I like this book, Perry started out as a lonely kid who's dad and mom got divorced and lived with his dad in Pennsylvania. Then a family that lived not far from Perry that changed Perry's loneliness to now communicating with other people and having more discussions with his dad. Then at the end his mom talked to Perry and now he is becoming happy than before!

LOVED THIS BOOK. I read it in 4th grade and I remember every single detail. It was so easy to get into! It is almost impossible to find though. I've been looking for it for a long time and I just found it.

Strong beginning, the rest was kind of flat

This book is about a boy who is living with his dad up in the mountains in the state Minnesota. Perry (the name of the boy) does not have any neighbors where he lives and his mother left him after his sister died in a car accident. His dad can't talk and Perry doesn't read the letters his mother sends him all the time. he has no neighbors so he just plays with a dog of his. But, a family of girls moves into a house a short distance away. Perry becomes attached to these neighbors and his life changes from there.

This book was not as good as I expected it. It was an easy read and the story did not interest me very much. I chose this book because I am a big fan of the wilderness and love stories about nature and the wild but this book was not one of those stories that I would recommend to anyone.

Perry is a young boy living with his dad. His younger sister was killed in a car accident after which his mother left the family. His dad doesn't talk and Perry doesn't read the letters his mother sends him. They live in a Minnesota wilderness with no neighbors so Perry plays alone with his german shepherd, Rhonda...until a family of girls moves into an abandoned house a short distance away. Then gradually everything changes for Perry. This is a fine novel for a child. It addresses issues that many kids face today including being the only child of a single parent, lonliness, and changing relationships.

I've had this book for a very long time and I read it when I was a child. I decided to read it again as a young adult and still thoroughly enjoyed it. I think this is a good book for any age range. It's not very complicated and so long as a younger child is willing to take on a "challenge" I feel even a seven or eight year old could read it.

Incidentally, this book came to me second hand. I would go second-hand shopping with my grandmother on a regular basis and I would go straight to the bookshelves. This was one of the books that I picked up.

Tragedy drives Perry and his dad to live in the back woods of Minnesota. Perry, eleven years old, is home schooled and is content to explore the woods around his home. Things change when Willow Pestalozzi moves in next door. Willow's open and friendly personality draw Perry out of his shell. This friendship opens a new world for Perry. As much as I liked the characters in Lone Wolf, I felt this was a slow moving story. I kept waiting for the pace to pick up, and it never did. This was an average young adult "coming of age story".

A touching story, but not a lot of excitement. This wouldn't be a good book for a reluctant reader. Someone who likes to read about and explore the deep emotions of loss would find this a good read. A good book for book discussion groups.

Living in the North woods, Perry and his dad have grown accustomed to silence. Since the death of Perry's little sister and his parents' subsequent divorce, the silence is deafening. Then, a very talkative Willow moves into the cabin down the road with her big, loving family and Perry begins to see what he's been missing. As he searches for the mysterious "lone wolf" with Willow, begins eating with the Pestalozzi's and playing monopoly, he finds the companionship that he's been missing.
