The book sets out the economic project of the left wing of the UK Labour Party in 1974, just after the election victory that got them into government. It's an ambitious programme that recognises the emerging power of supranational corporations. The solutions proposed (extensive public ownership in profit-making sectors, i.e. not transport and health but tech, retail, etc.) sound almost crazy today. Maybe a sign of how successful the neoliberal regime that followed the Labour govt has been.
