There's something in here for everyone. This book is fun but also educational and HUGE! It would be an asset to any elementary classroom or home library. Kids will learn about mythological creatures from around the world and also about different kinds of poems. There's a section at the end where the creatures that may be scary are grouped together. Overall, the poems are kid-friendly and showcase creatures from around the world.

There are big-name poets and illustrators in here: Jane Yolen, Josh Funk, Peter Reynolds, Rajani LaRocca, and more. The full-color art brings together the wide range of styles coupling them with amazing poems. This 86-page book features dozens of writers and illustrators. The back matter has info on 13 poems types.

Kids will also love looking for the hidden gnome on every two-page spread!

I just finished this anthology. I'm proud to have the poem, "Mischievous Mazzikin" on page 57. There are so many wonderful authors who a part of the anthology: both gnome and ungnome (couldn't resist). I want to list my favorites, but it would be too many, and I don't want to leave any out. The illustrators, such as Robert Thiebeault who illustrated my poem make the poems come alive. I've put one in my classroom and have given a few as gifts. The hardcover's glossy pages make the book even more special. There are a few hidden surprises throughout. Highly recommended!
