This is a most-valuable, all-inclusive book which covers all the issues related to the intricacies of fingering in playing the piano. Over the 300 years of piano history, some pianists/authors tended to only address the "standard" fingering of scales, arpeggios, chords, etc. I haven't seen any prior book that teaches pianists the underlying fundamentals, principles, possibilities, considerations (including hands’-health), and choices available to them for the fingering of any piano music.

Having read, and studied this book, I now have a set of guidelines for "do it yourself"-fingering. It has already saved me tons of time by guiding me into solving various fingering dilemmas.

This book is by no means a one-time read. It's a source I fall back to almost daily. I thus consider it indispensable as a "Reference Book" that, I wish, be taught and adhered to by piano teachers, students, and anyone aspiring to seriously play the piano!

To me, this is the best book ever written on the subject of Piano Fingering. It covers the "Standard" fingering of scales, arpeggios, chords, etc --- though only as a basis for a much-more advanced concepts and techniques. One special issue the book covers which isn't addressed anywhere else is Hands’-health. Not only that it's covered directly but it's also implicit indirectly via the proposed fingering of tens of specific examples.

The book follows the principle of "Teach a person to fish rather than give him a fish" in that it teaches how to come up with YOUR best Fingering rather than memorizing others' fingerings. It is a great guide for solving all kinds of fingering problems.

Once I had studied the book (over more than 2 years) it's been serving me for Reference in the same way I use a dictionary. This book would/should, and currently IS (to my knowledge) being taught by Tens (maybe Hundreds) of piano teachers, and I can only encourage more teachers and students to base their Piano studies on it.
