When Darius’ newly founded colony on Umbria Prime is attacked, he fights off the raiders and finds clues that humanity’s old foes – the Iglax – are to blame.
Once again, he’s got to return to the galaxy at large to upgrade his ships, advance his skills, and spread humanity further among the stars.
Along the way, Darius will test-fly alien starships, establish a ‘Top Gun’ style starfighter academy, terraform a triple-planet star system, and face down the galaxy’s best pilot in a winner-takes-all contest. The action’s intense, the space battles sprawling, and the pressure’s always on. And through it all, Darius isn't afraid to push every limit to protect his friends and family!
Right up front I'll simply say that I recommend this book to anybody reading this review. For those not in the know this story was originally supposed to be a one-off. I don't know what happened behind the scenes to allow it to become a series, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the story this far. There certain sad points speckled throughout but also some pretty awesome moments and overall it balances out in my opinion. I'm happy to hear that there's going to be a fourth book. No idea as of the time of this review whether there will be a fifth one. Also the fourth book is only out in ebook form as of right now though I do look forward to doubling back when it gets the audiobook treatment. I tend to flip back and forth between the two versions depending on what I'm doing. The nareadersrrator did a fantastic job. The audio version also has a preview of another book from Royal Guard. Lastly I'll simply say Well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing the story to the audiobook listeners and Amazon .
Reading this ebook was very interesting. A great adventure continues in volume three of this series. Slot of new characters and old ones. Very enjoyable.
