Disguising himself as an Ugly Monster, Hyena has the upper hand until Monkey-Monkey learns that he has been tricked. Watercolor-and-pen illustrations supply ample context clues for young readers, who will enjoy practicing their reading skills to find out which animal is the best trickster."-- School Library Journal.

Monkey takes the help of hyaena but the hyaena is smart. Hyaena informs the monkey that he should cook soup for her. Next day, the hyaena dresses up like a fearful beast, she eats the soup and runs away. Next day, also is monkey is tricked. Monkey follows the hyaena and finds how she has changed her dress to trick the monkey. Now, monkey dress up like a giraffe and starts cooking the soup. The hyaena arrives. This giraffe informs the hyaena that the monkey is aware of how she has tricked him, therefore, she must construct the monkey’s house today. Hyaena constructs the monkey’s house by working hard for the whole day. Monkey throws a party of soup for all his forest friends for his new house. Coloured illustrations of all animals help the pupils to relate to the story. I have read the Hindi language translation of this book.
Children would love this story for the trickery and surprise ending. I personally enjoyed this book with such entertaining illustrations and the plethora of animals used. This book would be a very good book to read aloud to students. Children will be so curious about the animals and will give you good time to talk about all the different animals and where they come from. Talking about playing tricks on somebody and explaining to kids the right way and wrong way would also be another valuable lesson they could take away from this book. They will love the story and want it read to them again and again.
