I started out ready to put the book down in chapter one because I did not think Dr. Mercola was taking bird flu seriously. However, as I read on, I found his points about factory farms breeding and spreading harmful microbial matter and vaccines over-use harming our immune systems to be highly plausible. Who makes money when the solution to global disease is clean water, better sewage handling, and good, real food. Dr. Mercola emphasizes that avoiding illness begins with being healthy. Not easy. Not simple like popping a pill or getting a shot.

Read the part about kimchi curing chickens with bird flu. Awesome!

Author spent more time discussing health, diet and exercise than the controversy of H5N1 transmission between birds and humans.

I really got into this book at the beginning, tons of information not only on bird flu but how the drug companies lobby the government to scare the heck out of us ordinary folk so we will buy into the "miracle vaccines" we all must get to survive this or the next scary flu or bug that comes along. info on what types of foods we really should be eating for better health, really just tons of very good info but I lost my train of thought in the middle of this book and never got it finished. I am rating it as if I did cause I do believe this is a book everyone should attempt to read.

When the title promises a look at why there never was a pandemic of the avian flu, even though the media tried to make us think one was coming and would destroy us all, I expect the book to do that. Instead, except for a little bit early in the book, this is a book designed to convince people that traditional medicine is, at the very least, not as good as the industry wants you to think.

Now I don't quarrel with what Dr. Mercola says. A lot of what he says makes sense. A lot of it applies today, to the kung flu pandemic (by now, of course, there is no more pandemic - the disease is endemic, like the regular flu) But I opened the book to learn about the avian flu matter, and the book just doesn't deliver on that point.
