Faith Bold #10

So Smitten

Rate this book
When victims are found murdered in the vicious world and bad neighborhoods of street dog fighting, at first glance it appears to be gang violence. But as FBI Special Agent Faith Bold looks deeper, her K9 German Shepherd, Turk, at her side, she soon realizes that amidst this violent world a different type of killer is lurking, one more maniacal than any she could expect…

FBI Special Agent Faith Bold doesn’t believe she can ever return to the force after the trauma she’s been through. Suffering from past demons, she feels unfit for duty and content to retire—until Turk walks into her life. Turk, a former Marine Corps dog, wounded in battle, suffers from his own demons. But he never lets it show as he gives everything to Faith to get her back on her feet. Each are slow to warm up to each other, but when they do, they are inseparable. Each is equally determined to hunt down the demons chasing them, whatever the cost, and to watch each other’s backs—even at the risk of their own life.
A page-turning and harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured FBI agent, the Faith Bold series is a riveting mystery, packed with non-stop action, suspense, twists and turns, revelations, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.

Faith and Michael are assigned to cases where the victims are killed by a specialized shock collar with metal spikes, slipped around the victim’s neck and then the collar delivers high voltage that kills!

Finding this killer is going to put them and Turk in grave danger, and is going to lead them to them to a dark underworld that they can not even begin to comprehend.

So Smitten is book 10 in the Faith Bold series by Blake Pierce. No one is listening to FBI Special Agent Faith Bold that Dr West was after people close to her, even after the death of an old army buddy. However, it does not stop her boss from sending her and her partner, FBI Special Agent Michael Prince, to another case involving the death of two people who at first sight were not related. Another frustrating case for Faith and Michael to unravel to find the killer. However, this case will change the FBI Special Agent Faith Bold forever. The readers of So Smitten will follow FBI Special Agent Faith Bold and FBI Special Agent Michael Prince's investigation to discover what happens.

So Smitten is another fantastic book by Blake Pierce, which I enjoy reading. I want Blake Pierce's writing style, which also ensures that I engage with the characters and the story. So Smitten kept up the tradition. So Smitten got me thinking about the cruel world of dog fighting and its impact on the dogs.

I love Blake Pierce's portrayal of his characters and how they intertwine with each other throughout this book. So Smitten was well-written and researched by Blake Pierce. I like Blake Pierce's description of the settings of So Smitten, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

I recommend this book.

The Copycat Killer (Dr West) has killed an ex boyfriend, Marine friend of Faith's, in California. The search is still on and Faith makes a list of any and all of her friends she ever mentioned to Dr West so the FBI can offer them protection. Faith begs David to go away again but he refuses.
Faith & Michael get a new serial killer case involving the Syndicate in Atlanta. They begin to get clues about a dog fighting ring that might be involved in the killings. This book was really good & involves Turk in helping with the takedown. The ending makes you beg for the next book to get here! Thanks, Blake Pierce for these books!

Still as fresh on book 10 as on book 1. The characters are flawed but interesting and add to the depth of the plot. I can't say I liked the subject matter of this story, hate anything that has any animal abuse in it but it ended with the perpetrators handled. Left with a real cliff hanger and of course need to read the next in line as soon as possible.

The story is a solid 3.5-4.5 star book. This is true for the entire series.

But it gets an automatic one start for using an AI audio narrator instead of getting an actual narrator to save money or whatever. There are tons and tons of narrators out there who are just starting, good and don’t need a paycheck for their work. Many work off audiobook sales or even credits (I know from experience with said narrators.)

AI “art” is lazy and a theft of real people creating art.
