That's right baby. I am big in my reading kids' science books moment right now. The other day I said do you know what, I extremely want and need to learn something about bats. And I remembered the power of the Public Library and in fact the search bar function online, in which I typed.... "bats." The power of technology... so I learned a lot about bats in this book! My one complaint was that it did not go more in depth where I had many more questions, but that's because this is, famously, a kids' book and that is the one flaw in my plan to learn science from little kids' books. But I'm giving this 5 stars because the pictures were excellent and I love BATS and I want to support the Animals After Dark series lol. I will be putting the raccoon one on hold next.
A good introduction book to beginner readers on bats. It has a glossary in the beginning that helps the reader understand some terms. It discusses the two main groups of bats and their history and origin. How the bat sleeps, feeds and lives is covered. It also states how we shouldn't fear bats and how they are helpful to humans.
This book is good when discussing nocturnal/diurnal animals, and has lots of good vocabulary to introduce to the children. The pictures are all photographs, so the children will get to see what a real bat looks like.
