If you like a steamy read where the mcs have an age gap of 19 years, a virgin heroine and suspenseful moments, you could give it a chance.
There were repetitions, some things were farfetched and others not well developed.

Brutal Mercy is the first book in the Massimo Mafia series and features Hades and Luna. Hades has spent almost his entire life being hardened to anyone and everything. He is the quintessential Mafia man. Luna is caught in a wrong place, wrong time kind of predicament and finds herself the obsession of a Cartel man.
Running, she runs right into the arms of another dangerous man that becomes obsessed with her from the moment she passes out in his arms. His stone heart is melted and there's nothing Hades wouldn't do to protect and keep Luna.
Luna wakes to find herself exchanging one bad day for another...well kind of. Hades makes her yearn for more and the two of them decide to take on the world together to take out the baddies and find her sister. Because these two plan on sticking together.
Brutal Mercy had a lot of insta-love and there was a significant age gap. However, I did enjoy the romance and the action. Hades was a Mafia man you'll love but I found Luna to be a little naive and childish at times. However, I really did enjoy this and look forward to what's next in this world.

The story is the first in this new series, Massimo Mafia, by Ms. Anya Summers. The story takes place in Colorado. The two main characters are Hades Massimo and Luna Abbott. Two people, opposites, will be brought together by chance, with Luna running for her life, and into the arms of Hades. She is running from danger when Diego Alvarez attacks her in her family-owned store and she escapes, running through the wilderness for ten miles, running out of energy, and finds herself heading for a huge compound. What a shock for Hades, when she collapsed in his arms.
Luna Abbott was reading to go to college when her parents were violently murdered. Her entire life was altered that day. The full-ride scholarship to Stanford will not happen. She has a minor sister that needs her. So instead of living her dream, she becomes a guardian to Lyla and runs the business that her parents started.
Hades Massimo is at the secure family compound in a remote location in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. What a shock when his security team alerts him to a woman running toward the compound screaming for help. Hades instructs them to open the gate and catches Luna. But this could be a setup, he must be careful. When he sees that she has been beaten and hears her story, he takes action. Could she be the means for taking out the cartel?

Will marriage to Hades be going from the frying pan into the fire?

I like Luna, and I think she and Hades had chemistry from the moment they touched each other—it is kismet. Hades is the head of his crime family, a man known as the King of Torture. She's done it again!!!
Anya Summers has a new series out entitled "Massimo Mafia" with the first book being 'Brutal Mercy'. There's so much I want to tell you but I don't want to give anything away on this one. Suffice it to say, he is known as the King of Torture and she is young, naieve, and been dealt a hand most couldn't shoulder. The storyline is riveting, the characters, as usual, are strong with 3D personalities, and the drama, emotion, and chemistry are intense. There's no questioning whether I want more of this series. After reading this one, it's a foregone conclusion.

This was a well written romance with a heroine that I actually liked. Luna was just the right amount of independent without being a b-word about doing everything on her own. Also, Hades was deliciously OTT J/P. These two together made the best part of the story. It was a dark, emotional, suspenseful romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Mediocre/juvenile writing. The first chapter is a repetitive inner monologue. I thought maybe it would change….nope that’s how the whole book is. The plot was weak and all the FMC did was pee, hobble around, and ask to use the bathroom.

This was a dark mafia billionaire age gap romance.
I was hesitant at first to read a dark mafia romance, but the bulk of the story is about the romance. The author does provide a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. I actually liked the characters because they were realistic. The story was steamy, a little scary and unpredictable. Would recommend!
Luna Abbott inherited the Rocky Mountain Depot, a Western themed general store, from her parents. She is also raising her younger sister.
Hades Massimo is the head of the Massimo crime family. He is known as the King of Torture. He has two younger siblings Ares, his second in command and Athena. Their legitimate business is a stock brokerage firm called Massimo Enterprises.
Four years ago when she was18 Luna's parents were killed in a car jacking. She gave up her scholarship to Stanford to take over running her parent's dream business and raising her sister. She is exhausted, drowning in bills and overwhelmed. A creepy customer, Diego Alvarez, has been harassing her for the past year. He came in and told her it is time for her to be his when she refused he slapped her around. She managed to flee the store into the forest behind it. She initially followed a trailhead but got lost and injured her ankle. She sees a group of buildings and heads to them. A man stands in the open gate and catches her as she faints. Hades takes her to his bedroom and calls a doctor to get her checked over. When Luna tells him what happened he uses that as an excuse to start a war with the Alvarez cartel. They find out her sister was kidnapped by Diego and he is holding her hostage until Luna gives herself to him. Hades tells Luna he will get her sister back if she will marry him and she agrees. Hades forms an alliance with the Orlov Russian mafia family and forced his sister to marry Rurik Orlov to seal the deal. They plan to eradicate the cartel from Denver and get Luna's sister back. The cartel attacks both mafia compounds, Ares rescues Luna's sister and Luna & Hades get their HEA.

Brutal Mercy is the first in the new Massimo Mafia series. While it was very descriptive, I didn't find it to be wordy just for the sake of it, but more because the author was maximising the chance to build both the world and the story in this first installment. A couple of times I felt like things were a little bit repetitive (mainly the main characters' inner monologues), but it didn't put me off reading, and I did enjoy the story as it was so jam-packed with spice, drama, and danger and does have me eager for more in this series.
The story follows Hades, the head of the Denver Mafia, and Luna, his complete opposite, and, thanks to circumstances within the story, his new wife. Their story features plenty of my favourite tropes: age gap (he's 19 years her elder), mafia romance, virgin heroine, and marriage of convenience, and it did so very well. The spice scenes were rough and almost primal, full of passion and intensity from the very onset, and they happened quite often. But between all the intermittent spice scenes, there was character development and also the development of their relationship outside of the 'convenience' aspect. I loved the little moments where Hades was soft towards Luna, always wanting to carry her so he could have her in his arms. It showed a side that not many got to see from him.
The introduction of sideline characters such as Hades' siblings Athena and Ares and their new-found coalition with the Russians not only added more to this story but teased us with what may come from future books in the series.

If this is the standard we can expect from this new series by this talented author, then we are in for a treat. Ms. Summers captured my attention from beginning to end with this fast-paced, mafia-themed, drama-filled romance. You might think this is another dark and disturbing story, but it's so much more. You get a compelling love story filled with raw chemistry, danger, drama, action, brutality, and a thrilling tale of good versus evil.
This story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It has a masterfully crafted narrative with fleshed-out characters in Luna and Hades. Their story was refreshing in its approach and creative in its execution.
On the run from her attacker, Diego Alvarez, broken and beaten Luna Abbott by some sort of miracle, finds safety in the arms of Hades Massimo at his compound in the Rocky Mountains. Hades feels overwhelmingly protective of Luna but also grasps the opportunity to take out the cartel who have kidnapped Luna’s sister. Hades was brutal, violent, and a dangerous man who was not afraid to get his hands dirty, but he was different with Luna. What started as a business arrangement quickly morphed into intense protectiveness and passion.
I admired Luna for her courage and belief in Hades. Did that belief get a good shake at times? Yes, it did, but Luna was aware and accepted that Hades was head of the Massimo crime family and all that came with it. He lifted the burden that she had carried on her young shoulders and set her body on fire. She was the perfect mix of strength and submission.
This book has the right balance of tension, emotion, and heat to make me one happy reader.

The start of the Massimo Mafia series so make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Hades sexy as all get out head of the Massimo family with a reputation preceding him, he isn’t a man to be crossed, feared by most, ruthless daily, deadly every day, and if you value your life then you won’t ever get on his bad side. Luna is a sweetheart but one that had to grow up too soon after the death of her parents she has been taking care of their store, younger sister, she is assaulted by a brutal man, beaten, on the run for her life in hopes of protecting her little sister but she runs right into the arms of a man much more brutal than the one who hurt her. The moment he decides to save her the attraction is instant, yet they couldn’t really connect because of her worry for her sister who was also taken but he does an excellent job at keeping her mind off of it while getting to know her better but boy when he gets his hands on them, will they get to her sister in time, will his lifestyle bother her considering what happened to her, and can they find happiness somewhere along the way?

What a wonderful start to a new series by Anya Summers. While this book has loose ties to Ms. Summers' other series, Dungeon Singles Night, it is a standalone and introduces readers to the formidable Hades Massimo, King of Torture and head of the Massimo family and Luna Abbott, a store owner, living her parents' dream while raising her younger sister.
This book draws you in from the beginning. From the attack on Luna to her escape to her encounter with Hades, readers are drawn in by Luna's courage (and fear) and by Hades' desire to protect and avenge.
In order to protect herself and her sister, will Luna agree to Hades' proposal? Will Hades be able to convince Luna his motives were not just about revenge and opportunity? Will Luna admit she desperately desires to be everything Hades needs - lover, friend, wife, confidant, submissive? What will become of Luna's sister, Lyla? Will Hades' sister, Athena, meekly follow her brothers' command to marry Ares, in an attempt to unite the two families? Will Diego get his comeuppance before all is lost?

Captivating read with wonderful characters and storyline that will captivate
The head of the crime family was a responsibility that was feared by those that crossed him, everyone knew that the Massimo family was not a man that had to be messed around with. The fact that as a decent man he was not known he was the King of Torture and he would always find any information he needed.
When he come across a young woman that has quite obviously been beaten, she is covered in blood and her body is covered in bruises and cuts and it was obvious that she needed help to be treated for her injuries.
Hades had fallen for Luna and when they spent time together, she realised that she needed him in her life and the reactions between each other show that their feelings were real and the love between her and Hades had slowly grown.
I look forward to future books in this series.

Brutal Mercy is the first book in the Massimo Mafia Series by Anya Summer's.
Let me begin by saying mafia romance is my favorite trope, and for that reason, I expect a lot from those stories. Brutal Mercy was the first book I have read from this author, and there was a lot I liked about it.
Luna has never had anyone take care of her. Since her parent's death, she had taken care of their store and became guardian to her teenage sister. Things get much worse for her when she is assaulted by a dangerous man, and she has to literally take off running from him. She runs straight into the arms of a man who may be more dangerous but who also changes her life.
Hades is everything you want in an MMC. He is surprised when Luna runs to him for help. He is usually the one to be feared. But with Luna, he instantly becomes fiercely protective, possessive, and shockingly caring.
Overall, I liked this book. I did feel there were some odd elements. For example, when Hades wants to distract Luna from her sister's retrieval, he offers to take her to the ballet, and she just says okay what should I wear?? Or, just overall, how little the sisters' whereabouts seem to weigh on them and seem time critical. Also, I think I could do with a few less spicy scenes in order to expedite the sister's return.
It may sound like I did not like the book when, in fact, I did. I simply think it was about 50 pages too long. BUT, the actual mafia elements and action scenes and overall plot were very well written, and the chemistry between these characters was perfect.
I will definitely be on the lookout for the next books in this series. I have my fingers crossed it is Ares and Luna's sister, although I will need one with Hades’ sister and her Russian husband, too!

Wow, I was absolutely astounded reading this book it was amazing, the story was written well and the characters were absolutely captivating. This story was about Hades Massimo and Luna, Luna! Is responsible for her younger sister, the family business and the family home when she lost her parents. She was at work when a customer came in to claim her, then he grabbed her she got away and ran for her life. Hades the the head of the Massimo Mafia family, him and his siblings have Greek Mythology Names. Living in the Compound and his men guarding made it safe for the family. Someone was running towards the Gates so Hades went down to meet the stranger they was barely able to walk. This book had so much going on and TRIGGERS included, there was a magnetic magnetic connection and when they touched electrifying when they kissed but will that be a one off or many more sizzling nights to come.

Luna has had to grow up too soon. Her parents were killed and she was left to take care of her little sister and take over their store – having to give up all her dreams. Putting up a fight, Luna is able to escape and ends up near the compound for Hades Massimo – leader of the Massimo Mafia. Hurt and about to pass out, the sparks fly between Luna and Hades. After she is taken care of, Luna realizes that her sister could be in trouble – Lyla has been kidnapped by Alvarez and Hades puts a plan in motion for Luna to marry him so that a war can be started.

Luna is raising her sister on her own while running the family business. One night a customer refuses to take no and roughs her up while trying to kidnap her. She gets away and runs miles to find help at a gated home. Hades is known as the King of Torture but the minute he sees Luna limping to him hurt and beaten he knows that she will be his. Luna wakes and finds herself in a room with the man that saved her. However, she needs to save her sister. Hades sees this as an opportunity. He makes an offer marry him and he will save her sister. Luna agrees because she isn't afraid of him and surprisingly attracted to him. Will their marriage end up in tragedy? Can he keep his promises?
This book does have some things that may trigger some. However, its a great story that will draw you in so much you won't stop until you are at the end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

I don’t like Mafia at all, so then why did I get this book? Well, the answer is easy: it is written by Anya Summers. Anything she writes is worth reading.
The first chapters were brutal, but Luna changed everything. The story is addictive, you can stop reading it, and when you finish it, you want to read the next one. Unfortunately, we have to wait for the next book in the series.

What an awesome start to a new series by Anya Summers. I devoured this book in just a couple of hours. Loved Luna as she was independent and doing her best to raise her sister. (who I hope gets a story in the future) It's intense in places and there could be triggers so check that but I loved this book. Hades is over the top possessive and jealous of anyone who touches her and he's going to make the man who hurt her pay. There's drama, lots of action and so many side characters who I would love to see get stories. When her sister is kidnapped, Hades will move heaven and earth to get her back for Luna. And while it takes him a bit to realize for himself that he's in love with her, you know Hades already is by his actions. I desperately want stories for Hades sister and brother! Loved this book so much and can't wait for more!

Perfect mix of mafia, age gap, insta love/lust. Hades and Luna meet under abrupt circumstances when Luna is running for her life. Hades sees an opportunity while also being instantly attracted, protective and possessive of her. They marry within hours, her to save her sister, him to start an war, and then set on a discovery of each other. What an erotic and passionate discovery it is.
While there is violence and it is a dark romance, this is all about these two becoming a couple. The emotion that is experienced with each of them is incredible.
I’m thinking I need to move to Denver. All the good things happen there. At least in Anya’s well written world.

OMG, this story will pull you in for keeps!

Luna is a resilient woman that when faced with a zealous, handsy customer, she fights him off and runs into the woods for miles. I love that Luna runs right in to the hands of Hades in his compound without a second thought of the new danger she is facing, because the electricity between the two is over the top. What follows is a twisted plot that has Luna in Hades protective clutches, but her sister in the hands of the enemy. How will it all play out? You have to read to find out and will be rooting for Hades to man up to the idea of love winning all!

I wanted to love it, but…
It started off great, but then went completely sideways. We call it squirrel brain in my house. Bad guy gives a 72 hour deadline, but we don’t know from exactly when. We go straight from virgin and I’m not having sex with an injured woman, to a pretty violent intro to sex, to a lot of sex, to alliance, to let’s take a day away, to bad guy struck again, more sex, while STILL having the sister, to let’s go get him, to more sex, to wait we’ve been betrayed, to bad guy dead, to sister was finally rescued, but oh, yeah sister was raped all the while the H/h are having all their sex, to a year later, H/h are on vacation, and she’s pregnant. The end. Oof.

I am so glad to see that this is only the beginning of Massimo Mafia series by Anya. This book I highly recommend you read this book because it will get your blood a pumping and sometimes really fast. This book is action packed with suspense, romance and even some heat. I will for warn you though there are some really intense scenes that if you can't handle reading then this might not be the book for you. However as this is the first book, I have read by Anya, I suggest you give her a shot because she can write a wonderful book.

Luna's world is turned upside down when a man she despises come into her store and demands that she is to come with him. Fighting to get away lands her up the mountains and onto Hades's property and right into his arms. Sparks ignite right from the start between these two and when he learns about who and what she has endured Hades is determined to right her wrongs and make her his wife. This touching story had my emotions all over the place and cheering this couple on to getting their chance for happiness.
