High school sweethearts Quest and Tillie had a forever kind of love most people only dreamed about. Until Quest turned it into a nightmare and destroyed everything by cheating on Tillie.
He had no reason to cheat. At all. He doesn't even know why he did it but he sure did. Over his desk in his office. And man did he grovel. He didn't even like her or want her and that is what was so wrong. And his wife walked in on his big finish. It was her high school nemesis. He ended up finding g out she did this with everyone and then blackmailed them and he called the police on her and she went to jail. It was just so wrong. Good writing though or I never would have read this. I can't believe I did! But I cried. A lot. It was sad. They are separated for a long time. She held her ground. She even dated. And kissed someone else and he was watching.

There aren't many books that felt too emotional for me but this one? I struggled to keep my emotions and my tears, my heart breaking for both of them. And yes my heart broke for the hero too even though he was in the wrong. But this book not only shows how the cheated is hurt but the cheater too. Because he was devastated and you could feel, taste his devastation. And the heroine! Oh my heart be still! You can see their journey throughout this trauma that doesn't instantly pass but needs a lot of time like 2-3 years. That is so realistic! Congratulations to the author truly for giving us this book. I just hoped for it to be a little bit longer.
This one actually broke my heart bc I could feel how in love the hero & heroine were it was honestly more sad than anger reading this bc in her other stories the guys are more majors dicks so I feel less sympathy for them
Quest .. was not a dick by choice but that didn’t mean didn’t want to light his dick on fire after he cheated for no real reason that fucking asshole it was so disgusting 🤮 that scene literally was a gut punch I felt like throwing up
Tbh this is the case where I actually liked the hero more than the heroine don’t get me wrong I liked tille a lot but I do think the author could have done more w her character in terms of growth she could have dated more she could have made more friends she could have traveled a bit maybe by her self .. idk something was just off w her and it annoyed me bc I’m rooting for her to kick ass and show quest what he’s missing .. but at times she was just soooo idk like meh
And I hated feeling that way bc I was angry for her and mad at quest but then I’d read quest chapters and see how in love he was w his wife and feel even madder bc I was getting less mad at him and more annoyed w tillie for not giving him enough hell… lmafo
But I think what really makes it a five start like I said when you read his pov you see how much he loves his wife how devoted he is to building their life together and building her a house and spoiling her .. and that made it all the more heartbreaking when you know he cheated on her
Still This story made me feel all the emotions and tbh published books cant even do that lately this authors a great writer I love the way she writes angst heartbreak redemption & character growth you really don’t see that in published books now a days and this is free on wattpad to read.
Safety
Cheating it happens once he did it w ow he claims he was stressed w she came on to him and he blacked out except for the last moment and he still chose to rip oh his condom and cum on her ass soooo yeah that’s a really hard scene to read ngl
The heroine dates a little but nothing serious and tbh that bugged me after you get cheated on why should the woman reman chaste for him? It’s stupid to me it doesn’t have to be abt sex she can could just enjoy male attention or at least a kiss but I guess that’s just the way it had to be 🙄
The hero is never w anyone after he cheats he basically grovels the whole time after and begs and pleads to be with his wife again which i loved reading abt
For a cheating and reconciliation book I’m surprised to say this but all 3 of those stars are for the Hero who did the cheating. Don’t get me wrong, what he did was extremely wrong but he worked his ass off to become better.
The heroine though? I couldn’t stand her. She kept him in limbo for 14 months because she wouldn’t file for divorce. She also chose to date during that time and when she kissed OM she blamed the hero because she had now “kissed more than just one man”. The hero didn’t force her to do anything. He backed off but still cared for her in ways that she never knew (this heroine didn’t fill up her gas tank for 9 months and it never crossed her mind that the Hero was doing it for her….it never crossed her mind that SHE may need to do that). She blamed HIM for her choices. She was a pampered princess who never accepted that she also had some fault in their marriage - there is NO blame for the cheating, he did that, but her putting every single weight on his shoulders and failing to be an adult partner? Yeah, that’s all on her.
3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK or decent reads ======================== He had no reason to cheat and he did it anyway. But he soon regretted it. It's a shame he tarnished their relationship, as they had both been dating since high school and were each other's first.
This is a first for me, not just with this phenomenal author, but I think ever. Everything I liked about this book was due to Quest, the h. He makes a horrible mistake but immediately owns up to it and does everything in his power, and I mean everything, to make it right. Moreover he does all of this without asking anything really of Tillie and is fully aware that he may not be able to make it right. I forgave him 25% into the book and was left wondering how my Grinch heart grew so many sizes.
So why 2 stars? Tillie. Try as I might, I just couldn’t get behind her. She had this chip on her shoulder about being protected and taken care of, but it never bothered her when it was actually happening. She talks extensively about her growth in therapy but honestly I didn’t see it. I felt like she talked a big game but when it came down to it, it wasn’t living up to what she was saying.
Moreover I felt the reconciliation left a lot to be desired because Tillie was dragging it, and then a lot of it was fade to black conversations. There was also the plot hole of the ring - did he find her old ones or get her new ones? The softball part of her character also seemed to vanish. Izan was thrown in at the end but it would have been cool to see him weaved though. Quest’s mom also kind of dropped from the story when their families were big characters initially.
I will say Quest is top 5 GroveltoHEA hero for me and he definitely makes the story worth reading.
It started out with a bang and fizzled out so I started to skim. Was actually too repetitive. But I really have to disagree with a lot of reviewers who don't believe Quest doesn't remember what happened during the one time he cheated. Unless you're a therapist, psychologist, what have you, you can't just say neigh I don't believe you. I understand you're going on feelings alone, but you can't always do that. A family member of mine is an actual psychologist with her own practice and it is very possible. As I needed help with explaining a trauma that happened to me where I only remembered the beginning and the very end. Everything else in-between is none existent. And it was 30 yrs ago. No matter what other's say who were there and saw it's still a blank for me. My what the brain will do to save you. So give the author some credit because it does look like she did some research when it comes to thing's like this. Plus, her very own real experience she mentions at the end. But as far as the story went, I just really disliked both characters personalities. Quest for thinking it's weak to count on his partner because it's not male enough to share his stress and his fears, and Tillie for being a coddled princess. Definitely not a fav. Oh one more thing. I disliked how Tillie started dating while she was still married yet still leaving Quest guessing if she would take him back or not. To me that was cruel and immature. Just shit or get off the pot as my Appalachian grandma used to say 🙈😬
I’ve loved reading all of G2HEA’s books and typically finished one within a few hours, but this one took a while. It felt extremely slow and couldn’t hold my attention. I had to put it aside for a bit. I liked the overall story, just not all of the heroine’s decisions. She refused to see him or talk to him, and despite moving out immediately, she didn’t want a divorce. She kept dangling hope at him, even when she started dating other men. She was a very naive character. I realize that the maturing and growing up of both characters was a part of being able to move forward and was necessary for them to learn who they were as individuals as opposed to a couple since they had been together since they were 16.

Look, I know it's hard, if not impossible to forgive cheating, especially when you see it firsthand, but this book just draaaaagged it out so long! They should have at least divorced or officially separated, but to spend over a year with no action on that front just gives it away that they were going to reconcile.
I also know cheating isn't something you get over quickly (if ever), but there were several times when it felt like I was reading a self-help book on how to survive infidelity. The book started to get a little clinical & I started to get impatient & bored and just wanted the book to end.
If you want some tips on how to get past cheating, go ahead & read this book. But if you're looking for romance & emotion, I'd say skip this one.
This one was a bit repetitive .. like literally the same paragraph about his cheating / betrayal was repeated over and over in this book!
It was still really good, I enjoyed the grovel and the fact that the entire town had Tillie’s back! However the repetition deterred me and it took a bit longer to finish!

Enjoyable story well written and nice that they grew together having been childhood sweethearts. I’m sure lots of couples don’t make it when they’ve been together from so young, so this was a nice change; it wasn’t all romantic “ I forgive you” fluffiness, they worked for it and that is a refreshing change for romance novels .
4.5 read! Quest definitely earned his second chance. I really like this book and it would have been 5 stars but I couldn’t get the cheating scene (on page) out my mind, lol so, I understood why Tillie made him work for it 😅. I recommend this book... the groveling was good.

3.5 ⭐️ An emotional second-chance romance. The writing flows beautifully, and Quest and Tillie’s journey—from high school sweethearts to a broken marriage and back—is raw, heartfelt, and real. A quick, powerful read about love, mistakes, and redemption.
I'm giving 1 star as it started well. Unfortunately I got bored with this one and not sure why? Anyway I couldn't finish it so I'm only staring on what I read.
The problem, for me, was Quest, the H. He went from literally thinking, This woman needs to get out of my office, I don't want her, to having sex with her on the desk. And he never figures out why. Which means it could happen again.
Ok, technically is therapist explained to him about misplaced anger and lack of communication with his wife, which could explain the "why." But, to me, Quest saying "My therapist said..." doesn't mean that Quest himself is actually going through character development or change. It's a whole lot of "My therapist said..." I didn't feel like Quest ever came to a breakthrough epiphany or anything. He just accepted what his therapist said. Quest's brain was an empty vessel being filled with therapy speak.
The therapist also said it was the kind of cheating that is forgivable, the marriage is fixable. I feel like the therapist can't decide if it's forgivable because the therapist isn't the one who has to forgive.
I didn't mind Tillie leading him on or stringing him along for a year, or whatever. He cheated. She didn't owe him shit.
While I totally enjoyed this, I'm still leaving it at 3 stars because I just don't see staying married to someone for 4 years but not living with them that whole time and only starting to date again 2 years into the 4. They barely saw each other the first 14 month after their marriage imploded. Tillie made no move to divorce Quest, she just moved out and cut off contact with him. I mean, I TOTALLY get why, but their time working their way back to each other was LOOOONNNNGGGG.
Not sure how to rate this one. I do like that Quest put in the work in therapy alone and with Tillie, but he had absolutely no reason to cheat. I do agree with the book that there's never a good reason to cheat, but Quest's cheating just didn't sit right with me.
