2.5…maybe. This is a tough one. The story alone would be great … in the hands of another writer. This has all the feel of an entertaining “Sunday movie” (so-called by me because my parents always watched the edited-for-TV Westerns on Sunday afternoons). The writing holds it back.
Good western but my least favorite book in the series so far. One thing I do not understand why the author seem to want to make a point of the brothers calling each other partners and other characters in the book calling them partners, not brothers. All the other books when someone asked for one of them they would say where is your brother, I have never heard them say partner. It just makes them seem not as close. But I did not care for the story itself, a 23-year-old self appointed “king“. I know all these books are out there but this one was a little too much. Had Mat Bodine saying is there possibly a spark with Lily even though it’s the same day that her husband was killed. One part I did like was that Indian history intimacy that Two Wolves shared with Clarissa.
Lots of fighting both with gun and fists. Snake creek nice fishing hole, but watch out for the water moccasins who swarm on land and water. Horrible bullies who've have taken possession of an entire town. Rustling cattle, murdering innocent ranchers and town folk. Raping women just acting disrespectful and that's that. The two brother's Sam Two Wolves and Matt Bodine who were just riding to no where in particular got involved with this one sided justice that was going on in Snake Creek. Lots of action every page full you will not lack or become bored reading this adventure. So enjoy all you western readers...
Great story and great action. Sam and Matt are Superman and Batman of the old ,West. This is an exciting and interesting read. I am looking forward to the next adventure of these blood brothers. Welp, off to Amazon to do some book shopping. So " Giddy Up. "
