Looking for some angsty tough FMC with a golden retriever bad boy MC?! Look no further.

Did I also mention there are cows?! 🐮

Tierney is the epitome of survival and strength. I love her sass and no f’s given attitude when it comes to Elias. Their push and pull plays out really well throughout the story, and keeps their tension building until it breaks! 🫶🏼

I can’t wait to see what the next stories in the series bring with them! I want to know all about the Thornwood Brothers 🖤

I liked the first book in this new series! It is an emotional story of the MCs picking themselves up and finding themselves again.

This started out strong and honestly had a lot of potential. The premise pulled me in right away. There were two broken people trying to rebuild their lives after trauma with a fresh start. The prologue especially did its job and made me want to keep reading. Tierney’s storyline was the highlight for me, and I liked her character and the idea of her healing and finding herself again.

But...this book just didn’t work for me. The biggest issue was the writing style. There was way more description and inner monologue than actual dialogue. I found myself skimming pages just to find quotation marks, because I was seriously craving conversations between the characters. So much time was spent inside their heads that it slowed everything down and made the story feel heavy, even when interesting things should have been happening.

Also, the pacing was weird. Elias was "all in" almost immediately, and big emotional leaps happened way too fast for me to believe or feel invested in. I also struggled with the time jump between the prologue and the main story. Tierney felt like a totally different person, and I wish we had seen more of her growth on the ranch before Elias came into the picture.

Tierney was a character I genuinely liked, but Elias was harder to connect with. His internal thoughts didn’t always match his dialogue, and his maturity felt inconsistent, which made his character confusing at times. He was doting on her and then angry that she was even there in the same minute.

I just couldn’t fully connect to the story or the romance. The lack of dialogue, rushed emotional connection, and overly descriptive style pulled me out of it. This is an author I chose to read because of an upcoming event, so while this book didn’t hit for me, I’m still open to trying more of K. T. Maddan’s work.

This books has started with some darkness, you can feel it in the writing. It is descriptive and the writer does well with getting you to relate to the FMC, feel and understand what she is going through. Because it is true, no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors.
Tee has had enough so she sneaks out in the middle of the night and finds herself working on a cattle ranch. She is a shell of her former self and she wants to keep her head down and put her life back together. In the beginning you can see the changes in Tee and how she is slowly getting back her confidence, I think it helps when you have people around you that are super supportive.
When we meet Eli, he is coming home after 5 years in prison. So many things have changed for him when he gets home and then on top of it, he is having feelings that he doesn’t quite know what to do with, so he gets angry and lashes out. He knows it's his fault he went away, but it doesn’t make things any easier on him, and he is struggling to deal with all of the changes. By this time however, Tee has grown some, so she doesn’t back away from him.
These two dance around each other and as much as Eli wants to see what there is between them, the more Tee puts up her walls and pushes him away.
I really did enjoy the way words were used in this story, I loved the metaphors and analogies, but I did feel at times they were a smidge too much. Almost like the same sentence was repeated, but with different words. Despite this, it was a good story.
There was one thing I have to disagree with and that is men don't 'swoon'. They will puff their chest, or they'll smoulder, but for me, they don't swoon.
Moving through the story, it was good to see Tee, finally be free and start to take her life back, thigs like that are never easy when you've been stuck for so long. I loved how all the other side characters complimented the story and i feel like there's a few more stories in here that I'm keen to read, like where the hell did Sarah come from and how is it just normal after so much time away? I need that story!
A really good, insta-attraction, where he falls first. Well done and thank you!

I received Whispers of Redemption in return for an honest review.

I loved Tierney she's had to reinvent herself and found a new passion for life again. Elias is a great counter part to her he's had a rough road but now that he's home he has the chance to make it right. I loved the chemistry between them it's sweet yet steamy right from the start they have this sizzling spark.

I devoured Whispers of Redemption in just one afternoon it was hard to put down I was hooked on Tierney and Elias's story. The author has done a awesome job creating characters that I was really able to connect with. They even pulled at my heart strings a little a they learned to love again.

This is my first book by the author and I'm addicted to her writing style it was easy to get lost in the story and impossible to put down till the very last page. Whispers of Redemption is a beautiful story that captured my heart as well a my imagination. It's a perfect blend of story with just the right balance of spice. I can't wait to dive right into the next in the series which I plan to right away. Highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy a contemporary romance with a little darkness in the story. One of my favorites of 2024.

This isn’t your typical small town romance. But it is filled with love, determination and family.
First of all you have Tierney, a woman who has endured something awful and still came out as the strongest badass of them all. What I admired about her was her no-nonsense approach especially to our mmc Elias. Who is by all accounts perseverance embodied. This man spent 5 years in prison and when he came out Tierney was living with his dad and his brother on their farm. Elias was a golden retriever who spent the better part of the book trying to convince Tierney to let down her walls. He was persistent, but still respectful about her boundaries. I recommend this book if you want to start with dark romance. Because it does have some heavy themes and it gives a great introduction into the genre.

📕 * I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All my opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this story from KT Maddan - a bit less dark than I'm used to from her, but still beautifully written.

The book tells the story of the FMC, Tierney, who flees an abusive relationship to end up as a ranch hand. When the one of the sons in the ranch family, Elias, comes home from jail, they develop a romance that must withstand both of their pasts and the walls they've put up.

This is a bit of a slow burn, and I felt like the pacing was slow at times, but overall I loved the story. The found family aspect and the unflinching love between the MCs are inspiring to read about.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

Whispers of Redemption completely stole my heart! Tierney and Eli’s love story is everything I could ask for in a cowboy romance. The Thornwood brothers are seriously swoon-worthy, especially Eli! 🥰 Reading about Tierney healing and finding love after everything she went through was so emotional. I couldn’t put it down! If you love curling up with a good book, this is the perfect cosy escape. I’m obsessed! And now to get straight into Whispers of Devotion!

“I would do whatever it took to ensure Tee never felt the need to run again.” Oh Eli. I cannot even tell you how much of his dialogue is highlighted on my kindle. Found family. Cowboys. A girl on the run. A guy with a troubled past. A ranch. Forced proximity. Love after trauma. Enemies to lovers. “I’m so happy you found me in the darkness.” Immediately five stars.

Whispers of Redemption by K.T. Maddan is the first book in the Whispers of Cedarbrook Series. This is the story of Tierney and Elias. Tierney was very brave and left her bad situation but she does have to keep looking over her shoulder. But she is starting fresh the best she can. Elias just got out of prison after serving 5 years. Elias too is wanting to start fresh but is taken back when he meets Tierney staying with his family. Enjoyed this book and I can't wait for more in this series.

"One of these days, I swear I’ll keep a lasso on me just to reel her back every time she runs away. She thinks running away will cause me to do the same. But nothing can keep me away from her, not even her demons."
Another fantastic read from an indie author I discovered because I signed up to ARC read her newest story. However, because I'm me & I don't like to start a series unless it's from the beginning, I wanted to read this one first. And boy am I glad I did! It's great!
“'You are the most frustratingly beautiful woman I have ever met,' he confessed, his words seemingly emerging from the depths of his soul. He swallowed hard. 'But you push me away every time... I just don’t understand.'
'You don’t want me,' I answered softly...
'I want you in the worst way, Tee... More than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life. I would chase you to the ends of the earth to prove that to you.'
With his confession, all doubts and reservations seemed to melt away. The world ceased to exist, and it was just the two of us."
What to say about a book that feels like it was exactly what I needed? Well, I could start off talking about how it’s got depth because both main characters are running away from their past lives filled with mistakes/regrets, some trauma, and the weight of expectations. Or I could talk about how it feels like they were fated for each other (in only the best way) because they compliment one another perfectly. Or I could mention the cat and cow humor woven throughout the story and how it will make you giggle out loud. though this story contains all of these great things, its magnificence comes from the person telling this story: the author. K.T. Maddan’s writing is beautifully descriptive, and the characters are quite compelling. Escaping her abusive past, Tee finds herself working on a cattle farm when one of the brothers returns home from a prison stint after making a mistake in his youth. But they’re more than their troubled pasts, which threaten to swallow them in darkness. Fortunately, they’ve found each other & this story of survival, love, protection & the beauty of a fresh start.
"'Eli, I… I can’t stay away from you.’
'Then don’t... Tee, break your rules for me, or watch as I continue to prove to you, that I am the exception...'
'Sometimes...' she whispered, her words floating like a soft exhale, 'It feels like you want to disappear, but I just wanted to be found.'”
There's some difficult subject matter (check your CWs!), but it's tackled respectfully. And there's humor and heart sprinkled throughout killer, swoony lines you're guaranteed to love. I really liked this story because of its small town, haters to lovers, story of survival & redemption.
"'Why me, Eli?' I asked hesitantly.
'Why anyone else when you exist?'”
And enjoy some of my favorite quotes, but this is by no means all of them... this book is full of sweet & swoon-y moments!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 26%.
Honestly... I just can't continue. I got 5 chapters in, I gave it a chance, and it let me down.

I really don't like the way this was written. You can't tell the POV's (Tierney and Elias) apart.
Elias sounds like an overdramatic woman. His internal dialogue vs his external dialogue are polar opposites and it seems like that is just done to make him out to be the bad guy.

I have tons of notes in my kindle on everything.

I feel bad because this was an ARC, but I just really did not enjoy it.

Prologue was 18 pages... that dragged like hell. Which is crazy to me because we don't get to see what any of the characters look like (not even the MC or her abusive boyfriend), we don't really get to see any of how she is feeling. She said she feels anxious, but she doesn't act like that, and it's not elaborated on in the slightest. So, as a reader, I couldn't ever tell that she is mentally "damaged" because of this abuse and this toxic relationship that she is in. It baffles me how we really don't actually get much yet it's 18 pages long. At the end of the prologue, she makes a life-changing decision that she should realistically be broken up about, she should be worried and scared, but she is not. She just goes on about her life like this is a simple errand she has to run.

Elias sounds like an overly emotional woman. The tone is the same as Tierney’s POV, which is frustrating in and of itself. But everything seems like it’s overdone. Things are overly described. Especially for being in a ranchers POV. It doesn’t seem realistic for a rancher in his 20’s to reminisce on the timeless, classic look of his parents ranch. Every chapter in this book so far has been excessively long, and has dragged while not much is actually happening. Each of these chapters could have been cut in half, but then it wouldn't really be much of a story (spoiler... because there just isn't really a story being told here). Elias is just fucking dumb. He is kind of portrayed as this soft-hearted person, but then he acts like a dick to everyone he talks to, and is surprised when they get pissed off and tell him off. I don't like this dynamic. I don't like the way Elias is. I don't really like the writing.

In Chapter 3, the writing started getting a little better except for the fact that the writing is literally the same for Tierney and Elias... which it shouldn't be. The writing works for Tierney, but it does not for Elias.

Note: This is supposed to be an ongoing series... I think this book should be a one-and-done. It should have been one POV (Tierney's) and then maybe have some novella's on other peoples POV's. There doesn't seem like there is any actual plot. There is no goal that they are reaching. They're just trying to get along, which doesn't make for a very interesting story.

At the end of the day, I have nothing against this author, I just hope that maybe she will see this, not take any offense to it (because I truly don't mean any, I would just rather be honest than lie), and maybe edit some things, or keep these notes in mind for future books/stories.

𝑴𝒀 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾: 📝

A story of finding love and healing together with the most unexpected person you could have ever thought to have with.

I was Team Tierney right from the first page especially after witnessing her being a shell of a person and being shackled for being at fault for loving the wrong person.

Tierney has had it all, coming from a wealthy family, working for a news channel and a loving fiance.
But what people think are her blessings are in actuality a facade and a painful prison for her and every day that goes, she finds herself being more tied up and suffocating in emotional distress not counting the physical abuse.

Elias is just out of prison after five years and even though he is ecstatic to have his freedom back and happy to be back at his ranch, yet one thing he dislikes is this unknown person being part of his family the way he was supposed to be.

How will these two ever mend their differences and what about the danger that is bound to catch up to Tierney one day, how would she ever fight against it?

Oohhh... The first few times Elias and Tierney clash were flying embers.
Elias was a major 𝖠𝗌𝗌𝗁𝗈𝗅𝖾 at the start but I absolutely loved that in spite of her past, Tierney didn't take things lying down and gave back double just as good and I loved watching their showdown every time they would interact.

The cozy and homely feel of the ranch and working and seeing the daily simplicity of a life there, had me feeling in awe of how hard working these people are.

Elias' father, Ben and Brother, Luke were fantastic men who back Tierney as if she were their own family.
My heart melted for these people who take Tierney under their wings and give her a much needed chance.

Then there's, Aria, Tierney's bestie and a 𝖻𝖺𝖽𝖺𝗌𝗌 girl herself. Although, I'm oh so curious about her past with Ethan, Elias' younger brother.

Also, Matt the bar owner has me wanting to know what is the secret behind this man who might be a good friend but definitely something seems dark about his past.

And that ending, oh my, I can't believe who's back after all these years. The only girl that Luke has ever loved and why is she back after all these years?! I hope we get their story too.

*I want to preface this review by saying I don’t think this book was poorly written overall. I just think the characters made stupid decisions and the romance wasn’t convincing enough for me to enjoy this book. Even though I didn’t like the main characters, I did enjoy the side characters! I think the author has shown that they have good technical writing skills and I think in the future I could see myself revisiting a different book of theirs. This one just was not for me but I’m happy for those who did enjoy it.

Elias’s inner monologue was completely contradicted by the way he acted and the hateful things he would say which completely threw me for a loop. He would think one thing and then turn around and say something completely opposite of that. And then complain and whine when Tierney would run from him. What the fuck did you expect? You said she doesn’t belong here and that she shouldn’t have any say when it comes to the ranch because she isn’t family even though she’s been busting ass since she arrived. Like she has been there to help your dad when you couldn’t and this is the thanks she gets? *eye roll* This was really noticeable in the beginning. It gave me whiplash and it just wasn’t enjoyable reading his character. And I understand he’s having to make changes and having to come to terms with everything that has happened while he spent 5 years in prison but that’s not an excuse for him to behave like an ass to Tierney.
This also made the romantic connection suffer with the FMC. I didn’t feel the chemistry, I didn’t like them together, and in the end I kind of just stopped caring about the story as a whole.

Tierney’s character was written better in my opinion. She is more consistent and firm in her thoughts, emotions, personality. There are so many ways that people internally and externally deal with abuse of all kinds so I’m not going to comment on how she dealt with that or how she was acting in terms of being a victim and survivor of DV/DA. Because while she doesn’t act like how I might or someone else might, she’s valid in her lived experiences and how she is processing day to day life outside of that toxic relationship.

And that ending? I’ve never been so exasperated by a characters choice of actions:
Gets in a car wreck, sees Eli is unconscious, calls his brother Luke instead of 911. Instead hollers to the driver of the other vehicle that they might need an ambulance. Bitch call 911!
THEN after Nolan is dead, instead of calling the police (because Eli says he will be arrested again if he’s caught in this situation: on what grounds?? It’s self defense. The guy kidnapped someone and had stabbed you with a knife! It wasn’t even Eli that shot Nolan nor was it Eli’s gun) Tee decides to instead do the one thing that got Eli sent to jail in the first place: commit arson and burn the building down. So dumb. Like he got sent to prison for arson so don’t you think a burned down building would be sus and make the cops look right back at Eli?????

“To all those who did not survive, In the pages of my book, I pay tribute to your strength, your courage, and the battle you fought. Your stories, though often untold, live on as a reminder of the immense challenges you faced. Your memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. For those who continue to face their own struggles, may this book serve as a testament to your resilience and a source of inspiration.”

Whispers of Redemption was a transformative story about two people from two different parts of the world living two very different lives. Tierney is looking to escape her abusive life, while Elias is looking to rebuild his after a reckless mistake cost him 5 years in prison.

Tee’s sassy, zero fucks given attitude is the perfect contrast to Eli’s angry, guiltily mindset. After beginning to trust each other and revealing pieces of their past, they build a connection that helps them to slowly rebuild the broken pieces of themselves. With help from friends and Eli’s family, Tee and Eli are able to begin a long inner healing process that both desperately need.

Far too often, side characters can get lost in the storyline and as readers we don’t get the opportunity to connect with them, but that is so not the case in Whispers of Redemption. KT did such an amazing job of intertwining the side characters in this story so that they play almost as important of a role as the MC’s, and I truly loved and appreciated that.

Overall this was extremely well written, some tough scenarios were handled with the grace and elegance of someone who you can tell truly cares, and I’m immensely happy that I stumbled upon KT and this book. This may be my first book from her, but I know it will not be my last. I can’t wait for Whispers of Devotion to be released, and to see what the people in this little town are up to!

How is K.T. Maddan going to come out with her first book and its a complete banger? I absolutely love watching as authors have “glow ups” with their writing and over time you really see them settle into their niche. While she is now in more of the dark romance, I will say this was a wonderful start. Book one and I am so ready to read the rest. I am hearing great things about book 3 but so far Elias has me melting!!!

Author K.T. Maddan, it has been so fun to read your first book. Knowing what you write now and being able to enjoy the current writing style is one experience. But to read this, its a different experience and I am loving seeing the beginning of your journey. Absolutely loved how both MC’s were so strong. Strong for different reasons but strong none the less. It was so refreshing to see how Tee did everything she could to stand on her own two feet and fight against her abuse. It may have hurt to watch her continue to push Elias away, it was nice to see how she also accepted his help in the times she needed him the most. She had the sense that he was someone she could let her guard down with but at the same time she was reserved until she knew for sure how to trust him. I cannot get enough of their dynamic through out this book!!!

If you are looking for a light dark romance book to see what dark romance is all about, this is a wonderful book to dip your toes with. It has some trigger warnings to read over first but it was also one of the books that will help you to slowly ease into the dark side. This will be one we start with and then we can head to Bound by Shadows. Then you can get to darker reads.

Tropes: Contemporary Romance, enemies-to-lovers, small town romance, redemption, found family

As Tierney fled her own engagement, determined to leave her past behind, she could still feel the lingering touch of her abuser's hands on her skin. In an Arkansas town, she spent a year rebuilding her self-worth and protecting her heart. The sanctuary she constructed with such care is now her sole possession. After five years in jail, Elias wanted to go back to his family and resume his normal life. But he faced an unexpected twist upon arrival. A woman, full of fire and passion, had become intertwined with every part of his life. She stormed into his world like a tempest, her presence threatening to disrupt the peaceful life he yearned to rebuild. Together, they must face their inner demons, the lurking shadows that cast a constant cloud over their lives. Allowing the protective walls they've meticulously built to crumble, leaving them exposed.

This story of redemption truly touched my heart. Both main characters are starting over in different ways. Tee's journey filled me with righteous anger like so many stories surrounding events such as these, but I was so satisfied with the outcome of her new life. This small town romance embodied all the qualities that have this as one of my favorite tropes. I really hope the author continues with these characters in this small town that reminded me so much of my hometown. I definitely recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨

Thank you to @candikanepr and @ktmaddan for sending me this book as an ARC📚

Who doesn’t like to play with fire occasionally? Especially if you rise from the ashes.

When I initially started Whispers of Redemption, I was fascinated by it and where the story would ultimately lead. The story starts with Tierney, the FMC, needing to make drastic changes to her life and Elias, the MMC, needing to adjust to the changes in life after being away for 5 years. Descriptive writing is what I would use to describe the style of this book. Personally, the descriptive writing style was not something that I enjoyed. It was hard to distinguish the point of view of the main characters due to their internal dialogue being equally similar and it was challenging to differentiate which point of view I was reading from. It did feel like at times I had to skim to read some of the story because things are overly described and there is not a lot of external dialogue between the characters throughout some of the chapters. Elias’ dialogue did not match his internal dialogue, but it did match Tierney’s more so. However, once dialogue was exchanged between the characters, I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to it. Elias definitely gave off golden retriever vibes with his persistence and determination to try and get to know the woman who has made a home for herself on his family farm.

My Rating: 5/5

My Thoughts: I thought K.T. Madden wrote an amazing book for her debut novel. Of course, it has one of my all-time favorite tropes enemies-to-lovers, that immediately hooked me in. It begins with Tierney aka Tee. She comes from a wealthy background, has an amazing job, and a boyfriend who comes from a similar background. She doesn't get a voice in what she wants for her life. Fear of retaliation, she's timid and afraid to speak her true feelings. After becoming engaged to her worst nightmare she gathers enough strength to leave her abusive fiancee and escape the only world she's ever known. Elias is finally a free man and ready to return to his life on the ranch. Unbeknownst to him, there is a new addition to the ranch and a lot has changed these past 5 years while he has been locked away. These two instantly clash upon meeting, but I was so proud of how Tierney had the backbone to stand up for herself throughout Elia's tantrums. These two both have traumatic pasts and learn how to heal and grow together. I understood why Tierney was hesitant to get emotionally and romantically involved with Elias. Elias was patient and protective of her even at times when she frustrated him. I also loved how the Thornwoods embraced Tierney into their family and how protective they were toward her. This book does have darker elements to it, but still has that small-town rancher feel. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next books in this series.

This was my FIRST EVER cowboy read (with a twist) && it definitely won’t be my last. This story follows Tierney and Elias. Tierney is by far one of the strongest FMCs I’ve read about. Can we talk about her courage!? Elias was an instant cinnamon roll who knows what he wants and would do anything for it, including burning the demon who hurt what’s his. I really enjoyed watching Elias and Tierney grow/heal throughout this book and I’m soo happy they got the ending they deserved. 🖤 Rise from the ashes 🫶🏻

•I can’t wait for Aria and Matt’s story!!

✨”I want you in the worst way Tee. More than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life. I would chase you to the ends of the earth to prove that to you.” -Elias✨

✨”I would kill any man who even dared to hurt you. That’s my promise to you.” -Elias✨

Ms. Madden is a new to me author.
The title and the cover of this book caught my attention.
Then when I read the blurb I just had to read it.
The authors writing was amazing.
I could feel what the characters were feeling and what they were going through.
Tierney’s apprehension, her fear, her sorrow and every other emotions running through her.
As well as Elias’ challenges and his struggles.
Getting out of prison after five years I also could feel his unease and his frustrations.
Ms. Maddan was spot on in conveying her characters mixed feelings and emotions to the reader.
I also loved both characters.
Tee is a tough lady. Determined and strong willed.
She grew up with wealth and privilege. Lacked for nothing. Was even engaged into a family of wealth and power.
But as they say looks can be deceiving.
While Elias is dealing with his own problems he’s also determined to knock down the walls Tee has put in place around her heart.
Their journey is an emotional one.
It’s filled with passion and persevance.
And finding love when least expected.
I'm absolutely looking forward to more in the series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Tierney and Elias. This book has some dark themes and you will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contain triggers for some readers. Tierney has endured horrible things. She sees her chance to get away and flees her engagement party. The time has come to rebuild her life and she spent a year in Arkansas healing and rebuilding her self worth. The life she has built and the healing she has done are the only possession she has in the world. Elias has been in jail for five years. He was really excited to go back to his family and start his nurmal life again. He just never expected to get there and Tierney is now intertwined in every part of his life. I loved these characters and they really have been through so much. I loved the rebuilding and the strength and determination that is in this story. It is one I picked up and didn't lay down until I was finished.

A good read with a strong underlying plot. It started very strongly with the introduction of the two main characters, Tierney/Tee and Elias. Both are in need of healing and have deep vulnerabilities, brought on by past experience.
There is much to commend about this book. The courage of Tee in breaking away from her past, and Eli's attempts to make up for his past, though this is little discussed. He's home, and that's that. I found the internal debates by the leads were not always reflected in their words and actions, and there was a constant swapping of past and present tenses. I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong re that, but I kept being knocked out of my focus on the story by my personal awareness of this.
Overall, a great premise with much promise of things to come, solid characters that I want to know more about, especially Ethan..and Sarah's return What will this bring?I look forward to more from this author. 💖💖💖💖

Tee and Eli’s story is not what I expected. At first read it starts in such a dark place, and transforms into this sweet small town, rancher romance. Which is what is needed. A golden retriever meets his skittish black cat in a barn. I love a good slow burn and it’s delivered perfectly.

and while I love all the cows, specifically Gerry. Who doesn’t like a blocker and adventurer. Haha.

But seriously what I thought this book was and what it became was so beautiful. This story showed the empowerment of healing and taking your life back.
How friends become family and most importantly how to ✨burn✨ bridges that hurt you. This story had me gasping, clutching my chest, and grinning like a mad woman.

My first read of 2024 and an incredible one at that. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us for the next book.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Elias and Tierney / Tee’s story.
Tee has had enough and flees in the middle of the night, and she is a shell of the girl she used to be, struggling with self-worth, and finds a job working on a cattle ranch. Elias has just been released from prison after 5-years and is struggling to fit into life with his family and to deal with things which have changed while he has been away. Elias is determined to knock down the walls around Tee’s heart, but they both have demons from the past haunting them.
This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with forced proximity, trauma, angst, survival, enemies / lovers, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartfelt, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

This story is a great story of perseverance and how not everything in life is easy/roses for some.

In the story we meet Tierney/Tee, who has not had an easy past, but is slowly gaining her confidence and life back slowly at her own pace. I love how she full of strength, sass and no "f's given" when it comes to a special someone.

After Elias spends 5 years in jail he comes back to his family farm, but things have changed and he is having a hard time adapting . Not to mention Tee is also living there, btw the two there is a great push and pull relationship. While Elias is trying to approach and persist on things with Tee is is very mindful and respectful to her boundaries she has created.

This book was a great story for the series and can not wait for what is to follow looking forward to the next! 🖤

The prologue got me interested in the story and wanting to continue reading, and I did enjoy the story of the book.
However I have some issues with the writing style. It is extremely descriptive, and for me it’s a bit too descriptive to the point where it throws me off a bit and interrupts the reading flow.

I didn’t really get a grip on the ages of the main characters, and I felt it was kinda hard to know. Especially the MMC, because sometimes he acted so immature in my eyes.
I liked the FMC though, Tierney. I enjoyed her story and her inner monologue and her character.
I think I needed more interactions between the MCs to understand their relationship better.

The ending felt a bit rushed and incomplete, but since it is going to be a series, I assume you will get more understanding and further information in the next book.

This book was just the right amount of angst and romance all wrapped in the pages! Tierny and Elias will suck the reader right into their story and you can lose track of time and lose yourself for a little bit as you fall into this book! What a great read to start off my new year! ~Helen

Both Tierney and Elias are looking to restart their lives. Tierney is running from her past to find herself for the future. Elias is home after 5 years incarcerated. Finding Tierney on his family's land ignites a purpose to do better. This is a good story to get lost in. You know that that the retribution is coming but you have to keep reading to see how they persevere. The drama build was a good balance to getting to the HEA. ~Cindy

The sweetest, most precious couple ever!!

I loved the atmosphere of the book, the interesting storyline, because.. hehehe, as much as you think it's a simple one... be prepared for a shocking plot twist!

The themes of the book are incredible and deserve much more attention from readers. Also, I am IN LOVE with the side characters of this book... they are such a vibe from the MCs to the old man 💗
Such a deep book, with amazing writing style and intricate events!!!

I love this book so much. It was a fun read, a quick one, and light but memorable at the same time ✨️
