As a current member of the bloods i feel its fitting that i should review this novel. Lets put asife thr borderline rasist illustrations and subliminal messaging and talk about BC scatterbones. What does bc stand for?? and why did she make the imporveished gang members cleen up after themselves. Also why dif they mske him so fat that seemed jnewssiary. it bad and j font like jt. dont read to your kidss unless they arw privedage snd yound.

Tyrone and his swamp gang are out to cause trouble. They vandalize the town and victimize several classmates. His final nasty trick ends up backfiring and no one wants to be friends with Tyrone. A very good story to open discussions about bullies and the dangers of being a follower. I use this book with my students to have those conversations and teach everyone about respect and self-worth.

The moral of this story is Be Good To Your Friends. Tyrone was a naughty dinosaur and he learned a lesson. This book will be helpful for kids under 6 they will learn how to be in school.

When I read this book, all I could think about was actual gangs like the bloods. They had the bandanas and everything. It seemed like an extremely watered down story about the dangers of joining a gang, but I think the real underlying intention was to alert kids about bullying and that what goes around comes around. I also always liked how the characters were dinosaurs. Lots of kids have a fascination with dinosaurs, particularly little boys, and this might help catch their attention more effectively.

Tyrone is one cool dinosaur! I have really enjoyed reading these books and wish they had been around when my boys were young. Bullies, cheaters and practical jokers need to be ignored when they force you to do what they want you to do. Hans Wilhelm's stories and wonderful illustrations give a jumping off point for conversations with children.
