The Beyond was his dream; until he woke up. Prince Zack of Tunock has spent his whole life suppressing what his kingdom calls “The Curse of The Beyond”; the desire to explore the mythical world rumored to lie outside the borders of The Three Kingdoms. But after war breaks out and he’s taken prisoner, The Curse of The Beyond grows ever stronger in his mind until he can think of nothing else, driving himself mad as he slowly starves inside his cell. That’s when he wakes up; in the care of his rescuers on the border of the very mountains that hold the mythical passage to The Beyond. The line between right and wrong is blurred as Tunockian siblings Lauraine and Zack make choices with the “greater good” in mind. But trust is broken and disagreements abound. Are the Three Kingdoms even worth saving when a world like Nilvanria exists? In book two of The Tunockian Chronicles, continue the story of Queen Lauraine, Prince Zack, and their friends as they trod through Nilvanria to save the kingdoms of Tunock, Taus, and Wilmington while facing their own dreams—and nightmares.

An excellent sequel that left me wanting more… and I THINK THE SHIPS I WANT ARE SAILING, figuratively and literally! If you want epic adventure that feels like chronicles of Prydain but with more grownups, this is the story for you. I can’t wait for Book 3!

Rayleigh, friend, I’m gonna need the final book in my hands ASAP!!!! That cliffhanger is going to stick with me until the final book releases. 😱

I have so many praises for this book. While the buildup was slower than the first book, the payoff was impactful! There were so many emotions throughout the story. From romantic hints between characters and sibling bickering, my attention was glued to the pages. I loved all of the characters’ dynamics with each other. I found myself rooting for all of the main cast! R.J. writes some of the most loveable characters I’ve seen in a book.

Speaking of characters…. My bratty boy, Prince Rueben, had some dedicated chapters!!!! The squeal I squealed when I arrived at his first chapter OMG! Bless you, R.J., for giving such an underrated character some love. Now I really want to know what the heck happens to him. Is it odd to say that I wanted to give that boy a hug after reading his very first chapter??? His reaction to Tunock being attacked was so heart-wrenching. My poor boy!! Please let him be okay in the final book.

I typed out one update a while back that I thought I couldn’t trust Eugene. Turns out, he is a precious cinnamon roll! Protect him at all costs. Nerdy characters will forever have my heart.

And goodness, that climax! I cannot believe Zack chose to stay with the crew of Freedom’s Revenge, without telling his sister goodbye no less!!

Also, Captain Boudica. OMG that girl! I wish I had her unwavering confidence and strength. What an epic character! Can’t wait to see more of her.

A million stars for talking animals. I am a sucker for them!!! I was not expecting the Sjena and the Lagan creatures to speak. That was such a cool touch!

And now…. I will be sitting on pins and needles for the final book. This is gonna be a painful wait lol.

Great read, great story, but there are a lot of mistakes in the book. Needs a good editing!
