Rate this book
After being harshly rejected by Elizabeth, Darcy Flees Rosings with a broken heart but attempts to right his wrongs in London. But before he can do this, he must first visit, and flirt with, Caroline Bingley in order to get the Gardiners’ address and confess his sins to Jane Bennet. Colonel Fitzwilliam stays at Rosings and falls in love with Anne de Bourgh who finally stands up to her mother and states she will not marry Darcy. Elizabeth stays in Kent, befriends Anne, and slowly becomes convinced that there was more to Darcy than she thought at first. In fact, the more she hears about Darcy from his two cousins, the more she starts to regret her decision not to marry him. But can she convince him of her changed opinion?

This Pride and Prejudice variation is full of both humor and angst and will take the reader through a range of emotions as the characters navigate their way through one misunderstanding after another.

Angst and misunderstandings

The author writes quite well, though a sharp-eyed editor would have caught typos that made me pause to reread a sentence here and there. The plot centered around three couples who had obstacles in the way of their HEAs. Our dear couple specialized in making assumptions - the book would have been much shorter if they had just spoken to each other honestly!

This is a post-Hunsford tale. Anne De Bourgh befriends Elizabeth and they travel to London together. There is a fever at the Gardiner household so they go live with Darcy instead. This seems a tad improper and extremely awkward and presumptuous, considering Darcy's failed proposal. But let's go with it. Jane and Bingley sort out their stuff and Anne De Bourgh has a couple of suitors to sort out as well. I enjoyed it although it is one of those books in which Our Dear Couple could solve their own problems much sooner if they just talked. Darcy and Elizabeth have very little faith in each other and take turns in falling into despair, despite certain encouragements.

Wish Lizzy would have had stronger backbone and that they narrowed down plot. Two many side conflicts.
Darcy leaves after Hunsford proposal and in London flirts with Caroline to get Gardiner's address. He reunites Jane and Bingley. Lizzy becomes friends with Anne, who asserts herself. This also makes Richard fall back in love with her as she is now more like her old self. He had blamed himself for her accident that led to her illness. Lady C's behavior is also a big change without much struggle. A lot of miscommunication between Lizzy and Darcy. Both think the other are being courted or are in love with another person. Basically go through the heartbreak two or three times.
