A warrior reborn. An enemy fueled by death. A fight for humanity.
Mercenary captain Sabine Giroux knew that death was a constant companion in her line of work, and when it finally happened, she wasn’t surprised.
What surprised her was that she didn’t stay dead.
Brought back as an undead revenant by the god Gnessos, Sabine is tasked with stopping a foe that seeks to siphon the power of death and destroy everything she holds dear in the process.
With a lifetime of combat experience to draw upon, Sabine must gain Gnessos’ favor to grow more powerful and fulfill her role as his champion. But with every rank of favor that Sabine gains, more of her humanity is lost as her undead nature threatens to take over…
From the bestselling author of Limitless Lands and Derelict comes this action-packed Fantasy LitRPG Adventure. Mythica Revenant is officially licensed by Arrowstorm Entertainment and is set in the amazing fantasy world of the cult-hit film series Mythica.
She just feels like an undead on paper, but with this stupid mask she could be just reborn, not resurrected. There is like one random undead intrusive thought thrown in, but that's it.
The world-building feels lacking. An Innkeeper/Questgiver/Guildmaster(?) just kills a dude in his tavern and nobody cares. A random merchant in a random small town sells exactly, what she needs, but has little else.
160 pages in and not one character that I care about or seems important to the plot. I guess the only one that might qualify is the monsterbook dude that, wild guess, will reveal her undead nature in the future?
The corruption talk is really inconsistent. Is she now corrupted or not? It's just black mana in her core, then some talk about her being corrupted, then she cleans corruption from the necromancer to her usual state, that is corrupted, but different?
Honestly interesting idea, but I think the starting point is too low. 1100 pages overall for this series that from the description appears to blow up in proportion to gathering allies and managing a city, but the first Quest is kill goblins.
What a great contribution to the up and coming gamelit genre. This is Dean Henegar's second series, the first being a trilogy starting with Cat Core. Which I loved so much that I found myself following Dean Henegar right into Mythica! And Mythica didn't let me down. I loved this book and the MC so much and found that it was so different, that honestly you won't be able to tell that the same author wrote both series. Like I said I loved the MC from the get go. From the moment when a God found her in the void and resurrected then ordered her to get up to worship it, where upon she replied "NO" that she wasn't gonna kowtow to 'em, she wasn't gonna be anyone's puppet! And even though she was now a revenant she would make the best of what she had. Powerful but not infallible, and surprisingly she made some friends something she never had, had in her life! So yeah follow Dean Henegar into Mythica and go ahead and get the audio version because it's great!
Mythica: Revenant is an interesting story. This is the first LitRPG book I've read where the main character is a revenant. I've read others where the main character was undead, but this is the first time there's been a straight up human revenant hybrid (you'll see what I mean if you read the book). It's interesting, because I'd expect it to be more zombie type of story telling, but not at all, this one stands up with the best of the LitRPG stories I've read, and I have no problem recommending this one to others. It's a really good story, and I'm going to keep an eye out for more in this series.
An enjoyable story. Of fresh take on the RPG world and undead revenant Who is good. Well being undead doesn't necessarily mean you're bad the Ones that brought you back usually are. In this case it's a little different. An enjoyable read Progression By the MC is steady and not OP. I look forward to the next book in the series.
It was interesting that a mercenary was given a chance to live again, but first, she needed to check that her family was alright. I loved that she was a powerful undead with a small army.
