OBI-WAN PLOTS A DARING MISSION INTO ENEMY TERRITORY! OBI-WAN and TALA must evade the INQUISITORS to rescue LEIA! Meanwhile, THIRD SISTER and the other INQUISITORS try to impress DARTH VADER by being the one to finally capture OBI-WAN!
3.5 on this one. You really get the sense of anguish from Kenobi when he bursts out of the Bacta tank looking for Leia. The cat and mouse game between her and the Third Sister is well drawn and paneled out. The Fortress is pretty cool, though I don't think enough attention was given to the Jedi tomb aspect of it, though seeing the youngling with the helmet was a bit surprising, and I forgot how that foreshadows the reveal of the Third Sister's history.
I wish more was depicted of the scene where Kenobi is in total darkness except for when he ignites his lightsaber and takes out two stormtroopers. I thought that was an incredible visual in the show, and it could have taken up a page or two of this comic, but it's rushed through and the colors just didn't feel the same. The cracking glass and the rushing water also didn't have the same feel on the page.
I wonder if we'll ever learn more about Tala in other stories, as she was pretty cool here, but I guess she doesn't need to be explained much more than she is.
The surprise rescue and Vader's fury that turns into grudging respect were two scenes that felt rushed at the end of this comic as well. I do really enjoy the story, though, and the art has been pretty terrific throughout so far.
When it comes to film/TV show adaptations into comic book form, I have seen so many times things either going down as a 1:1 mirror match or alternatively cuttings things way too short.
Here, I feel like they absolutely nailed it. The perfect balance between not doing a perfect playback, but still capturing all of the most important scenes.
Beautiful artwork, already know the story is great from the TV show, and a full cast of amazing characters to experience again - but in comic book form this time.
Really enjoying this series. It is a very nice sit back, relax, and enjoy experience. You know what's coming, it feels like home, and the artwork and vehicle of delivery (aka comic book) are nearly perfect.
It was cool seeing Obi-Wan kick some ass lol and Leia and him are just so good together. It would have been nice if they had met again before A New Hope and his demise :(
