I received a free copy of, A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor, by Linn B. Halton, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 of 3 in the Escape to Cornwall series. Summer weddings are really nice, though I prefer fall or winter, less sweaty for sure. I have loved Cornwall since I started watching Doc Martin. Jess and Riley have a very busy summer at the farm, a lot to learn, and growing to do. This is an enjoyable beach read.
A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor is Book 3 of 3 in the Escape to Cornwall series.
A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor follows Jess and Riley as renovations continue on Renweneth Manor in anticipation of their upcoming wedding. Jess’s best friend Ivy and her husband Adam are also juggling her bakery business on the farm and an unexpected arrival. Will Jess, Riley, Ivy and Adam be able to handle all the challenges in their lives?
This is such a sweet story set in Cornwall and I love the descriptions of the farm and surrounding countryside. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the series to get to know the characters and follow along on the entire journey.
A heartwarming story that celebrates a community that comes together to help one of their own. A great wrap up to the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Aria for the advance copy I received. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus Books for allowing me the opportunity to read this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd installment in Halton’s Escape to Cornwall series, following the residents and tenants of Renweneth Farm. As I received this as an ARC, I did not have the chance to read the first 2 parts of this story. I definitely think those who are already invested in the lives of Jess, Riley and their friends and family will enjoy this final book. For me, I wasn’t able to form a connection with them until the last 75 pages or so. Something I enjoyed about this story was Halton’s exploration of the complexities of blending families, as both Riley and Jess each have a child from a previous relationship. This added depth to the plot and I enjoyed the fact that Jess and Riley had healthy communication involving the difficulties navigating his ex-partner.
This book reads like a nice cup of tea on a warm spring day. It’s light, charming and doesn’t thrown the reader unexpected twists. This is a good choice for a reader looking for a lighthearted escape into the English countryside. It’s not the type of book I typically gravitate towards, but as a feel-good small town romance with low stakes, I enjoyed it once I adjusted my expectations.
A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor will be published on May 9th 2024
Firstly, I would like to say, that I loved the detailed descriptions in this book, the growths of the farm and the ideas for it. I could easily connect with the main characters Jess and Riley and the whole story was light, clean, and cozy.
The pair restores an old Manor and rebuilds it for their needs and adapts to modern necessities. It was a joy to read about the whole farm, its growing activities, and the preparations for Jess and Riley's wedding. However in my opinion the story was accompanied by too many calculations and I have missed at least a little twist in the story and therefore the wow effect.
All in all, I would recommend this book to readers in between books who want a light, cozy British story.
*I received an advanced reader copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
I’m a sucker for a countryside romance with a fabulous cover. The type of book you can curl up with on the couch with a mug of tea. And this book fits the bill.
It’s a small town romance set on a farm the Cornish countryside, and follows Jess - the owner, and Riley - her contractor turned fiancé. The story also weaves in a third perspective from Jess’s grandfather Cappy, that adds a beautiful secondary story around following your dreams and rediscovering the things you love after loss.
It’s the third book in a series and having read it standalone, I would recommend reading the others first as I feel like I missed a lot of context!
I really enjoyed the characterisation of Jess and her approach to parenting, marriage and business. I really resonated with her stubbornness to do everything herself and be independent, but I think it would’ve been good to see her lean on Riley a bit more. And Riley showed a lot of growth throughout the story, coming to realise the worth that he had, and that he shouldn’t keep punishing himself for past mistakes.
At times though, I felt like there could have been greater descriptions around who the characters were and what they looked like. Since this is technically a sequel in a series, I can understand the author wanting to keep some of this information light - but since I’d not read the earlier books, it took me until nearly 20% of the way through to understand who Cappy was. I think even for readers of the series, a bit of a reminder can be really helpful if it’s been a while between reading the book. I also just found it odd that Riley proposed AFTER the wedding planning was already underway? Again, it may have been something that would have made sense if I’d read the earlier books in the series, but the found it a little jarring.
Despite these thoughts, I enjoyed this contemporary romance. While the romance aspects were secondary to the storyline, I really enjoyed seeing the different couples across the book, and I thought the discussions around blended families were just so poignant. Plus I was so happy that Cappy also got his happy ending.
If you’re after an easy reading book that gives you the warm fuzzies and will make you want to take a trip to Cornwall, this book might be for you.
Thank you to NetGalley, Head of Zeus and Linn B Balton for providing me with an eARC copy of this book 📚
This book was perfect to read during the first few months of 2024 and will perfectly fit the May atmosphere!
It was a very cosy read, perfect while we're all waiting for summer. I loved the family, friendship, and community dimensions of the story, which felt like a big hug to the social side of my personality. The plot is utterly mundane as it focuses on the daily activity of a hub for small businesses, with the owner of the grounds, Jess, trying to juggle her activity with planning her wedding and renovating the manor she and her family are planning to live in. The story shows daily tasks, the events marking human life, and the struggles one can be confronted with, both related to entrepreneurship and dealing with others. This is a low stakes story and not the one to choose if you're looking for an escape from daily life. But there's also something utterly comforting with this sort of story, as they're reminding you that you're not alone.
The only complaints I would have are first the resolution of one of the conflicts which felt too convenient. It's not logical that Jess is finding the solution in a moment while that issue was the subject of a good part of the story and gathered numerous characters in trying to solve it. The other complaint would be that this is the second book in a duology (at least I think it is a duology) but I was sometimes lost between the characters, especially since the POVs are switching. Usually with this type of story, you can read the second book in a series without being too impacted by having skipped the first, and it was still true here, albeit a bit more difficult.
In brief: This book was everything I expected and I spent a very enjoyable and cosy moment reading it! I'd advise reading the first book before, as I said it was a bit difficult to enter the story and remember all the characters without this background. If you're looking for a cosy, British read, this book will be perfect for you!
The seasons are flying by and the little community at Renweneth Farm is growing. With The Courtyard Hub now a hive of activity and the bakery doing well, its time for Jess to move onto the next phase - restoring Renweneth Manor, and a big task lies ahead if it is going to be anywhere near ready to become the family home she and Riley hope it will be. With building works underway, and a wedding to plan, there is more than enough to keep everyone busy, so when fate decides to throw in an extra few curve balls, Jess begins to wonder if she can stay on top of everything and get the happy-ever-after she deserves.
For the final lovely instalment in the Escape to Cornwall series, Linn B. Halton takes us back to the bustling community at Renweneth Farm, where, thanks to Jess' vision, local businesses are thriving - and her own love life has taken an unexpected upturn in the shape of man-of-her-dreams, builder Riley.
Wedding bells are now in the air for the couple, but the path to the altar is about to be strewn with more than a few bumps. Business problems, clashing personalities (Prudie I am looking at you), housing issues, and growing numbers in the local community are causing all sort of headaches, and that is before we even get started on the nitty gritty of wedding arrangements, closure from previous relationships, and breaches to be healed in families, before the nuptials roll around.
As always, Halton packs this story with a wonderful community of characters, and balances her storylines about family, friendship and forgiveness with lots of engaging detail about house renovations and the ups and downs of running a small business. This is something I really enjoy about her stories, as it gives you a lot to think about at the same time as having your heartstrings plucked - and plucked they will be on the way to the warm and fuzzy ending.
Full of love, laughter and life, this book will make you yearn to live in beautiful Cornwall at Renweneth Farm too. It is a perfect book to snuggle up on the sofa with, and ignore the unseasonable rain outside!
A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor by Linn B Halton is such a feel-good book. There is no plot, really just a slice-of-life, but we have been following these lives for several books now and we know the participants, well. The rush is on the complete the remodel of the manor so that Jess and Riley can be married there and Riley can officially move in. There will also be space for his son, who he gets to see irregularly., and of course, Lola, Jess’s daughter. There are always problems with construction and this is no exception. Thank God for Riley and for Cappy, Jess’s grandfather. She works nearly every day along side the crew and she is there for most of it. They have become friends over the long haul to get the farm up and running. Adam and Ivy have discovered they are going to have a baby. They are over the moon and making plans a mile-a-minute. All seems to be coming together for Renweneth Farm, just as she knew it would.
Nothing is ever that easy, though, is it? They are doing so well her tax bill is going to be huge. A good problem to have, but one which needs to be planned for. Riley has his own problems with his family and Jess tries to be supportive but not pushy. Cappy needs to decide about the house he’s renting in Stroud, and Adam and Ivy need to try to get the mortgage to buy the house they are renting. Jess is relentless and keeps a smile on her face very day and supports all the people she loves and works with. It is such a nice story. I love to see it when things go right or can be made to go right. It doesn’t always happen but in this little world it does. Halton has created a group of lively and precocious characters and written a saga about their loves and their loves. Thanks, Linn B. Halton for this series.
I was invited to read A summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor by Aria & Aries. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #AriaAndAries #LinnBHalton #ASummerWeddingAtTheCornishManor
#Netgalley #summerweddingatthecornishmanor Renweneth Manor in Cornwall is a beautiful old building which after her grandmothers passing has stood empty for many years, now it definitely needs some love and attention to totally bring it back to life again. Soon, ground workers are on site and skips are arriving, and a new septic tank is being installed. Jess doesn't want to throw away much, feeling that it should be repurposed, and she feels she can hear her grandmother telling her to get rid of things. She doesn't know what to do. But there are also many business opportunities here, including art studios, bakery shop, a campsite and even yoga areas. Her boyfriend Riley and her grandad Cappy along with some local builders, are taking on most of the work. But with her own wedding on the horizon and her mum badgering her about organising things now and not leaving it to the last minute, things are really starting to stress Jess out. But with all the renovation work going on, she feels that should come first. Then, very soon, other things gradually take over her list of priorities, the main ones being workmen, companies going bust and friends starting a family. But soon, there are housing problems, friends with pressing issues regarding housing and family life, and problems with Riley's ex keep interfering in their everyday lives. Jess feels that things are never going to run smoothly, and the wedding list is getting longer, and nothing has been decided yet. Is it all going to come together on the special day?
A lovely feel-good story, set in a lovely location in Cornwall with a great set of characters that you can't help but care about. I really enjoyed reading it, a five-star read from me.
Jess has taken over running Renweneth Farm from her grandfather, Cappy. When his wife died, he didn’t have the heart to stay there. Jess is divorced and has a young daughter, Lola. Jess has made many improvements to the Farm by adding lots of businesses that draw a lot of people to the area. Some time ago, she hired Riley to help with restoring the large Renweneth Manor. Their togetherness found them falling in love and now they are engaged to be married in the summer. Jess’s good friend, Ivy, owns and runs the bakery and she and her husband, Adam, live in a small cottage near the bakery. With Cappy back and helping to get things done, life is very busy.
Each day seems to throw a roadblock in getting things done, but Jess and Riley are determined to keep things moving and with the help of their family and friends, they do so.
Their wedding in the summer isn’t something that Jess has had much time to concentrate on so her mother insists on taking over and getting everything on track. Everyone pulls together, plus friends and family come together to make this a tight and loving community.
I love the writing of this author and enjoy her books. They are down to earth and it’s like meeting good friends and helping one another face problems and solve them together. I do hope she writes more about Renweneth Farm as I’m excited to see how it grows.

A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor is at it's essence a love story, but it's so much more than that. It's about family (biological and found family), friends and community. Jess and Riley are engaged to be married, but there is so much else going on. They are trying to get their house ready to live in, convince her grandfather Cappy that they want him around, deal with Riley's ex and handle all sorts of crises.
You feel fully invested in this community and their joys and sorrows. The characters are all interesting and complex and the relationships feel real. They have flaws and they experience growth. It was a good read and although a couple of times I found the pacing a bit slow for my taste, I still thought it was great and wrapped up nicely. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the advanced copy. This is my honest review.
What a delightful read! It was fun to catch up with good friends in the Cornish countryside.
Jess and Riley are totally immersed in the rehab of Renweneth Manor and their wedding prep. Ivy and Adam are anxiously anticipating the start of their family and Cappy is contemplating his next life chapter. A lot is going on in the countryside and most of it is not smooth sailing.
The third & final book in the Cornwall series nicely and neatly ties up the stories, but also leaves room for maybe a sequel down the road!
I definitely recommend this series and reading it in order, you will feel as if you have visited the English countryside and made new friends!
Thank you to #NetGalley and Head of Zeus Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the third and final book in the Renweneth Farm series. It works as a standalone, but I do think it is worth reading the previous books for the full story.
Jess and Riley are planning their August wedding. However they have to have renovations completed on the Manor House before then - the story follows their progress and problems in the months leading up to the nuptials.
Plenty of family relationships to examine, and a number of miscommunication issues are explored. I really enjoyed revisiting old familiar characters - Cappy and Ivy are two of my favourites, and it was lovely to see their stories completed. I love the descriptive nature of the author's writing, and think it will make a wonderful summer read.
We return to Renweneth Manor for the final time in the series. Jess and Riley are well on the way to completing the renovations. It's a new chapter for Adam and Ivy as their world is about to be turned upside down. A certain someone breathes new life for Cappy. And to top it all, we have the summer wedding. It was lovely catching up with all the characters. Even Prudie became likeable after ruffling a few feathers. I have absolutely loved this series. I hope Linn writes another series that warms the heart. Thank you to Aria and Aries for the invitation to read this in return for an honest review.
A summer wedding is the third in the sunny series. Jess and Riley are navigating a new relationship, planning a wedding, renovating, keeping a business afloat too. It’s a trying time and Riley still faces the uncertainty of co parenting Ollie with sulky Fiona! This is a great book and it really complements the series. It was so nice to catch up and enjoy the Manor House and Cornwall in all it’s glory! Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of sn honest review.
It's a lovely, gentle, heartwarming story set in Cornwall about family, friendship and coping with everything life throws your way with the help of a supportive community. The relationships are believable, as are the ups and downs in the characters' emotional and business lives. I like the renovation details, the vibrant characters and the vividly described setting for this story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
The last book in the trilogy and it was a satisfying wrap up for all of the characters. Stands up okay alone but really meant to be read in order. I enjoyed the return to the farm and the happy ever afters. Full disclosure - I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
It was great to catch up with Jess, Riley and their family again. With the title A summer Wedding it was obvious who would be getting married but life is very busy with the ongoing work at Renweneth and Riley’s relationship with his family. It was great to see the outcome but I think there is still space for another book. Thanks to Linn and her publisher.
I really do love this series and it's not getting stale :). Riley and Jess are planning their wedding, Adam and Ivy are expecting their twins, Cappy is up to something and Prudie is making trouble, as usual!
There are some tear-jerking moments and a couple of heartstoppers but in their own way, everyone gets to where they need to be - even if they didn't know they needed to be there initially ;)
I read this book and have to say that the book was one of the kind that just made me happy and feel good. The story gave me a little bit of everything and wrapped it together with the big bow. The author has written a story that will be loved by many. Thank you NetGalley, Linn B. Halton and Aria & Aries for the book A Summer Wedding at the Cornish Manor. This is my personal review.
It was lovely catching up with the characters in this series (Escape to Cornwall). Jess and Riley were getting married while working on the Manor so they would have a family home. I felt really sad for Riley when he wasn't allowed to see his son. It would be nice for another book in this series for a catch up with the characters.
Liked: *Cozy farm setting *Great characters-seemed like good friends *Loved Jess &Riley’s relationship- same goals, good communication skills, similar experiences *At times emotional read *Happy ending
Didn’t care for: *Slow-burn read *Open door romance- had to skip a few paragraphs 🌶️
Thank you NetGalley and Aria & Aries Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
What a final slice of Renweneth Farm. It was lovely to see the Manor House brought back to life and to see Jess and Ollie finally marry and blend their families. And the double bundles of joy Ivy got were an added bonus.
A lovely read for the summer while lying on the beach.
Lovely cosy book to sit down with and feel comfort. Loved the characters who became live in the story. Picked out some stressful times which were resolved and showed great strengths of the mindsets. Sure to inspire all readers who love the building of new lives.
This is a heartwarming story about family and friends. It has very likeable characters, and it is set in a beautiful place, Cornwall. I like lovely romances like this with ups and downs of a community and with a happy ending. I will read the other two parts of the series as well.
I'm in the mood for light and heartwarming novel. This is a good one and made me smile, have fun, and root for the characters Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I was so looking forward to this book coming out, as I enjoyed the first so much and it definitely didn't disappoint. I loved imagining being there and it was a great escape.
Great to catch up with Jess and Riley and all the rest of the crowd. As always a lovely warm book full of great characters and a good storyline that makes very easy reading so that I read it in one go. I hope there are more to come in this series
I love this author and I love how good she is with making a standalone book, although you should also check out the series too. This is 3rd book in the series and there’s something about a summer wedding that fills my soul with joy. Lovely cosy read.
Book three. Cornwall. A totally charming, well written book, that I read all the way through on a day. Delightful, enchanting summer wedding, fell good read. Loved it
