Sylvia

The difference between existing and living is perspective.

I knew what love was once, it was palpable, like holding water in your palms. I let it slip through my fingers and knew that without it I would fall into the depths.

I’ve been drowning in the depths of love and loss for so long that I don’t know that breaking the surface is even within reach.

Valor

Her eyes remind me of a summer rain and after ten years of searching for her I’m ready to let her storm rip through me like a hurricane.

I’ve done what I needed to and now that I’ve found her, I have to save her.

She doesn’t need a knight in shining armor, she needs a sword and a man willing to stand next to her in battle. I can be that man for her, I can show her she can be her own dark knight.

First, read the trigger and content warnings. Mental health isn't a game and yours is always more important than a book.

Wow.... This one was amazing. Samuel(Valor) meets Sylvia at school. He falls, one problem, she has a complication. His 18th birthday party leads to a wild ride for them both. Fast forward, he's her savior. FAST FORWARD a good ways, can he be that savior again? I still sit here, thankful for the chance to read this book, to know these characters, and thankful the family lives on in the upcoming book Liliana.

Warning, tissues, the epilogue will gut you, but make you smile, because love is hard, but it's SO worth it.

This is the first book I’ve read by Whitnay. It was so good. I didn’t want to put it down. This was about Sam (valor). He was in high school played on the football team. He had a dark life after losing his mom. On the first day of the new school year he met Sylvia. They were in pretty much every class together. She had a bodyguard named Nick. He drove her everywhere. Sylvia told Valor that she was married. He didn’t know the reason until later. Her husband was not a nice guy. But her parents had a contract drawn up with his father that they needed to marry at 18. Neither of them wanted it. He took her to Valors party and they went downstairs to the basement where the exciting stuff happened. She didn’t know what to expect. She wanted to stay but her husband didn’t. She convinced him to stay and she laid on the bed with her husband and was kissing him. She had been drinking. So Valor walked up to her and asked her if she wanted to participate she said she did. So her and Valor hooked up while she was lying on her husband that she was forced to marry. Everything changed for her at that moment. She ended up staying with Valor that night and then she and her husband and bodyguard Nick left that next morning. Her and Valor became really close and she didn’t want to be with her husband or family. Valor told her he would take care of it and he did. One day she got mad at him because he took her meds away. He thought he had solved everything for her with her parents and the marriage. She ended up leaving his house and running away back to her parents house. She disappeared for over 10 years. He looked for her everywhere. She ended up being committed to a mental hospital because her parents told the doctors that she was schizophrenic. He found out later that she was still married to him. He put her through a lot. I will definitely read more from her and if you like the darker stuff this is definitely a good one to read

First off please read to TW for this book, as there may be some content matter that some readers may find distressing. On another note, I will say that to truly appreciate this book you need to read it, what I write will not do it justice.

Whitnay Edes has written once again another fantastic book, but let me point out that you will need tissues on the ready. This story has so many levels to it that to truly appreciate the depth the author has went to in writing this book you honestly have to read it. Whitnay has dealt with a few different subject matters within this book with our main characters and also are sub characters that nothing seems forced, everything flows together. Not once you do you need to sit back and try to understand what is happening – our story flows through various degrees of self-understanding, self-awareness, self-growth and so much more that you cant truly appreciate the time that Whitnay has put into this story.

Can a playboy ever stop being a playboy!!!! What happens when someone new, someone enticing shows up at his school and sends his head and heart in a spin. He knows that she is his but why is she married, she isnt happy and that is obvious, but why him and why now. Valor knows that she is his and all he has to do is learn what she is hiding and get her own board. Join us at Whitnay brings us on the story of these two and the problems that they encounter, will they get their HEA.

I do not want to say to much more about the actually story as I feel that this will give away to much of what is happening. But let me say that your heart strings will be pulled, you will be out for murder and will want more and more from Valor and Slyvia.

Wow! Just wow! What a fucking book!

This is the second book I've read by Whitnay and I'm in awe, like how the hell does she do it? She just sucks you right in and has you by the throat and on your mother fucking knees, Just begging for more. She captives me, I'm sucked into the incredible world she creates, making me feel like I'm apart of their story, like you belong there.

It's an incredible emotional, heartbreaking rollercoaster ride, that has so many twists and turns you don't see coming. I was gripped from the start, on the edge of my seat needing to know more, I just couldn't put it down.

It's packed with so much, angst, heartbreak, suspense and loads more.

I absolutely love whits writing style, the way she writes her characters, the plots and storyline is amazing. The journey she takes you on is just purely incredible. My heart broke for the fmc, she had been through so much. I just loved these two.

I loved reading every minute of their story. I can't wait to see what whit has in store for me next. Highly recommend!!! 10/10 for me !!!

Where to begin...

Valor is our MMC's nickname. And it's very fitting for him. I can see the appeal and love for him as a person. He's sweet, has good morals but will also do what needs to be done to protect people he loves and to abide by his "rules".

Syl is our FMC and she's troubled. What she goes through is heartbreaking. I could never imagine going through what she did.

And when they come together, Valor is so sweet and caring and she's healing 🥺 I for sure teared up at the end end. I read this book so fast.

This was a good read to refresh my palette. I even read it at work in between meetings and during my lunch break. I loved the storyline, but I also felt like it was so rushed. I couldn't connect with the characters and I wish we got a bit more.

There were parts where my jaw DROPPED at the twists. But again, would have loved a little bit more of the story in details. To have felt like I was immersed in the world.

Thank you so much for the arc opportunity!

This is the first book I have read by Whitnay Edes but it definitely wont be the last. This book will take you on a wild emotional roller coaster, your heart will break, your anger will rage and your mind will be blown with the twists you never saw coming all in the form of an intriguing story you wont be able to put down. This is a book you truly need to go in blind to read and I am so glad that I did. Valor and Sylvia are two soul mates who lost so much time together. Valor meets Sylvia and is immediately taken by her. He will burn the world down to protect her. Sylvia has had little choice in her life and when she finally sees something good that can be all hers, her world is once again turned upside down. I don;t want to give spoilers so all I will say is you need to read this book you wont regret it. I can't wait to read more by this author. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

This is a past/ present story. Begins in Highschool, senior year. 18 year old Sylvia was forced in a marriage with another 18 year old, she didn’t want to be married, especially to Carlisle. Valor is one the schools biggest football stars with a broken home and a dad that’s absent but abusive when he shows up. Valor and Sylvia have all classes together and their first meeting was……interesting. Valor ends up being Sylvia’s first time while she just happens to be laying on top on Carlisle at Valors house party. Sylvia gets hit at a football game and Valor saves her from more harm. Valor invites her to move in with him and she gladly does. She goes out one day a few weeks later and is hot on the head and kidnapped. Then it is 10 years later after Valor has went to school for psychology. She had been locked up for 10 years in a mental home. Valor helps her see the truth about him, herself, her parents, and Carlisle.

Review:

I apparently am in the mood for books that put me in my feels. Valor , is another book that had me in my feelings.

Valor and Slyvia, our two main characters, have both been through it with their parents. Together and by themselves, they have gone through so much. The strength of these two characters alone and together is out of this world.

Valor was another great read by Whitnay Edes, and I can't wait to continue to read more from this author!

*I received this as an ARC, and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review*

Beaten. Broken. Bonded.

First off... you need to get this book!!!

Secondly, this is the first book I've read of Whitnay's and I loved it! I'll definitely be reading more soon. The characters were relatable, deeper than surface level and their emotions were real. My girl Sylvia goes through a lot of horrible, stupid stuff, some of it will break your heart. Valor never gave up even though he'd gone through his own things. The first part of the book is set in high school (they're seniors and eighteen) but then it flashes forward ten years. It will break your heart and build it back up just to break it again... but it is a mostly HEA

Lastly, if you have triggers, please check the TW's at the first of the book.

First of all, I LOVED Valor. And I felt so deeply for Sylvia. There was plenty of emotion brought into the book, and some of it was difficult to read. I also loved the idea of the storyline. The only problem is that it felt rushed. I don't know that it needed to be longer, I just felt like if it was developed a little more it easily could've been one of my favorite reads. It was easy to care for their friend group and feel the emotions they felt throughout the book. I felt like I was watching a movie and had to stay up and finish it. I'd definitely recommend this book.

First, always, always, always READ the TRIGGER WARNINGS.

I read this book in 24 hours. I couldn’t stop reading it. I was hooked through the entire story. Valor may seem like he’s going to suck at first but he turns out to be a great character.
I hate the crap Sylvia went through but I think it made her stronger.

The end of this book SHATTERED my heart!

If you’re looking for a dark romance book, that will give you a plot twist and a story to follow with some smut, this is the book for you!

READ YOUR TRIGGERS!!!
If you want a Dark romance book that has plot twist, but keeps you on your toes but a great story to keep you engaged this is it!! The book should’ve taken me less than 24 hours but I also have kids!! I hated having to put it down! Sam aka Valor it’s a dislike to love character. Sylvia (love her)) she went through a ringer, but it makes her strong. Honestly such a good read ugly recommend it!!

How can a book break your heart... put it back together and break it again??! I had so many feels as I read the book. The torment that Sylvia goes through. The love that Valor has for her, and the heartbreak after he finds her 10 years later. I absolutely adored (and hated) the ending. It was perfect, even though I definitely shed a tear or two!

Wow. Incredible. Just loved this book. Valor and Sylvia have been through so much individually and together. Sylvia is so sweet and loving. Valor is so protective of Sylvia. They both have been through so much by their own families. In the end love will find there way back and win. This is my first book from this author and I will definitely be reading more from her.

This book is going to stick with me for quite some time. 🥺❤️‍🩹

ALL the emotions. I was so immersed in this book and its characters. Valor has my heart. He has good morals, “rules,” and fiercely loves and protects those closest to him.

My heart ached at a number of points but, geez, the ending wrecked me.

Tropes: touch her and die, dual povs, found family, grief, second chance, toxic parents, psychological dark romance

Triggers: abuse (physical + mental), s€xu@l a$s@ult, talk of losing a child, talk of su!cid€ attempt, being drugged into submission

ANother fabulous book from Whitnay Edes. When I say Whitnay knows how to write dark, emotionally, traumatizing books, you'll need to believe me. She hits the nail on the head in so many aspects. Valor digs into so many areas - arranged marriage, mental health, self understanding, and the list goes on. Be sure to read the TW as always.
