s fairy tale love. There’s some plots in book made me giggling like little girl. The book is short book which is perfect if you want quick read!

Cute novella. Bit weird about him not telling her he was a music teacher, I haven’t met a teacher who specializes that hasn’t told me what they teach. Also does her studio not have employees? I got confused by the sisters randomly showing up but never meeting her, but then the next seen she knows stuff about them.

BUT!!! The spice was spicing.

Kelsey Woods’ HEA novella, That's Not The Pointe, is on fire. However, beyond the spice, it's everything nice. As someone who grew up taking ballet and had the stereotypical dream of one day growing up to be a prima ballerina, I might me a little biased when I say I loved this story. Andrew is a dream. The ultimate night in shining armor. If you want a quick-paced short and steamy little HEA novella, this is one to check out.

I liked how it didn't feel like their relationship is going too fast. At first, yes, especially since they spent the night together after meeting a day earlier. But then we see them spend all the time together that they are really getting to know each other and all that. It was written as if they were dating for months but it was only just days.

I liked how Andrew was so thoughtful and so supportive of Lettie. Also, the smut scenes too! Those were HOT. There were a lot of “me when” moments too.

This is one of those novellas where I'm satisfied with the ending but I wouldn't mind if this eventually turned into a whole book. I mean, I'd like to know how they fight and make up and the wedding too!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lettie is a 25 year old ballet studio owner and instructor. She loves to dance and when the opportunity came up to buy the dance studio that she danced at as a student, she took the chance with the hope that she can teach younger students to love dance as much as she does. Lettie finds herself pirouetting through life. When a chance encounter with Andrew, a high school music teacher, in a coffee shop sparks a romantic interest, Lettie is hesitant to embrace change. But Andrew knows all the right ways to make Lettie's life easier for her.

That’s Not The Pointe by Kelsey Woods is a good fast burn, contemporary, spicy romance. This little novella just solidifies my reasoning that Kelsey is one of my top auto read authors! In just a few pages I was captivated and in love with Lettie and Andrew. Lettie, who was so strict about her routine and schedule, shows so much growth when she starts letting Andrew into her life. I love Lettie’s passion and dedication to her students. Equally, I love how much thought Andrew puts into his children even going as far as creating a new music program for them. Andrew is a man who believes the saying “when you know, you know”, and he knows. This man is the ultimate book boyfriend material. He helps Lettie relax and unwind, he takes care of her without ever being asked to, and the sweet surprise! And he has a naughty mouth to boot! Oh this man. Kelsey really does a wonderful job showing the instant chemistry between Lettie and Andrew. It’s the perfect valentines novella!

I read this book as an eARC, courtesy of Happily Booked PR, though all thoughts, feelings, and opinions are my own.

Title: That’s Not the Pointe
Author: Kelsey Woods
Star: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

Kelsey Woods has done it once again. She has captured my heart and mind with her words and story telling. In just a few pages, Woods was able to captivate me and make me fall in love with the characters. Woods brought Lettie and Andrew to life in a way that I wasn’t expecting. Not only that, but these two are a true representation of meant to be and “when you know you know.”

I think out of the two of them Lettie is the one that showed the most growth. While I truly loved seeing how passionate and deviated she was to her studio and students, I was ecstatic when she finally decided to give Andrew a chance. She learned to relax and that all she had to do was find the right person to fit into her life so she could have whatever she set her mind to.

Andrew…Andrew…Andrew. I don’t even know where to start. Men like him don’t come around very often. From the very beginning, one can tell that his intentions were genuine and that he fell first and HARD. The man freaking laundered her skirt for crying out loud! Not that’s something you don’t see or even read about everyday. Andrew demonstrated what it means to be a good partner by supporting and helping Lettie instead of complaining or squashing her. He did everything he could to make sure Lettie was happy and taken care of which I absolutely loved to see.

This was my second work by Kelsey Woods and I’m happy to see that it certainly won’t be the last. She has such a way in making her characters and stories truly addictive. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store.

Main Characters: Lettie & Andrew

Lettie is a ballet studio owner and instructor at the young age of 25. She loves to dance and when the opportunity came up to buy the dance studio that she danced at as a student, she took the chance with the hope that she can teach younger students to love dance as much as she does.

Andrew is a high school music teacher BUT before that, he played music professionally.

Andrew notices Lettie at a coffee shop one day and went to try to grab her attention, but Lettie was in a rush and flew out the door. Andrew followed her and when she dropped her ballet skirt, he rushed to give it back to her. Upon returning it, their chemistry was immediate, almost an instant lust type of situation. However, when Andrew asked her for a date, she turned him down because she didn’t have time for anything outside of the studio (her dance studio was putting on a Valentine’s day performance/recital and that had her attention). Andrew was overwhelmed with wanting to win her over. It turns out, that when Andrew does start to win her over, their lives comingle perfectly AND Andrew is very swoon-worthy!

…and well, if you want to know what happens next, you will have to read to find out!

This was my first ballet dance/music romance and I was definitely not disappointed! I wouldn’t be mad if we saw these characters again in more of a full-length novel type of situation! Right now, their story can be found in the Fourteen Shades of Red Romance Collection!

I recently had the pleasure of diving into the novella "That's Not the Pointe" by Kelsey Woods, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight from start to finish!✨

First and foremost, the characters in this novella are nothing short of amazing. I instantly became captivated by their unique personalities and quirks, and their chemistry was undeniable. 🧪 The romance woven into the storyline is beautifully crafted, and it had me hooked from the beginning.💕

What sets this novella apart are the delightful tropes expertly incorporated into the plot. The 'he falls first' trope adds extra excitement to the story, keeping me eagerly turning the pages to see how it all unfolds. 📖 The age gap and secret millionaire elements bring depth and intrigue, making the characters' journey even more compelling.

One of the highlights for me was the spicy and playful banter between the two main characters. It added a perfect blend of humor and tension, creating a dynamic with me grinning from ear to ear. 😁 The dialogue felt authentic, and I couldn't get enough of their interactions.

Kelsey Woods crafted a gem with "That's Not the Pointe."💎 The novella is a symphony of romance, tropes, and engaging characters that entertained me thoroughly. If you're a fan of heartwarming love stories with a lot of spice and a lot of charm, this novella is an absolute must-read!

Lettie is a ballet dancer, she lives, breathes, eats, sleeps ballet. Her dream was always owning her own ballet school training children everything ballet.

Lettie's days are long and nights are lonely, she's married to her passion and don't have time for anything or anyone else in her life. Dating is definitely of the table as they never understand her passion and her work schedule.

One day on her way to get dance studio she loses an item from her bag, and a kind, tall dark and handsome man called out to her to return it. Sparks fly and so does Lettie, she runs. She can't have Mr tall dark and handsome, she has no time for men right now.

Andrew moved to the town not long ago he needed something different and after being left land by his uncle, he got a job teaching music in the high school. Music is his passion. But sometimes we all need a break from what we love. He's seen Lettie around and he thinks she's the most beautiful women he's seen, he's really smitten by her and after their encounter with giving back her lost item he's determined to get to know her better. And get to know her better he does.

They spend time together and have a really wonderful time. Lettie realises that being with him isn't a bad thing infact it's great, he makes her feel safe, relaxed and like a prince. And supports her in her passion everyway possible. And she loves it , she loves him. Love at first sight? I would say so. Two souls finally being one.

"My sweetheart or my dirty girl? Which one do you want to be? I tipped my head, both? Answer!! Hurry, I can't wait any longer. Dirty girl, I want to be your dirty girl!"

Lettie and Andrews story is sweet, fast paced, funny and steamy. It was so good I couldn't put it down, the ending made me gasp. Kelsey has written a wonderful story with great characters. I can't wait to read more by her. I highly recommend.

Lettie runs her own ballet studio, where she is committed to only it. One day at a code shop in Coal Lake's, she noticed a man checking her out. She drops something on her way out.

Andrew is the music teacher at the local high school. He's checking out Lettie when he notices her, so something. He picks it up and chars after her to give it back and ask her out on a date.

The chemistry is there between the two, and they are definitely attracted to each other. But Lettie doesn't have time to date. Her sole focus is her ballet studio and what happens inside of it. That's OK, Andrew is going to break down her walls and win her over. They fit together perfectly.

This is a fast-paced, spicy Valentine's novella. It's super cute read, and full of smut. It's part of the 14 Shades of Red Collection. 14 books by 14 different authors. There wasn't that much of a plot, but if it would have been a full novel, it would have been good, probably. The author wrote it well for what it was.

I read this as an Advance Readers Copy and this is my honest opinion.

That's Not The Pointe by Kelsey Woods is part of the Fourteen Shades of Red Valentine novella series. I love how Kelsey can make the reader feel like they  know and love the characters in the first few sentences of the character's POV. She writes a small town romance as good as anyone I've ever read. Lettie is a dance teacher in the small Canadian town of Coal's Lake. She is perfectly satisfied, inspiring young dancers to be the best they can be as opposed to big city living and chasing the big stage. Andrew had the big stage for a bit, playing piano professionally in an orchestra, taking bows, and having the spotlight in the big city.  He is now quite satisfied giving up the limelight to teach music to high school students and living a small town life. They meet by accident, but it seems Cupid is at work in this sweet, spicy, short romance. Andrew pursues Lettie, but she finds she doesn't mind all of the thoughtful, romantic gestures he does for her. His calm demeanor complements her high-strung type A personality to perfection. This story left me with all of the Valentine’s feels. I sighed when I closed my Kindle... and wished very hard I had an Andrew. 🩷

🩰 That’s Not the Pointe by Kelsey Woods 🩰

Mini Review for this sweet & spicy novella:

First of all, I don’t even remember signing up to eARC read for this text, but I’m so glad it just appeared in my email to read 😂

Lettie, a successful business owner of her own dance studio, is almost more committed to her studio than anything else. Which is admirable, but problematic, if you’re Andrew and very eager to take Lettie out on a date.

It’s a quick, heartfelt read that has a swoony MMC and determined (maybe stubborn?) FMC. Oh, and there’s some (actually a good bit for a novella) spice too 😅

I’m not a dancer and never was, but I do like seeing more and more passions represented in literature. And it’s not like our characters are *just* passionate in a passive way, but in a determined, no holds back way.

I truly wish this was a fuller length novel because I would have loved to have seen so much more, but that’s doesn’t take away from how wonderful the overall novella is. I’m just greedy 🫣

When Andrew saw Lettie drop her skirt, he ran after her to return it. After talking to her, he knew he had to ask her on a date. Lettie is too busy to date, though. She runs her own ballet studio, and her Valentine's Recital is just weeks away. An unexpected occurrence threatens to derail the recital, but there's a way to save it if Lettie's willing to let love in.

I was so sad when I got to the last page of That's Not The Pointe. This novella was just not long enough. Men like Andrew are far and few between. He did some of the sweetest, kindest, and most romantic things for Lettie to make sure that she was cared for and supported in their relationship. All men need to read this and take notes. Lettie was so sure she didn't have time for a relationship, but Andrew showed her that he could make their relationship work around her schedule and needs. How sweet is this man? Andrew and Lettie had the perfect chemistry inside and outside the bedroom. This novella is a reminder of the true meaning of love.

This is a spicy novella out just in time for a Valentine's Day read! Lettie is a 25 year old ballet studio owner that is married to her work. Andrew is a retired from the symphony and has become a high school teacher after inheriting land in Coal Lake. He built a beautiful home just outside town and is very well off.

Lettie drops her favorite ballet skirt and Andrew finds it. He attempted to return it with no luck after it fell on the dirty ground. What was he to do? Well, he tracked down her ballet studio, sat through an entire class, and used his charm to get Lettie to go on a date.

That date turns into quite a bit more and Andrew works hard to show Lettie she doesn't have to swear off men. The right man would make her feel empowered, happy and supported, so Andrew sets out to show her this.

Kelsey doesn't leave us hanging at the end either. There is an epilogue that shows what kind of happy ending works for Lettie.

Ok wow! This was so good! I adore Andrew and his amazingly supportiveness!!!!! He is the most kind and loving guy!! Lottie is so over worked - running her own ballet studio, trying to organise a valentines show and all the admin that goes with it, she feels love is an extra chore you don’t need. Enter Andrew during the best meet cute ever. Ok he comes across a little stalkery to begin with BUT it’s totally not that! He ends up with her ballet skirt and is determined to return it to her AND convince her that love is NOT a chore but something to cherish. I found Lottie to be super relatable - especially in the getting caught up in her job bit…

I adored every bit of this - from the perfect romantic gestures Andrew makes, to the fantastic spice!!!!! I think we all need an Andrew in our lives to whisk us away to a wonderful log cabin, make us food, fabulous baths and make beautiful music (you’ll see! 😉)

Lettie & Andrew

Andrew is persistent…you can definitely give him that
While Lettie is very determined…she knows what she wants in life & how to get it…well if she just wouldn’t forget some of the details

I loved their story….I was a dancer for 13 years (from 3-16 years old) so any books with dancers in it always holds a special place in my heart

Lettie always thought she didn’t have time for dating…it wasn’t that she didn’t have time she just had a bad picker…fortunately for her Andrew’s picker was spot on…he knew if he wanted a relationship with Lettie it had to be on her terms & with no distractions to her dreams….oddly enough some of THEIR dreams lined up…I love when that happens…makes everything feel right in the world

If you are looking for a quick read where he falls first & hard plus contains plenty of spice give it a read…perfect for Valentines Day

That’s Not the Pointe by Kelsey Woods

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 5 stars
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - 4 peppers of spice

This novella is absolutely captivating!! I read the whole thing in one sitting and when it ended I just wanted so much more!!

Andrew ran into Lettie at a coffee shop, he was working up the courage to speak to her and she’s on her way out. What Lettie didn’t know was she was dropping her favorite ballet skirt, which Andrew catches before it hits the snow.

Their first interaction had me HOOKED. Their connection was so deep and so right from the beginning. Through out the novella you’ll see just how right they are together.

This novella releases on January 28th and it’s a MUST READ.

I absolutely love reading everything Kelsey Woods writes and cannot wait to see what the future holds. Thank you Kelsey and Happily Booked PR for the advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

I immediately devoured this as soon as the arc hit my inbox😩
As always Kelsey’s writing makes you feel connected to the characters and care about them almost right away. She has a way to make them feel real and romantic that I just love.

Andrew comes into her life and is determined to bring peace and balance to Lettie’s busy and stressful lifestyle. From making her dinner to saving her recital, I loved how there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her.

My only con would it be that it’s a novella and not a full book bc I couldn’t get enough of them ❤️

If you like FAST burn(bc let’s be real it’s a novella so what do you expect 🤷🏽‍♀️),Insta-love and no shortage of spicy scenes🥵 then I definitely recommend reading this!

Thank you Kelsey Woods and Happily Booked Pr for the ARC! All opinions are honest and my own.
