Frostfall Island #6

Candlelit Calamity

Rate this book
A menacing winter storm is forming in the Atlantic Ocean and Frostfall Island is in its path. Anna St. James and her quirky boarding house family are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. There are candles and flashlights and firewood if the power goes out. As much as Anna dreads a bad storm, she’s looking forward to a few cozy days locked inside with her favorite people and most especially her favorite guy, Nathaniel Maddon.

The storm brings ice and wind and utter chaos, but the Moon River boarders are hunkered down and safe. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone on the island. Four women arrived for an ill-timed weekend reunion at one of the island’s top rentals. When one of the women is murdered, Anna is called to sort things out. The storm has cut the island off from outside help, and now there’s a killer on the loose.

This installment of the Frostfall Island series was the best yet! The winter storm descending on the island and trapping everyone on it gave a very creepy, claustrophobic atmosphere while still maintaining coziness, thanks to the wonderful family of characters that are central to this series. Of course, the addition of a murderer on the island added to the closed circle mystery vibe and enforced the importance on reliance on Anna and her “team” to save the day!

Only thing it was missing was more of the storyline about her first husband!

I love the frost fall series! If you haven’t read them, put them on your TBR list! Anna St.James is the main super sleuth and she is awesome! I love her character and all of the characters at the boarding house. I am also enjoying seeing her relationship with Nate progress.

Her and Nate teamed up to solve this murder on the island. Norwich is a menace and I do not like him.

Another great book! I can’t wait until the next one

We're back on Frostfall Island and things are heating up. But not really because there's a big winter storm with the island in its crosshairs. Which translates to big wind and lots of snow and rain. Which wouldn't be terrible because the people who live on the island can handle it, but it does cut the island off from the mainland until the storm blows over.

So when a murder takes place during the storm, it's absolutely up to Anna (and her trusty sidekick Nate, who has some pretty decent experience when it comes to solving crimes) to figure things out. Between the ice and cold and their desire not to muck up the crime scene before the mainland police (along with the not-so-great detective) can make it out to the island.

A wicked storm, some island solidarity, a group of friends with secrets, good food, stormy sleepovers, and a murder that has Anna working hard. Frostfall Island is ALWAYS a fun place to spend some time. Even with (or maybe because of) all the people who end up dead.

I absolutely love the Frostfall Island series!
That said, this one wasn’t my absolute favorite so far. I really like the cover, and with the name Candelit Calamity I thought there might be a bit more cozy candlelight. I understand what happened during the storm.
But that’s really the only thing I can critique! I love Anna and Nate and the Moon River crew! And the island is small, so everyone seems to know each other and support each other. It just gives you warm fuzzy feelings! Looking forward to the next book in the series. 😊

Another fabulous book by London Lovett! I love all these quirky characters and how the fit together!! So many twists and turns and oh so full of suspense!!! I was trying too guess who did it and then I would think nope ruled that out and on to another suspect only to put my first back on my list, but I was still surprised and loved it!!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!!!

Frostfall Island adventure

I enjoyed this book. Anna again has a murder to solve, and it occurs during a terrible storm on the island. Cut off from the mainland by the storm, the murderer believes it will be easy to getaway with the crime. Not so fast, murderer! This storm setting is so cold I needed to wrap up in a blanket!

Fun Read

Another fun read from London Lovett. The characters are fun and quirky. When Anna St. James runs into not one but two murders on Frostfall Island, she doubles her efforts to solve the mystery with the help of her friends! It’s always fun seeing her outsmart the bad guys and the “professional” (toothpick and all) detective.

Another great book in this series. Anna is starting to learn things about her deceased husband and whoa, things are getting interesting, as it appears he wasn't who she thought he was. Her boarders are all unique and interesting characters. Anna is one fierce woman. I love her. I'm enjoying seeing her relationship progress. There is so much to this series that I'm enjoying as it unfolds.

Best book yet!

Anna is up to her neck in murder once again. A major winter storm blows in and cuts the island off from the outside world. Will Norwich arrive in time to actually solve the case? You have to read this series.

I like the twists in this story

What happened? Who killed the high school reunion members?
What was the motive? Can Anna solve this before the killer leaves on the ferry?

I need an island getaway

This book was so good I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t know who was responsible for what happened and that was the biggest reason I couldn’t stop.

This is another great book in the Frostfall Island series by London Lovett. There is another murder and the bumbling detective arrests the wrong person, again! This was a great read and I can't wait for the next book.
