The illustrations were lovely. The challenging thing about reading this to a young one is explaining why so many people would feel Mrs. Peachtree had no business riding a bicycle. It's not easy explaining the idea of suffragettes and women's equality to such a young crowd. I think there is a risk that young minds might absorb some outdated attitudes/ideas from this one. I think this could have been better aimed at an older crowd. Best read in a classroom setting by a prepared educator. High points include the overall message that you should just keep trying. A better book that sends the same message though would be The Little Engine That Could.
