Again, the book is as easy to follow as his recipes, especially for conversion to European measurements, the only problem in my opinion is that photos are missing.
Anche in questo caso il libro é facile da seguire come le sue ricette, soprattutto per la conversione nelle misure europee, l'unico problema secondo me, é che mancano le foto.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
Navigating through the pages of the "Quick and Easy Low Cholesterol Cookbook for Beginners" by Dick Logue, I am struck by the book's commendable layout, which is not only great but also easy to follow, making it accessible for both novice and seasoned cooks. However, the absence of visuals for the featured dishes leaves a slight void in an otherwise well-structured book.
One notable feature is the inclusion of serving sizes for each recipe, positioning this cookbook as an excellent choice for families seeking balanced and nutritious meals. The author's dedication to health-conscious cooking is evident in the detailed nutritional information provided, encompassing carbs, fat, calories, and sodium. This comprehensive data simplifies meal planning and proves invaluable for those actively managing their cholesterol levels.
A unique and personal touch is added to the cookbook through the author's backstory, providing readers with insight into the inspiration behind the recipes. The information about cholesterol is presented for ease of understanding, and the inclusion of details on calculating cholesterol in food adds an educational dimension to the book.
The book's segmentation into sections, offering various meals that ensure culinary variety, is a notable strength. The cookbook caters to different tastes, from condiments to vegetarian options. Including a low-fat baking section further expands its versatility, showcasing tempting recipes that beckon experimentation.
In addition to the recipes, the book provides practical tips to assist readers in staying on a heart-healthy track. The clear and readable layout makes it an ideal resource for beginners and advanced cooks seeking a heart-healthy lifestyle. The nutritional information accompanying each recipe proves to be a valuable resource for individuals aiming to manage their weight and monitor their caloric, fat, sodium, and cholesterol intake.
Overall, the "Quick and Easy Low Cholesterol Cookbook for Beginners" is appreciated for its simplicity, even though the absence of accompanying pictures for the recipes is a notable drawback.
I extend my gratitude to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds and New Shoe Press for providing me with the e-book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very simple cookbook. The recipes look easy to prepare and there is some ethnic variety (e.g., Caribbean Fish Stew). But many of the recipes are pretty standard ones you'd find in any American cookbook. While it is labeled as low-cholesterol, the ingredients required are easy to source. It would make a good gift for someone just starting a household or perhaps someone who's just learned they've got to reduce their cholesterol levels. But I wouldn't buy it myself for one big reason: there are no photos. For me, a big part of food is what it looks like. Without seeing the end result of the recipe, I'm not very inspired to make it.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy of this cookbook. My opinions are my own.
First up, I don't think I've come across a modern cookbook without pictures before - this was disappointing because I am swayed by pictures of food though I appreciate it may not matter to other readers. I was also surprised as how few recipes were vegetarian friendly. And though there is a section on vegetarian mains, the mains felt unimaginative. Who has even been full up on stuffed Portobello mushrooms or wraps filled with just courgette and onion as a main? There were a lot of red meat recipes which I found unusual for a low cholesterol cookbook but I guess this may appeal to those who want to continue to eat saturated fats.
I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Any modern cookbook without any photos must do something incredible to deserve more than 2 stars. Sorry, not sorry, but this is my policy.
This is the second cookbook of the author that I review and I must say I am impressed the recipes do not repeat as much - kudos for that. The lack of pictures still makes this book hard to enjoy.
Some of the recipes are interesting, but without anything to capture your attention it's hard to get into it.
I appreciate that the author states he is not giving medical advice and just sharing recipes that worked for him and his family.
This cookbook gives valuable information about cholesterol in foods at the beginning which would be nice for people who have just been diagnosed with high cholesterol. I have personally had high cholesterol since the age of 20 (hereditary) but my husband just recently found out his cholesterol was high. None of these are particularly difficult recipes. They do require an extensive spice cabinet, but most good recipies do. Definitely could have used some photos in the ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Starting right out the gate with the negative to get it out of the way- there’s no pictures. That can make a break a cookbook and unfortunately I think people will over look this well written, helpful book because of this.
The recipes are well written and wonderfully organized. I love there is a whole chapter on vegetable main dishes. Not just sides or same old same old. The recipes are unique without a lot of hard to find ingredients.
If the pictures were included this may be a 4+ star book for me.
I love to cook, having to watch my Cholesterol it’s important to know what you need to eat more of. And what you need to eat less of. This book gives you some explanation at first about what you need to know, but I miss images. When you cook you eat with your eyes as well, so that’s a bit of a bummer for me. It’s a simple cookbook, good to starts with when you don’t know much about cooking with attention to Cholesterol.
This is a wonderful cookbook that is excellently illustrated. It has great appeal for those of us who like to make many items from scratch. There are a lot of sauces and dressings that will save me from buying jars of overprocessed items. Informative information about the need to lower cholesterol. I will use this often and will consider it a valued part of my recipe collection.
A great book filled with the "basics" that is perfect for anyone looking to adjust their eating habits. I found this really straightforward and simple and I can't wait to try and cook some of these recipes for myself.
Quick and Easy Low Cholesterol Cookbook is a unique cookbook with low-cholesterol recipes. It's a guide to a unique and creative way to lower your cholesterol.
