Although this book was published a year after I was born, the message and stories are still very powerful, enlightening, and moving. Some great suggestions include talking about what you would do if you were attacked with your roommates, friends, partner, etc., so you can provide a better front, and learning the names of your neighbors, since people are more likely to come out when you shout their name versus "Help!" "Rape" or even "Fire!". Now I just have to decide to whom among my feminist friends I will pass this book along..
Such an important book. I found it in my late 20s when I was new to Los Angeles. I wish this book could be in every teenager's house so they could find it and read it for themselves. Survival is the goal. No victim shaming.
Every young person should read this book before leaving the family nest. It will equip them with reasons for following their instincts & distinguishing good ones from bad.
