Scoring Position is the typical one-time to get it out of our systems turned FWBs to lovers with a twist you won’t see coming. This book is filled with red hot hookups, an MMC with Joey Tribbiani energy, top tier banter, a cast of characters you’ll wish were your friends IRL.
Kat Summers is a millennial spicy contemporary romcom author living in Tennessee. Her books are filled with just enough angst to hurt your feelings, witty banter to make you laugh, and steamy, swoon-worthy men to make you blush. She creates stories with strong, sassy heroines who can hold their own but love being called a "good girl."
Kat has had a love for reading and writing her entire life. She grew up on The Royal Diaries Series (IYKYK) and rediscovered her love of the written word sitting on a beach on her honeymoon. After consuming what some would call way too many books, she decided to take the stories she told herself to fall asleep and put them on paper.
When she isn't writing, she can be found reading and spending time with her family and furbaby or out gossiping with the girls over margs and queso. Fueled by Diet Dr Pepper and a dream, Kat is excited to bring the couples that live in her mind to the rest of the world. Follow her for sneak peeks of future projects.
Scoring Position is the third book in the Nashville Songbirds series, following Kent and Raven. Kent is an MLB player with a playboy reputation and no interest in anything more than good time. Raven is an interior designer and a self-proclaimed relationship girl. These two run in the same group of friends but have not yet to be introduced. When they finally do meet the flirtation between them is undeniable. After months of run-ins, cheesy pick up lines, and a handful of nicknames these two end up together in Vegas in more ways than one. What could go wrong with giving in to their chemistry for one night?
All bets are off when one night leaves both of them still thinking about the night before! They both know they can’t offer the other more than no strings attached fun so they agree to a friends with benefits arrangement. Kent gets to focus on his season and Raven can give her full attention to launching her interior design business with the hopes of landing a TV pilot. Their arrangement works until it doesn’t, and they fall victim to the unfortunate miscommunication trope. Both catch feelings, of course, but what could go wrong when Kent gives up his old ways and Raven thinks she may be the exception? Just when you think these two have it all figured out a twist no one sees coming threatens to destroy it all.
The banter between Kent and Raven is perfection. The way they both could dish it out and take it from the other had me kicking my feet with laughter! When the spice hits midway through, it hits! Scoring Position gives off rom-com vibes in the best way!
Tropes: -just one night -friends with benefits -baseball romance -what happens in Vegas… -fiesty FMC x playboy MMC -failed one night stand

Book: Scoring Position (Nashville Songbirds book 3) Author: @katsummerswrites Stars:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️
Kent and Raven have been in the same circle of friends for a while now. The men of the Nashville Songbirds and their significant others are a tight knit crew! So it was only natural to become good friends with one another. But they could only keep it casual for so long. After a one night stand to “get it out of their systems”, it seems as though that itch was not at all scratched. In fact, one night doesn’t even begin to feel like enough.
This was actually kind of a reread for me as I had the pleasure of being part of Kats beta team for this book. And let me say, binge worthy times two!! Absolutely devoured it both times. And to be fair, probably will a third time! No shame🤭
Raven, our spicy and strong FMC has Kent wrapped around her finger from the start. No matter how much he denies it! She is an absolute firecracker and definitely doesn’t hold back on the sarcasm, but has the sweetest and most genuine affection for Kent. She needs to be real so we can be besties!! 👯♀️
And Kent!! Now, I am a Brady girl til I die but Kent had me thinking about switching teams for a while! This man is a freaking dream. He is sweet, he is sassy, he is an absolute animal in the sheets! The 5 minute challenge?? WOW! 🥵
Another amazing book in the Nashville Songbirds series!! I freaking love this little universe Kat is creating and all the people in it. I cannot get enough of this team and their lovely ladies! If you haven’t started yet, this is your sign!! 🪧 keep em coming Kat!🥰

I probably wouldn’t be as harsh with my rating if I haven’t just read the “Face off” by Chelsea Curto, which is basically the same idea trope-wise.
We got a friends with benefits within the same friend group (found family vibes) scenario, set in the world of the professional sports. There’s a sassy, confident girl and a reformed playboy who doesn’t do relationships and doesn’t have much experience with big feelings. The relationship is secret, until the guy is ready for more. Honestly, it’s basically the same plot premise at its core.
However, that’s where the similarities end, because those books couldn’t differ more, when it comes to the execution of the plot.
While I couldn’t put down the Curto’s book, I had a hard time plowing through that one, even though it’s much shorter.
First off all - “show me, don’t tell me” is once again my biggest issue with this series. We don’t get to be part of the story, unraveling it along the characters. Instead, we get a quick recap with every point being shoved down our throats, rather than discovered through the dialogue (which is scarce).
Second of all - the mmc is annoying and dense af. His character arc if awful and he just becomes less and less likable with every shit he pulls, only to be completely conceited and oblivious to the consequences of his actions, unless someone spells it out for him like they would for a literal child.
Third of all - if you want the readers to believe the characters are in love, not just lust, you should pull them out of bed occasionally and have them have a real conversation. Otherwise the plot becomes just a sorry excuse for the spice.
Suffice to say, third time was not a charm, I’m officially done with the series and the author altogether.
Rating: 3.5 stars Nicknames: Firefly (+20 other one timers)
This was a cute and quick read. I was a bit bleh about the first book and straight up did not like the second book so I wasn't sure if this very promiscuous man would come off like a caregiver or a douche but he was a bit of both. The FMC was decently chill about everything and they had a good communication streak till the end of course. What I loved is the timeline. There was no insta-love and they went some months not seeing each other or talking a lot so it made their attraction more believable which I enjoyed.
I will say that I think the 3rd act twist was a bit unnecessary. What's the point of adding that if it made no difference to their relationship and it was never mentioned previously.
I also didn't like the conflict with the other clingy women that tried to come in between because it didn't resolve anything or show growth. It was handled very well though.
I was surprised how open Kent was about starting a relationship with Raven though since I know that usually is the last step before the ending but it came at around 65%
The cameos of Robby and Carina were so cute. Miller and Lola were just whatever. Miller is great. Lola is bland of life. Tiffany is a hot mess.com and I know the next book is with her and George and it's going to be enemies to lovers life. hopefully that one is a good one !
I will say that there was character overload in this book. I didn't remember more than 2 people that were not the main characters because there was so many all over the place, sprouting like weeds. Perhaps they were all from another series.
Scoring Position is book three in the Nashville Songbirds series, this time following Kent and Raven. I did read the first two books (my review for book two is already up!) but the entire series can be read as stand-alone books.
Kent is a hotshot MLB star with a playboy reputation and no interest in settling down anytime soon. Raven is an interior designer trying to branch out on her own and is way too busy to consider a relationship right now. After months of flirting leads to a drunken hookup at their friends wedding, they decide to give being friends with benefits a shot.
After reading the first two books, I’ve been counting down the days until I could get the chance to read Scoring Position, and I’ve gotta say that this is my favourite book of the series so far!
I absolutely loved the sexual tension and banter between Kent and Raven, their chemistry is undeniable and they can’t seem to leave each other alone. Despite both of their protests that they don’t want anything more, they soon fall hard for each other. However, I was not expecting the plot twist! I’m kinda glad I was home alone when I got to it, because I swore at my iPad.. a lot!
I am a massive fan of their friendship group! I love seeing how caring and supportive they all are, in every book they come together to help in any way they can. The characters are always detailed and well written, and I really hope we get to see more of them!
Kat Summers has smashed it out of the park yet again with another fantastic story and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
*I received an advance reader copy for free (thank you Kat Summers), and I am leaving this review voluntarily.*
Tropes: ⚾️ reformed playboy baseball player x interior designer ⚾️ fwb turned lovers ⚾️ plethora of nicknames ⚾️ he loves to cook ⚾️ “one time to get it out of our system” ⚾️ off the charts chemistry and banter
I received an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. A huge thank you for this honor to read this early! 🫶🏻 These are 100% my true feelings and unbiased opinions on this book.
I have read quite a few sports romances, but this was my first baseball romance and I LOVED it! The chemistry was off the charts from the moment these two met! WOW Kat can write some chemistry 🤌🏻🤌🏻 the banter was great and hilarious! I loved Kent and all of his nicknames 😂 this kept me on my toes cause I had no idea what was coming out of his mouth next! He was so sweet and attentive and it I was to fun during his POVs to get a sneak peek into he head and watch the “playboy” persona slowly melt away. I also was SWOONING at him slowly building such a strong relationship with her grumpy cat lol!
Raven, was sweet, strong, funny and so talented. She stood up for what she wanted and for what she deserved! I loved watching her career grow and blossom here and I really liked her having someone at her side to cheer her on! She was so funny and her wit was quick enough to dish it right back to Kent when he was flirting with her. These two were such great match! I fell in love with the side characters here too. I need to read the rest of this series now because I loved them all so much! This was a first Kat Summers book for me and won’t be a last!!
After months of run-ins and back and forth banter, these two finally decide to give into temptation and just give it one night. But can they leave it at just one night?
Kent and Raven are both too busy with their careers to have a relationship. Kent is focused on the upcoming MLB season and Raven is filming a pilot for an HGTVesque channel. They decide they can't offer anything further than a no-strings friends with benefits situationship. What happens when their FWB situationship turns into catching feelings? This fun filled, delightful story is filled with witty banter, group texts, humor, good groveling, spice, and heart.
Kent (MMC): playboy, MLB player who knows how to catch a ball but not catch feelings, looking for a good time, not a long time, dirty talker, enjoys cooking, treasures his found family
Raven (FMC): creative, fiesty, interior designer, independent and stubborn, has a soft spot for her friends
Truthfully, I usually struggle with friends with benefits reads but Kat did a wonderful job unfolding the friendship and relationship between the MCs. Kent is so gooey, he tries so hard for Raven and you see him change so much through the story. Raven was just what Kent needed and she needed him to help her see that it is ok to not do everything yourself. While you don't need to read the first two books in the series, I highly recommend you do because you get little glimpses at Raven and Kent and their crash course trajectory of the relationship.
I cannot wait to meet the rest of the Nashville Songbirds' players and the growing friend group.
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
Definitely liked this less than I thought. I feel like other than the smut and the flirting at the beginning the rest was lackluster.
Like yes I get that FWB would generate feelings but actually show that instead of just bam I love her. Bc they literally have a couple back and forths and then like very minor scenes of actual talking/bonding. Otherwise the story goes straight from well let’s be fwb, to text threads of “busy?”, to I’m head over heels, then the 3rd act
I will say as much as I hated the progression. I did like the third act break up. I feel like it was really well done as soon as they went to Vegas I was wondering why the author didn’t take the opportunity to do the accidental marriage?? and it turns out she was saving an accidental marriage and forgotten marriage for you!! so I actually really like that. I feel like everyone’s reaction were really good too. I did like the making up as well.
Also the “didn’t have xxx on my bingo card” has got to be the worst trend that authors stuck into literally every new book. I feel like I let a lot of “cringe” stuff go in books, but this has got to stop. And no hate to this specific author, this is just the last straw for me haha
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 Spicy: 3.5 out of 5 Burn Rate: 4 out of 4 We love a playboy who falls for a girl and becomes a swoony boyfriend, but Kent is next level. Kent is a baseball player known for his playboy way, but he is drawn to her once he meets Raven at a holiday party. Raven is an interior designer who is trying to start her own business. The two enter a friends-with-benefits situation until Raven has a date with another man. Enter some of the most swoony boyfriend behavior. Kent takes his new role seriously, and you cannot help but fall in love with him. There is an unexpected twist that keeps you on your toes, and I thought it added complexity to the story. I loved the spicy in the book; even though Kent and Raven start as FWB, the spicy is a good mix of dirty and sweet. I also like that this book's burn rate is high, with the spicy kick-in at 25%. The banter in the book is top-notch. It is witty and will keep you laughing. This is the third book in the Nashville Songbird series. The other two are delightful; you can check them out here.
If you want a couple that defines the “we just have to get it out of our systems” trope, Raven and Kent are your couple. Raven is our FMC and when I tell you that you will love her, I am not lying. She is so spunky, sarcastic and at the same time a kind person. I also loved her for having Kent wrapped around her finger right from the start. She was interested in having a real conversation with Kent and that made her stand out from everyone. I really want Raven to be real because I would love to be friends with her. Now, Kent wasn’t interested in being friends with Raven. That man was sweet as a cinnamon roll but a FREAK in the sheets. He proposed a 5 minute challenge that made me SO FERAL. Nothing is enough for those two and they develop an amazing bond. They worked on their open communication and it worked out perfectly for them.
* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I think this was one of my favorites of the series! Raven is hardworking, Kent is a baseball strength with major playboy tendencies. Kent is a smooth talker and plays to win in all situations, but Raven was no match for his ways! Raven handled her own like a champ! After being let go from her job for what I felt like was intimidation from her boss, she made a name for herself in such a big way. Mr. Playboy himself thought he would never settle down but Raven just did something to him. I loved the spice, the banter, the fun, the supportive friend groups on both sides. After not knowing what happened one night in Vegas, I didn't know where we may end up! I hated Kent's blow up, but ultimately glad he saw his mistake. Who knew the playboy would want marriage and even have baby fever! The bonus scene had him itching to fulfill his baby fever! I hope there is another book for the series because I NEED to know what the deal is with Tiffany and Georgie!
I’ve really enjoyed the Nashville Songbirds series and this might be my favorite so far!
Kent and Raven have a flirtationship when at events for mutual friends. Kent doesn’t do relationships and Raven doesn’t do hookups. However, after a few nights in Vegas for their friends’ wedding, they decide to be friends with benefits! Of course feelings get caught on both sides and their FWB arrangement becomes more! There is a twist no one is expecting that puts a wrench in their new relationship.
Kent definitely had to grovel and it was warranted! Raven is a strong FMC and I enjoyed the nicknames that Kent came up with. If you love to see a player get tamed, then pick this one up!
I have loved this series so much but I think this one might be my new favorite! Kent and Raven were fantastic together and I loved watching them go their relationship grow from casual to serious. They definitely hit some bumps but they always found their way back and I felt like the situations that they went through were handled well. Kent was just the sweetest and seeing him try so hard for Raven was amazing. He changed so much throughout this book which I loved, Raven was exactly what he needed!
🤍 Reformed Playboy 🤍 Friends With Benefits to Lovers 🤍 Baseball Romance
This was such a great story with some plot twists that i never saw coming and the ending was so sweet! Cant wait for more!
This is the first book I’ve read in the Nashville Songbirds series and it makes me want to go back and read the first two now! In this book Raven and Kent were fun to see them constantly bantering with each other and then fall into friends with benefits (but they were both in a little deeper than that whether they could admit it or not). Overall I loved both of the individual character’s arcs and their arc as a couple. Great read for anyone who likes baseball romances and friends with benefits turned lovers.
The series isn’t the greatest to start with and I was just reading as a lunchtime book.
But this one had me cringing the whole time.
The MMC is ick and after a year almost shows zero growth if anything he becomes more unlikable.
Also the weird little group where they all love each other and talk about everything while being coupled up and buying houses next to each other is giving sister wives
Such a fun read! Loved Raven and Kent's story. Their banter was so good and funny. They were just so cute together. Overall a good read. This is the third book and can be read as a standalone.
This was such an adorable book! Though I have never read a book with the friends with benefits trope, I was truly impressed with the way Kat Summers showed the friendship timeline of Kent and Raven. They are both two independent people who are set in their own ways, but when they work together, they are a dynamic duo. I loved how they both treasure their friendships and the best part was getting to learn more about the couples of the first two books in the series. I loved this book with all of the twists and turns each page brought and absolutely loved reading Kent and Ravens story.
was the plot twist that this guy was an asshole?? and that he didn’t change being an asshole??? how does a book span a whole year and he shows no growth????
Such a fun read. Raven was a great character and Kent felt real. The end was kinda rushed and while incredibly sweet, the grovel did not fit the crime. Also, did he buy her a new ring??
Scoring Position: 4.5⭐️ 3🌶️ Do you need a book with terrible pickup lines, a fantastic group of friends, and MCs that have impeccable chemistry? Well, I have the book for you. Scoring Position is the third book in the Nashville Songbirds series and focuses on Raven and Kent, both of which we meet in the first two books since they’re in the same friend group. I absolutely love a reformed playboy and a one night stand turned way way more. With each book of Kat’s, I love seeing previous main characters through the eyes of the new main characters and the development of each relationship. The close friendships and girl friends are such a great part of this series and solidify the found family trope within each book. With bad pickup lines, witty banter, and tropes like these, you are missing out if you haven’t read this series yet - especially with baseball season starting!

📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
First of all, I had the biggest honor of getting to beta read.
This book is SO good, like.. SO good. It isn't better than Kat's other two, but there is something about it that just wow. It reads differently and packs an emotional punch. Kat is so talented and the writing of this story will have you laughing, blushing, and just overall feeling emotional. The spice, was SPICY. This book also made me cry? Multiple times too!
Kent and Raven's story is one that details what its like to navigate strong feelings, relationships, and friendship. With Kent being a playboy, Raven shakes up his life in the best way but it's also Kent who helps Raven realize she doesn't have to do everything on her own. It is such a good story with some amazing plot twists.
Thank you again Kat for the opportunity to beta read!!!!
