Tempting Southern Days is written by L.P. Dover and a part of the Magnolia Grove series. If you love anthological series where each book is written by a different author, I recommend you start this series today. Tempting Southern Days is the seventh small town standalone romance within this series.
After a fateful tragedy struck Declan Parker’s life, he packs up his things and moves away from the city life, to something a little more quaint in Magnolia Grove. A change of pace and scenery is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Enough is enough for Magnolia Grove’s very own dentist, Ayla Carington. She only gets one day off, and that day used to be spent by the pool relaxing with a great book… That is until the new neighbor moved in. Now, her peaceful days are filled with the sounds of lawnmowers and chainsaws. She does what any somewhat sane neighbor would do, she walks next door to give her new neighbor a piece of her mind. What she doesn’t expect is for her neighbor to be drop dead gorgeous. She’s in for a very interesting summer.
The more time the two spend together, the more they become inseparable. But what happens when Declan’s New York problems follow him to Alabama?
My Thoughts:
I’m fairly new to L.P. Dover’s writing style. Thinking back, I can count on one hand, how many books I read from this author. I had no idea what I was getting in to when I picked this book up. I just know that I’m loving the Magnolia Grove Series, and my heart is invested to this wonderful world created by wonderful authors. With all that being said, I adored Declan and Ayla’s story! I loved the budding friendship that slowly merged into a relationship aspect. My heart was swooning from the very start! So if you love small town romances featuring neighbors and a city boy/small town girl trope, definitely pick this book up!
Now let’s talk about the characters starting with Ayla. Ayla was such a sweetheart in this novel. She’s the type of person who never meets a stranger. She’s kind hearted, gentle and considerate to those around her. She’s also fierce and stubborn when it comes to protecting those she cares about, and most importantly, she can get really cranky when her pool and reading time is interrupted. I found her character to be easily relatable, which made reading her point of view even more enjoyable!
And then we have Declan. I felt that Declan’s character grew throughout this novel. In the start we have a grumpy persona, but the more he opened up to Ayla the more that grump persona started to melt away. His character also had me shedding a tear or two. I honestly can't blame this man for being a vault and shielding his heart and thoughts from the world. Given his occupation and the tragedy he just endured, it’s warranted to be closed off. I loved the different facets to this man’s personality. I especially loved how protective he was of Ayla, from the start….
I have to say, my favorite moment of this novel involved Declan and Ayla’s neighbor Linda wielding a cast iron skillet! I laughed so hard during this moment!! If you know, you know!!!
Now onto the reason why I gave this book a four star rating. I decided to drop a star on my rating due to the fact that I wanted a little bit more from the suspense portion of this novel. I found this portion of the novel was a tad bit predictable. When it comes to suspense in romance novels, I expect to have a moment where I’m thrown for a loop and on the edge of my seat. sadly, the climactic part of this novel was a bit anticlimactic for me.
Overall, negativity set to the side, my heart swooned from the start of this novel! Declan and Ayla’s novel felt like a breath of fresh air! I couldn’t get enough of these two. So if you love small town romances featuring neighbors and a city boy/small town girl trope, definitely pick this book up!

I think I might have read all of the author’s books and I really love them, so I always look forward to a new release from her! I received an ARC of this book was very excited to read it! I knew that this book was part of a world, but it could be read as a standalone! I started reading it straightaway, and after reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book! It only took me a few sittings to read in one day and the plot developed at a quick pace and kept me wanting to read on and find out what was happen next! There was romance in the plot and I loved the way it developed and that it allowed for some sexual tension and steamy scenes! There was also some action and suspense, which added a lot to the plot! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Ayla was the main female character, and in this book she was a dentist in small town and everybody knew her! I really liked Ayla and she was sweet and helpful! She was also straight with her love interest and she supported him and was there for him! Declan was the main male character and love interest of Ayla! It was easy to see that Declan was hiding a secret in this book, but he was as open as he could be with Ayla when he was ready! I felt for Declan because he blamed himself for something that he couldn’t have predicted and it had a big impact on him! Declan was also protective of Ayla and they made quite the couple! This book was written from both Ayla and Declan’s point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be before I started reading, even though the synopsis gives the impression that it might only be written from the male character’s point of view! I loved that it was written from dual point of view because it helped me connect more with both characters and see their feelings for each other develop! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, which helped as Ayla and Declan didn’t spend every second of the plot together and they went through some situations by themselves! I also love the ending of this book! I now can’t wait to check out the other books set in this world! I haven’t even looked to see what authors are involved, so I can’t wait to do so and see if any of their books take my fancy! I'm excited about this author's next release as well! I also love the cover for this book! It suits the small town feel of the book and it would draw me to the book if I didn't already know the author's name! 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 by L.P. Dover is the 6th book in the multi-author Magnolia Grove small town romance series, featuring a Grumpy/sunshine, small town romance for Declan and Ayla. He thought he left the fast-paced lifestyle of being an undercover FBI agent behind. He quickly becomes enamored with Ayla, Magnolia Grove’s feisty town dentist, and he hopes that the truth about his past doesn’t send her running. One thing’s for sure, life in this small town is not boring. You never know who might end up being a hero!
Declan was a prime example of a Grumpy hero… lost in his grief and disconnected from the fact that his loud activities might disturb his neighbors. Well, feisty Miss Ayla had no trouble advocating for herself!🤣 I loved their dynamic that evolved quickly as emotions came out, and with some masterful meddling by Linda!! She was a true star of this book, underscoring the importance of strong world building, supporting characters, and why readers love quirky small towns so much!! Honestly, this book surprised me. I’ve been on the journey of this series from the beginning, so I already loved the town, and of course I enjoyed the romance and how spicy Declan and Ayla got at times, but it was the suspense aspect that took it to another level for me. There were some twists and turns that I didn’t expect that were fun and emotional at the same time! For such a quick read, there was a lot going on!! I was sad to see the end, and hope to find time to check out the author’s Circle of Justice series soon.

I am loving the Magnolia Grove Series!! This small town romance has a way of dragging you in and keeping you wanting more.
Ayla is the local dentist, who knows everyone and is willing to help when she can. However, when someone moves next door and interrupts her one day of relaxation she lets her feisty side out. What happens when she goes over and confronts this new neighbor and finds out he is not what she expected?
Declan is your true grumpy neighbor and hasn't quite fit in with the small town living yet. He has a routine that he follows and doesn't realize/care that he is interrupting his neighbor who he thinks is just another "rich" girl. What happens when Ms Linda puts him in his place and then becomes a matchmaker between Ayla and Decaln?
Can Declan overcome the tragedy that sent him packing and moving from New York or will he let it consume him? Will Ayla be able to get Declan to open up and move on or will she be trying to help a brick wall? These two have a spark once they get over their differences but will Declan's past finally catch up to him and take the one thing he is starting to care about the most?
Ms. Dover has a way with building her characters that it makes you feel as if you know them in real life. She also is able to drag you into the pages and keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what is going to happen next.
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Although this is the seventh book in this series I haven't read any of the previous books and didn't find the story hard to follow, so I think each can be read as a standalone. Ayla loved being a dentist, taking over her father's practice when he retired. She worked hard being in a small town had its draw backs. Everybody knew everybody else's business, and she was always on call if an emergency happened. Except now she had a new neighbour who liked to keep to himself as much as possible. Except when he decided to mower his garden on her only day off, and it's not a quiet mower. Oh no its exceptionally noisy and then there's all the banging. Why when she gets one day off. Declan had moved to this small town for a fresh start, he knew nobody and was certainly trying to keep it that way. Until his fiesty neighbour calls him out on his excessive noise, and she certainly isn't what he was expecting. Can he keep his secret and be friends, but what if his secret got out. He'd have to move and start again. This is a brilliant story of intrigue, attraction and coping with grief. I love the characters and they are so compelling and believable, with the added bonus of Linda who's the perfect mix of noisy neighbour and loveable gran. I loved everything about this book and will certainly be reading the previous books

Small towns don't always allow you to run away from your past or problems like most think they will. Declan was one of those people after resigning from his job after his brother got killed, Magnolia Grove was his fresh start or so he thought. Til he was confronted by his new neighbor yelling at him to quiet down and let her relax. Judging a book by the cover Declan thought Ayla was just a normal small-town woman relaxing at home next to the pool while her husband brings home the paycheck for her to spend. Fact Ayla is the town dentist after graduating from dental school and her dad handing the practice over to her, but Ayla had one day a week off from work where she can relax and decompress, and the rest of the neighbors knew that, so they respected her quiet. Declan wanted to keep his past pushed down but Ayla wasn't one to let that happen, she was going to keep pushing to knock those walls down or will Declan keep adding brick by brick to those walls. will Ayla be the key to help Declan through his past trauma or will it cause him to self-destruct. omg this was such a great read, and I couldn't put it down, the mystery behind it while the small-town love perfect combination

Declan was an FBI agent who came to Magnolia Grove after he lost his brother tragically. He needed peace and time to grieve. So everyone thinks his a bit of a grump. Especially his neighbor when he disturbs her Friday off days by being a bit noisy with his loud mower and banging around.
Ayla Carrington is the Town dentist. She loves her job and loves her Town. She works hard and Fridays are her day off. And for the last few weeks her neighbor has been making a Hackett and disturbing her day off. Meeting Declan didn't go so well after she confronts him about the noise🤭
But soon they work out their differences. However Declans past doesn't seem to Wan to stay in the past...So can he start something with this sweet neighbor when he has some unfinished business to take care of.
This was a sweet, cut4 story with a hint of suspense thrown into the mix. I loved that Ayla didn't let Declans brooding out her off and she wouldn't let him push her away.
If you love a good small town romance and you read the previous stories in this series you will definitely fall inlove with Declan and Ayla's story💖

This is another great book in the Magnolia Grove Series. A small town romance that will pull you in each and every time. This one is all about Feisty Ayla and her grumpy next door neighbor Declan. Ayla is living her life enjoying her job as a dentist and just being. But then Declan moves in next door and turns her little peaceful world upside down.
Declan is trying to deal with his past the best way that he can. He is trying to move on from the terrible tragedy that occurred in his life. But he doesnt know how.
These two get together and sparks fly but will Declan's past come back to haunt him and take away his happiness that he has finally found with Ayla.
I absolutely loved this one. I am going to say that so far this is my favorite one from the series. It was enjoyable, had some very fun moments, some very intense moments and some downright scary moments. But all of them were well written to make for one enjoyable book from beginning to end.
I was so happy to be able to get an arc of this book and give my honest opinion on it.

I absolutely could NOT get enough of this particular Magnolia Grove story, and everyone needs it in their lives. Ayla is the small town dentist, and will help anyone anytime so she cherishes her one day off, Friday, and reads by her pool. Declan is her new neighbor, and he's been making a lot of noise on her day off, and she finally goes over there to give him a piece of her mind which leads to something wonderful for both of them. It's quite the journey though as he's haunted by things in his past, and as he grows closer to Ayla (they're very much drawn to each other), he's worried if he tells her the whole story, she'll run from him. His past comes for him though so he doesn't have a lot of choice, and he learns that Ayla is made of stronger stuff so she's perfect for him, plus they definitely light the sheets up together. This story has so much goodness with the small town shenanigans of a hilarious supporting cast, super sexy times, tons of emotion, and even suspense to keep me guessing so of course I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Declan ends up meeting Ayla Carington, a Dentist, and his neighbor, he does not make a good impression at first because of all the noise he is making. Ayla heads over to give Declan a piece of her mind and ends up being attracted to Declan. Declan is attracted to Ayla as well but his past is holding him back.
Ayla is sunshine and happiness where as Declan is Mr. Grumpy. I liked how Ayla wormed her way into Declan's heart. Will Declan let Ayla into is life or contain to hold her at arms length? Will Declan's past bring danger to Magnolia Groves and Ayla? Will Declan realize that not only Ayla but all of Magnolia Groves have his back?.

Tempting Southern Days by L.P. Dover is the sixth book in the Magnolia Grove series – 12 books by 12 different authors. This book features a small town grumpy/sunshine second chance romance story for Ayla and Declan. Declan, who used to be an undercover FBI agent, quickly becomes enamored with Ayla, who is Magnolia Grove’s small-town dentist. I adored the dynamic between Ayla and Declan! The chemistry between the two of them was electrifying and kept me wanting more!
Tempting Southern Days has a bit of everything in it – drama, witty banter, passion, and even suspense, which really surprised me! I LOVED this book. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve loved every book in this series so far, but this book in particular had elements of suspense integrated that the others have not. There were some twists and turns that I didn’t expect! I loved watching the dynamic between Ayla and Declan evolve!

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Declan Parker is a former undercover Agent. He moved to Magnolia Grove, a small town without any thrills of his past life. There he meets Ayla Carington, the town’s feisty and fiery dentist. They get to know each other and he realises that she’s more than just a pretty face. She’s outspoken and intelligent. With her he feels that thrill that he felt at his former job. But he is wondering if she will stay by his side, despite his murky past? I loved their banter and conversations. Their chemistry and passion is off the charts. Declan and Ayla were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a small town, romantic suspense then you’re going to love it.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a small town, romantic suspense then you’re going to love it.

This is the 7th book in this amazing interconnected series from different authors and probably my favourite so far.
Declan was an FBI agent that has moved to Magnolia Falls after resigning when one of his cases went wrong. His hot next door neighbour Ayla is the town dentist and she is very feisty and independent. I totally loved her! Whilst their first introduction to each other was not the best that soon changed into red hot chemistry that sizzled between them. I don't want to say too much as it will give the story away and honestly you should enjoy it for yourself.
This was well written and full of friendships, steam, suspense, and intrigue. Once started you will be hooked until the end. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

I loved it! I have read other novels by this author and always enjoyed them. This novel did not disappoint. I love a small town romance that has all the elements of small town drama. Throw in next door neighbors with a cute meet dispute and I am in to read it. This novel had all that and more. It also had a slow burn feel to it which I loved. I was so excited to jump into reading this novel and from the first chapter I was hooked. I didn't want to put this novel down, I just wanted to keep reading to see what was coming next. I loved Declan and Ayla. I loved their first meeting. Their chemistry was so good. I loved watching them fall in love. I didn't want this novel to end. So so good!

Tempting Southern Days is part of the Magnolia Grove series. This one involves Declan and Ayala. All Ayla wants on her day off is peace and quiet. Hard to do when her new neighbor insists on mowing his lawn on that day. All Declan wants is to exist in peace and anonymity. Equally hard to do with a feisty beautiful neighbor next door.
I thought this romance was adorable. I really loved watching Declan and Ayla fall for each other. Neither one is looking for a romance, but its hard when their attraction is so strong. I also loved the neighbor. She was a hoot. There is also a mystery in this one and until it's solved, Declan and Ayla can't have their happily ever after. This is another recent romance that I stayed up all night to finish. I highly recommend it.

Ayla loves her days off and takes advantage of the pool with a drink and a book. This is her zen or it was until the new neighbor feels the need to do his yard on her only day off. When she gets fed up she marches over and gives him a piece of her mind. What she gets is sparks she wasn't expecting. Declan moved to a small town in need of peace in his life. He has been through a lot but when the neighbor comes over he realizes things are about to change. These two are attracted to each other and their banter is funny. But when Declan's past comes back can he save Ayla in time and live their happily ever after? I loved this story of how it just wasn't about the love, but about forgiveness, and friendships.

Declan and Ayla’s story is everything a good romance should be. The initial meeting was explosive and they both got the wrong idea about each other. But the attraction was there.
This wasn’t quite an insta-love story but it did happen quickly due to their insane chemistry as well as other factors. I really appreciated the fact that the drama was based on something other than their relationship. It was a refreshing change of pace and I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of this story.
Linda was a particular favorite of mine. She’s a feisty meddler who can always be counted on to show up with a sweet treat, so really, what’s not to love?

Tempting Southern Days had a bit of everything in it, from suspense, drama, witty banter and passion. What could an ex FBI undercover agent and a dentist have in common. Declan and Ayla don't hit it off at first but when these two are forced to see past their first impressions the underlying attraction takes hold. I loved that Ayla was the calm to his storm and so accepting of who he was. The chemistry between these two was electric and the small town atmosphere that the story draws you into soothes the soul. A story that is not only filled with love but has secrets that will be revealed. These two characters will steal your heart.

Ayla and Declanmight be my favorite couple in the series. Everything about their (kinda) enemies to lovers story was written perfectly. I loved her exuberant personality. She was the life of the party and brought nothing but smiles on people faces. She was feisty and funny and it was no wonder Declanfell for her.
Despite his past having a hold on him, with her help he manages to break free and with a help of a lovely and quirky older neighbor, he finds HEA when he least expects it.

Ayla is a confident, caring and kind woman. I love when she goes all crazy on Declan, her new neighbor, for his noise. He feels broken and is able to rebuild through their connection. Their story has soft emotion, fiery spice, scary suspense and some action. I have a couple issues with the timeline. There are a few places with a missing word. There are times that I feel like I am getting too many details and then some places I want more details. I love Linda and Ayla's mom and Declan's mom. It is also nice to see Ayla's connection to Kat. 3.5 stars.

This was a cute little small town romance with a little drama and suspense. I loved the connection Ayla and Declan had and chemistry was hot. Ayla was just what Declan needed to come out of his dark self and heal from an unforgettable event.
The story was great and the characters amazing but I was a little disappointed with the outcome of the bad guy. I felt like there was all this buildup of him being dangerous and threat and then bam he no longer was. It felt anticlimactic.
All in all it was a cute book and story. Another good read from Leslie.

Magnolia Grove is where I want to be especially if I end up as the neighbour to sexy Fbi agent Deckan. It's insta love between him and Ayla when they first meet. She is a spitfire and willing to break down all the walls of Declans heart after his tragic loss. Declan is haunted by his past and afraid to get to close for fear of losing her. But Ayla is a fierce companion and wont back down.
I enjoyed this one so much. Linda was a hoot and honorary grandmother who was one tough cookie.
