I loved her book, Fast Like a Girl, and I was excited to try her fasting program. I was really hoping that this journal would help to keep me on track and motivated, but I found quite a bit of breakdown between the book and the journal. The book was more about healing your body from a cellular level through fasting and eating according to your cycle... The journal focuses heavily on weight-loss and eating disorders. I don't have an issue with either of those things and was really just wanting something that could help me track my cycle, eat the right things during each phase, and help me work my way up to the three day fast (safely). This journal wants me to answer questions like "Do you turn to food for comfort?" "How does eating make you feel?" etc. Which I'm sure are great questions for people with eating disorders or weight issues. It's just not what I was hoping for. Maybe she can re-work it and make it more about eating and fasting with your cycle. Charts, recipes, monthly and daily calendars (for fasting and cycle tracking), maybe lists for meal planning... tracking blood sugar is great because it helps you know what your levels are and how your body is handling the fasting, but it would be nice for her to have included blood sugar ranges so that we all know what is safe. Something I already learned after having gestational diabetes. Idk, the journal wasn't for me I guess.
This book provided so much insight to understand my body and hormones at a much deeper level. Since reading it, my periods have decreased in flow, pain and I've been releasing more weight effortlessly, sleeping better and taking care of self so much more.
I read all the information pages and they were insightful. Everything is from her “Fast Like a Girl” book. I really like the reflection questions she provided here. Can’t wait to use the “Fast Tracking” pages and “Activity Pages” to continue my fasting journey!
