De Bellis Crime Family #3

A Sinner's Virtue

Rate this book
Marcello

Being judged isn’t something foreign to me. I’m used to the whispers, the stares, the way people scatter or cross the road when they see me walking their way.

It comes with the territory when your last name is De Bellis.

But being judged by her before she gives me a chance to prove her wrong? Yeah, I’m not going to stand for that.

Zoe thinks she knows who I am, assumes I’m nothing more than a street thug with no morals or ethics.

Letting her walk out of my life isn’t an option. I’ll show her just how virtuous this sinner can be.

Zoe

Moving to Melbourne from New York is the fresh start I craved while having connections here from back home is a welcomed comfort.

When your self-appointed adoptive father is the Pakhan of the Bratva and his wife belongs to one of the five Italian families of New York, you end up bubble-wrapped in one big invisible layer of protectiveness.

I’m safe here. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can pop that bubble. Especially if I don’t want it to.

That’s why, when a six-foot-three hulk of a man takes my breath away and leaves me aching for more of what he delivered in one night, I embrace the shelter my connections afford me.

The last thing I need is to get mixed up with someone who belongs in the criminal underworld. I’ve experienced firsthand how that turns out for girls like me. As much as I want it to be, my last name isn’t Petrov or Valentino. I don’t end up with the dark prince in my own version of a fairy tale.

It doesn’t matter how relentlessly Marcello persists, I will not cave. I will not give in to my bodies desires to have him just one more time…

Yup, not doing this. Just because the doofus stayed while she was having a panic attack doesn't mean she has to forget how he kicked her out like a jerk after their ONS.

He was a grade-A a-hole the last time they were together, and now, not even half an hour after he barged into her house, she was jumping his bones because he helped her calm down?! 🥴

Like, girl, where's the self-respect and common sense??? You don't throw yourself so easily at someone who has no problem kicking you out and treating you like crap after he had his fun with you. Whose sane person, real or fictional, would do that?! Oh, right, stupid me, Zoe apparently. 🙄 It just doesn't make any sense, mmmkay?? Ever heard the words self-preservation and dignity? 🥴 Because obviously these are missing in her vocabulary and personality.

So yeah, I'm not doing this. I can't stand FMCs who won't demand the respect they deserve. I just can't root for someone like this. I want someone who has a freaking backbone and is not being led by her hormones. 🤷‍♀️

::Sigh:: not my favorite, and a near DNF 😱

This author is a guilty pleasure read of mine, going way back to the Merged Series. Continuing on through the Valentinos and the with the next generation, and here we are with the De Bellis family. I love to reread and spend time with the OG’s and see what these next Gen are getting into. If you haven’t read the other series, you are fine. The characters cross over, but you’ll be ok. She overlaps her timelines in each book within a series, which can be frustrating at times. I definitely recommend reading each series in order as a result because even though they typically overlap, since you are getting a different viewpoint many details are not explained in detail or are just mentioned in passing. It’s assumed you’ve read the other viewpoint. Having them completely retold would be obnoxious, but sometimes things seem like they’re missing if you haven’t read the previous book.

This was the first time I remember being really annoyed by the overlap in timelines because the ending of the previous book was so much further ahead in time, so it was like starting over to go back in time. We skipped back more than a year in time, which I believe is the biggest time jump so far. It was way too much , especially since this book ends at the same place in time as the previous book.

A drawback of starting over in the timeline means we went back and had to relive Santos’ storyline with Shelli yet again. At the end of the previous book, we finally found out what really happened with his fiancé. So now it’s the third book, and we are back to where we started in the first book. 🤦🏻‍♀️ TBH it makes me not want to read his story because I don’t want to relive this same timeline yet again.

Moving on…

There was a rough start for me. I actually almost DNF’d early on. One thing I love about this author’s men is that they almost always fall head over heels for their women and become OTT possessive alpha-holes, with a cinnamon roll soft spot for their lady. They may sometimes be assholes to everyone else, but they’re don’t treat their women poorly. So when Marcel and Zoe hook up and she gets woken up to:

“Get up. You gotta go…Your time here has expired. I got shit to do, and you’re not it. Sorry, sweetheart, but you have to leave.”

I was disappointed. Then I was hopeful he’d have to chase her, but nope. He barges his way into her home unannounced, grabs her and pushes himself into her, triggering a panic attack, and then her reaction is to swoon and rut all over him when he lets go saying ”I’m not that guy.” Because years of trauma as a result of being trafficked and panic attack are suddenly cleared by just looking at his face 🙄. No grovel needed. 🙄🙄

I saw some reviews that also quit at that point. I’m ultimately glad I didn’t. He did turn into the expected OTT “you’re mine” guy, but I think it was just off, or too little too late. I don’t know. It didn’t hit the same for me as the others. YMMV, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I still love this author, this crazy world, and will follow this series and all the spin offs indefinitely. This just wasn’t my fave.

A Sinner's Virtue by Kylie Kent is a thrilling and passionate romance that delves deep into the world of organized crime, complex identities, and the undeniable pull of forbidden love. The story centers around Marcello De Bellis and Zoe Petrov, two characters from vastly different worlds who find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other despite the danger and complications that surround them.

Marcello De Bellis is no stranger to judgment. As a member of a notorious crime family, he's used to the whispers, the stares, and the way people avoid him out of fear. But what stings is Zoe’s quick judgment of him, assuming he’s just another thug without taking the time to see who he really is. Determined to prove her wrong, Marcello sets out to show Zoe that there’s more to him than meets the eye—that beneath his hardened exterior lies a man capable of love and virtue.

Zoe, on the other hand, is new to Melbourne, having moved from New York to escape her past and start fresh. But with connections to powerful criminal families through her adoptive father, she isn’t as free as she’d like to believe. Her life is wrapped in an invisible layer of protection, one she’s reluctant to step out of, especially when it comes to getting involved with someone from the criminal underworld. Marcello is everything she should avoid, but after one intense night together, she finds it impossible to ignore the desire he awakens in her.

Kylie Kent masterfully weaves a story that’s as much about the push and pull of love as it is about the characters’ internal struggles. Marcello is a fascinating character—a man torn between the life he was born into and the desire to be seen as more than just his last name. Zoe’s conflict is equally compelling; she’s caught between the safety of her protective bubble and the allure of the dangerous world Marcello represents.

The chemistry between Marcello and Zoe is electric, and their interactions are charged with tension and emotion. Kylie Kent doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker sides of their relationship, making their eventual connection all the more satisfying. The stakes are high, with the ever-present threat of violence and betrayal looming over them, adding an extra layer of suspense to the romance.

The novel’s setting in the criminal underworld of Melbourne is richly detailed, bringing to life the dangers and complexities of Marcello’s world. Kylie Kent does an excellent job of balancing the romance with the suspense, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they wonder whether Marcello and Zoe can overcome the obstacles in their path.

In conclusion, A Sinner's Virtue is a gripping and intense romance that will appeal to fans of dark, passionate love stories. Kylie Kent delivers a story full of heat, heart, and high stakes, making it a must-read for anyone who enjoys tales of love that defy the odds. Marcello and Zoe’s journey is one of redemption, acceptance, and the realization that sometimes, the most virtuous acts come from the most unexpected places.

I love my mafia romances with fast pace / high heat, wild chemistry, a badass heroine, a hero who worships her (even when he doesn’t realize it), and a plot that keeps me on edge, It’s messy, it’s emotional, and it’s so worth the ride.

Marcello is a mafia heir (the third brother of de De Bellis) who believes his family is cursed. Zoe is a survivor with a past so dark she refuses to let anyone get too close, only Mikhaik and Izzy who rescued her and adopted her, are closed to her. Neither of them wants love, but love isn’t giving them a choice.

This story is narrated in dual by Dorje Swallow and Bridie Lawrence.
My only disappointment is that I struggled a bit the voice of the MMC on the spicy part.

I really can’t wait for Santo’s story. He and Zoe share something special and I was gone for it.

“I don’t think Disney could dream up a better Prince Charming than you.“

3⭐️I liked this book, but it felt noticeably flatter than the others in the series. As a third parallel-timeline instalment, a lot of the ground was already familiar, and Marcelo’s perspective didn’t add as much new depth to the overall story as I’d hoped.

The pacing was the biggest issue for me — most of the real action and momentum landed in the final 20%, which made the earlier sections feel a bit plateaued. That said, I did enjoy their connection and the way the characters supported each other through shared mental-health struggles; that element was handled with care and authenticity.

Overall, a solid read, just not one of the standout books in the series for me.

Since the prologue in A Sinner’s Promise, I wanted to see where Marcel and Zoe’s story was going to go. It seemed their one-night stand was just that but there was more to it than that.

Kylie delivered a fantastic story for these two and we got to see some favourite characters pop back up too. Zoe’s family is a great addition and I’m not going to spoil who that is if you don’t know where Zoe is from. Then there is Marcel’s best friend and Zoe’s best friend/co-worker.

I love how this series mixes and weaves together and we’re always getting to revisit with characters we love.

Like the first two books this runs across the same timeline so we relive some important moments that we may have already read but get to see them from another perspective. I had hoped to get a little more on the Shelli’s secrets and a few little breadcrumbs were dropped just making me want more.

Now, Marcel and Zoe were super hot together, and not only that but for each other they offered support and built each other up. Marcel didn’t really need that because he has a De Bellis ego to rival the others, but Zoe showed him what loving and caring for someone who isn’t his family and expected is like. Zoe’s past was traumatic and she went through hell and came out the other side thanks to her family, but the past still haunts her and affects her life. Marcel’s unconditional love is something she never expected and both scares and helps to heal her.

I’m loving the De Bellis brothers and the women who bring them to their knees. They fall hard and fast and once they’ve found her there is not letting her go.

With only Vin and Santo to go I can’t wait. To meet their women and find out all the secrets still hiding in this series.
.
.
.
Marcel has had a bad feeling all day. It’s supposed to be the night before Santo and Shelli’s wedding but he’s convinced the De Bellis curse is going to ruin the day. Sitting around the strip club with his brothers isn’t distracting him and he doesn’t want to bring Santo down, so he heads out without them
‘I’m convinced somewhere along the way, the old man made a deal with a witch and now our bloodline is cursed for eternity. I don’t see any of us getting a happily ever after.’

Zoe is trying to step out of her comfort zone. Since she broke up with her boyfriend she’s sure that she is too broken to ever find love, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want the physical side of what a relationship gives. Despite being terrified she convinces herself to go out and see if she can go through with it. But before she can pick out a bar that looks friendly the Melbourne weather forces her into the closest one.
“First, you didn’t save me. I could have saved myself.” I sit up straighter. One of the many things I learned from Izzy was to never let a man think you need him. Another? Don’t rely on being saved. Help yourself. Fight for yourself with everything you have.’

From the moment she walked into the bar Marcel couldn’t take his eyes off her. She looks out of place and when another man has her looking uncomfortable he steps in. Surprisingly, he enjoys just sitting and talking to her and isn’t in a rush to get her back to bed. When she makes the first move though nothing will stop him from taking what she is offering.
‘I can’t get the chick out of my damn head. Doesn’t matter what I’m doing lately. Attending funerals, dealing with the shitshow that is life at the moment. All I want is to drown myself in her.’

One night with Marcel was better than she could have hoped for. Sex has never been like that for her before and she did what she didn’t think she would be able to do. He’s not the same man the next morning though and she’s happy enough to walk away from the jerk, if only she’d gotten away without someone who knows her spotting her.
“You are an asshole.” “I deserve that.” He smiles. “You’re right. I’m usually an asshole with brief moments of good behaviour between.”

It has to be the curse. Santo is shattered and Shelli is gone and Marcel and his brothers will have to pick up the pieces. Dealing with the aftermath of the wedding day and Gio taking over the family isn’t enough for him to forget about Zoe though. He didn’t need Dom to tell him who she was with just a name and Dom’s connection he put the pieces together and tracked her down. He knows he should stay away with the curse looming over their heads but he can’t.
‘You know that whole saying about letting people go and if they come back, they’re yours? If they don’t, then they never were? Yeah, I call bullshit on that. I’ve let Zoe go, but every fibre of my being still says that girl is mine.’

Zoe doesn’t know why Marcel is still hanging around, and she’s sure that when he sees her have an episode he’ll run for the hills like everyone else. But Marcel surprises her and makes her feel safe and protected. Wanting to be with Marcel is both exhilarating and scary but her past isn’t the only thing that could jeopardize whatever they are building.
‘I’m not that girl. The one who needs people. I like being alone. I love it actually. When I’m alone, I can just be me. There’s no pretending. No feigned bravery required. It’s just me. As I am.’

She might be scared but he’s already decided he is keeping her and whatever it takes to make her feel secure and keep her safe he’ll do because there is no one else for him.
“No, you don’t get it. There is no ending to this, Zoe. You and me, we’re not fucking breakable. You got hurt. I’m sorry for that, but you are not the only person in this relationship. I’m right here too, and I get a choice. My choice is you, always you.”

Happy Reading.

Another great read from the series. While I absolutely loved Marcel, his story wasn’t my favorite. I enjoyed him and Zoe, and thought they had great chemistry and I loved how patient he was with her. The family dynamic between these brothers is truly something. Vin is just the absolute best and I’m excited for his story next. He’s always the calming brother and the friend all these ladies need! Watching him get Zoe stoned and seeing her that way had me laughing. I’ve been a huge Vin fan since book 2, but it was seeing him with Daisy and how he helped her that had me truly loving him.
Even though this book was considerably shorter than the first two, it was still really good and delivered the action, more about Santo and what he knows was revealed (which I really enjoyed getting more of a glimpse of him), and it had some excellent spicy moments! Onto book 4!

This is book 3 in Kylie Kent's amazing interconnected series. I love these brothers SO MUCH and was so excited to be sent this ARC. This story takes place at the same time/after the previous two books. I've been so excited for this story since I read his blurb in the first book. I was absolutely not disappointed.

Marcel
Marcel is one of the younger brothers of the De Bellis family. He doesn't care too much about anything honestly and is really picky with his women. He is absolutely loyal and not afraid to go after what he wants. He is so patient and understanding. I wanted to cry at moments just appreciating him. He will do anything for those he loves. Even work with the Russians.

Zoe
We got to know her slightly in another one of Kylie's series. She thinks she is incapable of a real relationship and just wants to be able to just hook up with men. She realizes that's just not who she is and all because one jerkface said she was too much to deal with now she thinks that's how everyone will feel. She ran away from New York to Melbourne to get away from her demons. She was basically adopted by the Petrovs who love and support her like she is their own child. I loved seeing the two of them again in this story. She just wants to be free from her past and not have enough baggage to fill an Amazon warehouse.

We love a man who goes at our speed and makes sure we are 100% OK with continuing. He had his jerkface moments but nothing he couldn't recover from. He was honestly perfect for her in so many ways. He understood when to back up and give her space and when she needed him to ground her. I fell so in love with him when he backed up with his hands up and waited for her.

Marcel truly believes they are cursed. He feared her getting hurt and the ribbon part absolutely made my heart explode and ache for Marcel.

Santo was honestly the one to shock me in this story and I can't wait for his story. But I absolutely need Vin's soon. The last two brothers are going to shatter my heart. I just know it.

I seriously love Izzy. I'll have to read her stories again soon. She was such a Bad A in this story and at the same time such a loving mom.

I cannot put into words just how absolutely perfect and reassuring this story was. I really need a Marcello in my life. I'll take any of the brothers 😍

I do really reccomend reading the books in order (they are all sooooo good) but honestly they can be read on their own without any issues.

Kylie Kent’s A Sinner's Virtue is a captivating blend of danger, passion, and power, perfectly encapsulating the intensity of the De Bellis Crime Family. This third installment delivers a thrilling journey with Marcello and Zoe, and if you’ve just finished books 1 and 2, like I did, you’re in for an extra treat! 😍

Marcello De Bellis is no stranger to being judged—his last name alone is enough to make people scatter. But when Zoe, a woman new to Melbourne with ties to New York's Russian crime family, looks at him like he’s nothing more than a street thug, Marcello is determined to prove her wrong. He’s not just some dangerous man; he’s someone who knows what he wants, and he’s not about to let Zoe walk out of his life without a fight. 🔥

Zoe is used to being protected, having been bubble-wrapped by her connections to the Bratva and one of New York’s Italian families. But when Marcello, a six-foot-three hulk of a man, takes her breath away, she knows she’s in trouble. One night with him leaves her craving more, but she’s all too aware of the dangers of getting involved with someone from the criminal underworld. She’s lived that life and doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes. But resisting Marcello? That’s easier said than done. 😈

One of the best aspects of A Sinner's Virtue is how it seamlessly overlaps with the events of the first two books. The timeline runs in parallel, making it a perfect continuation if you’ve just finished books 1 and 2. Plus Santo/Shelly's & Vincent's series arcing storyline. I was super engaged as the familiar events unfolded from Marcello and Zoe’s perspective, adding depth and richness to the overall narrative.

Marcello’s dangerous charm and Zoe’s fierce independence create an electrifying dynamic, making every interaction between them a thrill to read. And let’s not forget the suspense—there’s a palpable sense of danger lurking around every corner, keeping you on the edge of your seat. 👏

How long until book 4 ??? Who is next ? Cant wait for Santo and Vince ... who you continue to learn more about their damage ....

A Sinner's Virtue: Where a One-Night Stand Becomes an Irresistible Obsession
From the tantalizing prologue in A Sinner's Promise, the air crackled with the unspoken connection between the enigmatic Marcel De Bellis and the intriguing Zoe. Kylie Kent delivers a scorching and emotionally resonant third installment in the De Bellis Crime Family series, proving that even a seemingly casual encounter can ignite a love that defies expectations and dangerous family legacies.
Marcel, a De Bellis with an ego to match his brothers, finds himself utterly captivated by Zoe after their unexpected night together. Zoe, scarred by a traumatic past and seeking solace in a new city, believes herself incapable of a real relationship. Yet, Marcel sees beyond her defenses, offering unwavering support and a love that both terrifies and heals her. Their chemistry is explosive, their connection a powerful blend of raw desire and surprising tenderness. Watching Marcel, a man who swore off commitment due to his family's "curse," fall hard and fast for Zoe is utterly captivating.
Kent masterfully weaves this intense romance into the existing timeline of the series, offering familiar events through the fresh perspectives of Marcel and Zoe. This adds a rich layer of depth to the overarching narrative while allowing A Sinner's Virtue to stand strong on its own. The inclusion of beloved characters and intriguing breadcrumbs about lingering secrets will keep series fans utterly enthralled.
More than just a steamy romance, this is a story about overcoming past trauma, finding strength in vulnerability, and the unexpected bonds that can form in the darkest of worlds. Marcel's fierce protectiveness and Zoe's journey towards trusting love create a compelling dynamic that will have you rooting for their hard-won happiness. Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions, scorching passion, and the undeniable allure of a De Bellis brother brought to his knees by the woman who steals his heart.
I am excited to read Vin and Santo book! As Santo really did surprise me in this book and honestly seeing him more in this story was truly a treat and makes me excited to read his story!.

Are you ready to meet another De Bellis brother?

Marcello De Bellis won’t ever fall in love because he knows his family is cursed, women don’t fare well with the De Bellis family. The only problem with that, you can’t help falling in love! When his one night stand won’t get out of his head, he does everything to figure out who she is.

The story follows the same timeline as the previous two books, starting the night of Santo’s Stag and continuing through the events of ‘A sinner’s promise’ and ‘A sinner’s lies’. But can be read as a standalone!

I loved the witty banter between Marcel and Zoe in the beginning. Zoe was just looking to get past her traumas and have a night of fun but Marcel’s no quitter. When he decides he wants Zoe he goes all out.

Zoe is a bit flighty, she struggles with her emotions and feelings for Marcel, she’s in too deep and scared. Her friendship with Santo is an unexpected one (if you’ve read the other books, you’ll know Santo is a bit of a grouch and going through his own grief) but as Santo says “𝙱𝚛𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚗 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠𝚜 𝚋𝚛𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚗" and they form a connection over their pain.

Marcel is sweet and attentive to Zoe during her panic attacks and even though he wants answers he doesn’t push her, he waits for her to be comfortable to tell him her past. But that doesn’t mean he’s sweet in all aspects…. The spicy scenes are 🔥 and the man has a filthy mouth.

It wouldn’t be a mafia romance without some shootings, a kidnapping and someone ending up in the hospital! The sub plot will keep you reading trying to figure out who the baddies are after and why!

We also get some guest appearances from our favourite Russian- Mikhaïl- and his scary wife, Izzy Valentino-Petrov. As well as Lucy and her unhinged fiancé Dom.

Another amazing addition to the KK universe. Bring on Vin and Santo’s stories 🤍

Marcel and Zoe

I felt like this was a little bit of a “fill in the blanks” book. The first half was kind of a review of the De Bellis’ life over the course of the first two books. The second half I thought was more focused on Zoe and Marcel. Their relationship was so much more than Marcel had led his brothers to believe in the first two books. It was probably the least insta love romance between the three brothers, and there was a lot more back and forth in the beginning.

I really liked the merging of the De Bellis family and the Petrov/Valentino family. It was a story I didn’t realize I needed. I loved getting to see Zoe’s growth. She was such a strong character who had been through so much and to see her realize she was worthy of love and a future was beautifully.

Marcel was the perfect match for Zoe. What started as a one night stand turned into an obsession. Once Marcel decided he wanted more with Zoe he was all in and determined to show her what they could have together.

Because this was a mafia romance, there was a lot of suspense and action outside Marcel and Zoe’s relationship. It was a fight to not only stay alive but figure out who was being targeted and why.

Overall this was a good read. I liked the plot. I’m a little afraid of Vin and Santos’ stories, they seem to be the most broken De Bellis’ but I also cannot wait to see what happens next.

A Sinners Virtue by Kylie Kent is the 3rd book in the De Bellis Crime Family Series. It follows the story of Marcello and Zoe. Neither of them are looking for anything serious, however, after their first encounter together, they somehow keep gravitating towards each other. Marcel is a possessive and determined alpha male. He has always been super selective about his woman as most cant keep his attention for long and because of his family business, he refuses to become involved with anyone. Zoe is a brave but anxious person who has been through her fair share of struggles but has been able to come on top with the support of her selected family. Once Marcel enters Zoe’s life, all bets and previous beliefs are off. Their chemistry is off the charts and is full of passion, trust and understanding. This dark mafia romance deals with trigger warnings so be sure to read that page before beginning the book. Kyle Kent does an amazing job of bringing these two people together in their respective journeys through their character development. Their connection is perfect and shows just how far people will go to prove themselves to the one they love. Their story is a page turner as it was hard to put down and read it in a day. This story is a must read.

Story is so beautiful!

Zoe who is Izzy and Marhail's daughter has issues that she is trying to work through but nothing is working so she convinces her parents to let her move half way around the world, they do but with a army of men to watch out over her.She decides to hit up a bar to she if she can make it OK and of course a drunken guy makes a hit on her but Marcello saves her, they hit it off OK and everything seems to being OK and Zoe seems to be comfortable around him,Marcello who swears off women until Zoe seems to be taken with him but things happen in his family that he needs to take care of but he still makes time to with Zoe but one times they are together she suddenly acts strange and blacks out, this happens a few more times and she always apologizes but he says it's nothing she has done and after a time she tells him why it happens! This story has alot more action, guns and kidnapping and running away and making up and running away again until Marcello can get her to understand that he is there to protect her,to love her and not hurt her! Just Beautiful!

Gotta be honest, I expected more from Marcel and Zoe. Their story also runs parallel to all the other brothers story lines and it distracted me because I was trying to think back to any easter eggs I may have missed in the previous books. Obviously some easter eggs were blatant so I was ok with those in the past books. I wanted more about Zoe's past. She doesn't fully open up to Marcel about her past. It comes on once and she leaves out a big chunk of what happened. As a reader, I just wanted more from that. I also was disappointed that none of the Valentino's made any kind of cameo. I especially wanted something from Neo while Izzy and Zoe were MIA. That being said, Izzy is just as kick ass as she was in her own books. Loved Izzy and Mikail in parental mode.

Now to Marcel and Zoe. Their chemistry was good, the spice even better. He was so patient and understanding with her. He helped her so much in overcoming her demons. I loved how Zoe bonded with Vin and Santo in her own way. Vin getting her high was absolutely hilarious and had me craving chocolate cake in the middle of the night while I read!

This book was heavy, with a lot of triggers and serious topics that not everyone will be able to read. But I liked it.

I didn't think I would like the whole series, but so far, it's going very well. This book focused a lot on the bond between the brothers, which I'm incredibly happy about. I love each of them and am just happy that they protect and care for each other so much. I'm glad that Santo is slowly coming to his senses, and his growing closeness with Zoe will clearly be good for him, and for her too, I think. They have both been through terrible things in their lives, and finding a safe place in each other is priceless.

I was very impressed by Izzy, an incredibly strong woman, and I would love to see her story. The addition at the end was a very good decision.

Zoe and Marcel's relationship was probably exactly how I would have imagined it. He behaved perfectly towards her, which I liked. It would have been very easy to make a mistake here, but thankfully he didn't. The representation of trauma and recovery is very well done in my opinion, so this book definitely deserves five stars.

Arc Review

It's been a while since i read a really good mafia story. So many things to write but they will be considered spoilers..so..This is the 3rd book in the De Bellis Crime Family and it runs parallel with the events from book 1 and 2 and literally i was captivated by the first page. kylie's writing is amazing, well pictured scenes, well founded emotion display. Helps the reader to enter the character's personality and experience their lives. I knew i would love Marcello & Zoe. So many favourite lines 😊😊😊 Both have their own demons to fight and overcome. Their love although quite instant was built throughout the book. Zoe has a really fucked up life since Izzy and Mikhail take her under their wings and it really comes up during her time with Marcel. Although this doesn't stop him from going after her again, again and again until she realises they are made of each other. Overall Marcello’s dangerous charm and Zoe’s fierce independence create an electrifying dynamic, making every interaction between them a thrill to read. And let’s not forget the suspense—there’s a palpable sense of danger lurking around every corner, keeping you on the edge. Plus the sex scenes where simply chef's kiss!!! Loved the hea!! If you like mafia romance then this is the book for you!!!!

3.5

The story wasn’t bad and it definitely will help build to Vin and Santos books but I am a little disappointed that this one was so much shorter than Gio and Gabe’s books.

I feel like Zoe and Vin could have really connected and we could have learned more about what happened to him before diving into his book where he has to process the trauma and find love. Having Zoe help him during her book and in turn help herself would have been a great set up for the next one.

I like that she connected with Santo but Vin love interest could have been that person for him. She could have lost a sibling or something and that could have set the scene for Santo to process and realize that maybe Shelli really wasn’t his end all be all.

I know this might seem like a negative review and I don’t want it to be. I really like Marcel and Zoe together. I have read 37 of these books now and there are only a few that I didn’t love the plot of. I like the curse aspect in this series and that it is all the men that believe in it and the women are just looking at them like they are crazy.

This book hit that sweet spot where dark romance meets emotional depth, and I was locked in from the dual POV alone.
Marcello is exactly the kind of MMC I can’t resist, feared, judged, written off as a villain before he even opens his mouth.
His quiet determination to prove he’s more than his last name, especially to a woman who sees straight through his armour, made him impossible not to root for.

Zoe, though? She shines.
She’s not naïve, not starry eyed, and definitely not chasing a fantasy she knows could destroy her. Her internal battle, between the safety of her carefully constructed bubble and the pull of a man who threatens to shatter it, felt raw and believable.
I loved that she stood her ground, even when her body and heart were screaming at her to give in.

The tension between them is palpable, one night isn’t just a hook, it’s a wound that never quite heals, and the push and pull that follows is addictive.
Add in the Bratva ties, Italian mafia bloodlines, and that delicious “I shouldn’t want you but I do” angst, and you’ve got a story that feels rich, dangerous, and emotionally charged.

Overall, this was a compelling, slow-burn dark romance with strong characters, undeniable chemistry, and just enough danger to keep my heart racing.
If you love morally grey men, stubborn heroines, and a sinner determined to be worthy of his woman, this one absolutely delivers. 💣📖

3.5 Stars - Zoe Petrov and Marcello De Bellises' story had a good plot. The reason I am having trouble with this series is because I feel that a good 25% of the story in the beginning is rehashing what I read from the previous book. It gets good after that, but then the ending in this one, before the epilogue, feels some what quick an abrupt.
I have loved all of this authors' other series. I have read every book she's written, but this series is a little harder to get through. Don't get me wrong, they are worth the read. I guess for me who has read these back to back, I'm having trouble with the rehashing of the previous story. Now for someone who is picking the story up who hasn't read the previous book it would be fine. I love the fact Mikhail Petrov, Izzy Valentino and Dominic McKinley are in this. They are such great characters from the previous series.

I'm vested in the entirety of these brothers original plot. I am looking forward to Santo and Vin's stories.

marcel and zoe💌

- 3.0⭐️

i enjoyed this book! however, i felt like i wanted more depth out of zoe, she wasn’t very open to marcel & didnt really explain what had happened to her! and if you’re in ‘love’ & get married i feel like you should be open to them. i also didn’t like when she kept running away, (but i know why she did) it was just a tad annoying. i felt like this book was too short! it’s 80% smut and 20% love. i would’ve loved a longer epilogue where we knew more about their life after they got married, but it was cute nonetheless.

but, i did love them together, marcel was very patient & understanding with zoe! which was nice to read. the chemistry was there, i just wish we saw more of it!

overall, this book was an easy read, definitely recommend if you’re just looking to mark a book down!

(guess we’ll have to wait until october & december to read another book in the series!)

No. Just no. Literally the first chapter: “A waitress wearing nothing but a thin black thong and sky-high heels approaches the table with a new bottle of whiskey before refilling each of our glasses. “Sweetheart, my brother here is getting hitched tomorrow. Help me convince him he should have one last hurrah,” I tell her.”

“Married, huh? Well, if I knew that, I would have brought out the good stuff. But he’s right. You definitely need to have a little fun before you tie the knot.” The girl then manoeuvres around to my brother. Leaning forward and pressing her bare tits into his face as she whispers something into his ear.”

Are we deadass? This is the mmc that I’m supposed to root for? The same man encouraging his brother to cheat on the night before his wedding day because it’s “his last night as a free man” ??? I’m supposed to like him? And read a book about him?

Right. Quickest 1 star review ever

A Sinner's Virtue follows Marcel and Zoe's story. Zoe we met in the Legacy of Valentino duet. She is the adopted daughter of Izzy & Mikhail. She moved to Australia to start a new life. She works for Lucy Christianson. Marcel is one of the De Bellis siblings. He is attending college and is friends with Dominic McKinley.

I love how resilient Zoe is especially with what happened to her. I could definitely understand her reluctance to date Marcel. He was just the right amount of overprotective when it comes to Zoe. Their personalities balance each other.

Izzy's cameo in this book was amazing! She is such a strong character and is one of my favorite characters in Kylie's universe. I also love how she and Mikhail let Zoe make her own decision when it came to her life. Although they were overprotective of her, they didn't suffocate Zoe.

This was a great continuation of the De Bellis brothers as it continues to weave the story of these brothers. Once again, you see certain scenes from a different brother’s perspective, which brings even more depth to those interactions. The chemistry between Zoe and Marcel is instantaneous and hot, but both bring plenty of trauma to the table. I loved seeing the crossovers with other characters, and especially seeing Izzy and Mikhail as protective parents. I would highly recommend to start with book one in the series, and when you get to this one you’ll get why.  I couldn’t put this one down once I dove in. I can’t wait to see which brother is next!
