When you have 5 kids' hair to cut, it's just more economical to do it yourself and you don't have lengthy appts or struggles with someone you don't know to wrestle your kids through it. I knew nothing about cutting hair before I picked up this book and after I quickly glanced through it, I delved into cutting & it actually worked! It was a great help just to know the basics & to have such clear pictures to illustrate it. If I can do this, ANY Mom can do it!

Nice, clear photos--unfortunately they were mostly of sort of unattractive people, with unattractive haircuts. So that sort of cancelled things out. But the techniques were good to read about, like how to comb & section hair during a cut, and how to make guides. I think it's a usable book, but with limitations.

What I didn't like: the haircuts!!! Not one would I ever place on anyone I care about.

This book was great for at home hair styles and naturel recipes for shampoos, conditioners, treatments and styling product. Very green!
