There are some good ones in here, but maybe they are best experienced a little at a time. There's a sameness that gets wearisome. Also, some of these just go on too long. Just because one can pull off one more rhyme doesn't mean one should.

As the title states it, Let's Marry Said the Cherry/i>, is a collection of silly poems by the whimsical mind of N.M. Bodecker. The book also displays humorous illustrations to go along with every poem for a cheerful and upbeat mood as you glide along with the very few pages there are. The books is a collection of nursery rhymes which were translated from nursery rhymes that he heard as a child into English so that his children could enjoy them.

somewhere between Edward Lear and Shel Silverstein; I would've been absolutely head over heels to find this book back in grade school when I had to memorize a poem every week. They are short, they are funny, they rhyme.

A very fun, quick, and ridiculous read! The illustrations were so adorable- it inspires me to make some art of my own! The poems were not complicated or very long but they did provide a completely joyous reading experience for me 🥰

Some are stronger than others, but it's all together an absurd delight.

I have never been quite a fan of nonsense poetry and in this case where you have the poor pea crying as she is being forced to marry a cherry it is quite pitiful.

This was definitely not a book that I had read as a child but a few years ago when I came across it as one normally trips over books. The poetry is full of nonsense to allow the poems to be able to rhyme for the majority of the part while a few of these poems have been found outside this book in collection of compiled poetry.

N.M. does a great job more so in being able to make up whole islands and places of imagination that fit into his rhyming schemes. It would be interesting to see a fan coming with a Bodecker world map although I would truly feel sorry for the numerous inhabitants who have to deal with each other.

All in all it was pretty decent and a good one for those who don't mind a bit foolishness to lighten up their reading.

Let's Marry, Said the Cherry consists of a series of short poems for children. I thought that the poems were humorous and easy to read for children in grades K-6. The poems in this book are exciting because there are images to go along with it which kept me interested as I read.
