An all-powerful mage, a fairy queen and a dragon were the last folk I thought I’d meet (and befriend) when I time-travelled. All the stranger, I couldn’t even remember what caused me to go back in time in the first place, that I was Kim Taylor—college student at Oxford, or that I had just met the love of my life…
And now, there’s Seth. He’s actually that same guy, but he’s different here. An injured knight. He was an olympic fencer back in college, on a scholarship, but he doesn’t remember that either, or me; or the world we came from. All he knows now is that he serves the King of Scotland, and my father betrayed that King!
Yes, I’m a traitor’s daughter – and my life is not something that Seth would think twice before sacrificing. He took me in the night, away from my father’s palace, and out into the cold, dangerous woods.
But there are two things that Seth doesn’t know: that like it or not, we’re destined for each other. And the greatest secret I had to keep back in college: that I’m not human.
Reut was born in Camelot in the year 1201, following the famous explosion of the northern dragon tower. She has a degree in fantasy and science fiction from the University of Atlantis and this record can be found in the central library, now twenty thousand leagues under the sea.
She likes phoenix riding, dragon fighting and painting the roses red.
I was generously given an ARC copy of this book for my honest review, and I was so grateful to be given the chance to read this book that I might not have read otherwise. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was very well written. I loved the whole premise of going back in time, and it kind of reminded me of a book I read in 8th grade, called Old Magic by Marianne Curley. But the whole plot was very intriguing. Going through college years and just life in general, honestly, is hard enough, but imagine having powers and having to hide them. But the added aspect of the love story between Kim and Seth was amazing as well. I couldn't imagine being in Seth's position of falling for a woman and then going back to the past only to have no memory of her, nor does she remember you. The whole book had me intrigued and guessing, and I was just in love with the whole thing! I can't wait to see what comes next in the Evans Witches series!! Many praises go to the author Reut Barak, and thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this book before its official release!
I highly enjoyed this romance despite this not being my typical genre. I am newish to fantasy romance but was lured in by the hints of an Arthurian Legend and Merlin Folklore infused in the story line. This had an interesting plot, and was an enjoyable fast paced read. The time travel element in this was so fun and the characters were witty and compelling. Everything from the cover, characters, storyline, and plot were on point! The story features several tropes including time travel, college romance, epic love, and magic. Overall, loved this read and can’t wait to continue the series!
Forbidden Road is a story of two college students transporter to the past. College is hard enough now imagine being sent back in time and becoming an enemy. Kim is hiding a secret while attending her last year of college and now in the past that secret is no more but she gains a new one. Seth finds himself pining for the beautiful girl and finds himself following her wherever she goes. This book gives us a present perspective and it takes us back in time also. Its a great read that give is hints of Camelot, Arthur and Merlin. It’s the beginning of a series and from the ending of book 1 I am excited for book 2.
Forbidden Road by Reut Barak is book one in the Evans Witches Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author and I’m so glad I did! I absolutely adored this story, I couldn’t stop reading. This was definitely a one more chapter type of a read, I finished before I realized how much time had passed. The writing was done really well and the plot was so interesting. I absolutely loved both of the characters of Kim and Seth. I really enjoyed reading their love story. I felt so bad for Seth at points. I could feel the emotions through the pages of this book. I really enjoyed everything about this book, I won’t give spoilers but the going back to the past was just so well done. The magic/having powers element but needing to hide was great. I also really enjoyed the hints of Camelot and Merlin that was in there. I can’t wait to read more from this author and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in the series! I definitely recommend giving this a read.
Reut Barak has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The characters in her stores are so believable and well-rounded and grow throughout the story becoming the people they were always meant to be. In this story, the first book of the Evans Witches, we meet Kim and Seth. I really love how the story went back and forth in time. Most of the time, I find that irritating when reading a book, but it really works in this one. There’s not only time travel but love and danger and magic and fairies and even a dragon! Can’t get better than that!
This is not like any other book I've read so I was pleasantly surprised of the twists and turns of events as it followed the story of our mc Kim and mmc Seth. I do have to admit it was a little difficult to dive into only from not reading something like this before, but once I understood it became difficult to put down! If you love magic and time travel this book is 100% for you. I can't wait to read the next one :)
I love Kim and Seth’s story. The tie in to Camelot makes it interesting, although at times I was slightly confused, I finally reached the aha moment at the end. I love how the characters are bound together creating an unbreakable bond of love that spans across time. I gave this 4 stars be as at times the writing was repetitive and I felt myself skimming. Otherwise, a fantastic mystical read.

I really loved this book! It has time travel, witches, fairies, dragons and more excitement then you can imagine. Kim and Seth are great characters, very well written and fleshed out by the author. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, romance or even mysteries. It keeps you guessing and I can`t wait for the next book!

No star review because I'd rate it under 3 and don't want to slam this indie authors star rating.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I struggled with this one. The premise was good and it could have been a great book. But the lack of character development, explanation of the magic system and lack of world building wasn't it for me.
A story about two college students transported to the past, facing new enemies. Kim hides a secret which she loses when sent back in time, now gaining a new one. Seth is infatuated and follows her everywhere. The book offers present and past perspectives, capturing my attention instantly.
What a delightful new setting for a wonderful time travel story! Taking the read to Camelot was interesting and fun for me! I Love this new world!!! No Spoilers!.

I love time travel stories! Kim and Seth were sent back in time by Morgan as they were being chased by ruthless witches that wanted to kill Kim and steal her power.
What a fantastic read I absolutely loved it I read it all at once couldn't put it down I recommend it , the characters were fantastic and the plot was amazing can't wait to start the next one a very well deserved 5 stars
Author's Review: If you ❤️ epic love, college romance, time travel and magic... It's all here: http://reutbarak.com/forbiddenroad/ Let me tell you about writing this one: The idea first came to me a few years ago, when I started writing a story about a witch and a Charge, who lived long ago in Camelot: Kim and Seth. That one went into the drawer. It was just a summer thing. A hobby…or so I thought. A few years passed. I came to Scotland, because I was drawn to the beauty of the highlands, and I stayed because I found love. During a walk along the coast, in my imagination, I saw a modern witch, Julie Evans. Her story started to unfold and I began writing Blue Diamond. The plot was linked back to my original Camelot book. The characters were related. Their magic had a history. I kept getting more and more ideas during hikes and when visiting old castle ruins. Without noticing it, I had created a universe—that of the Evans family of witches. The plan was set for two trilogies, covering the different generations. I wrote Julie’s story, but at the back of my mind was Kim and her story. This is that original story! And after all the tough work rewriting it (and some hard-to-hear criticism from my amazing beta readers and editors), it is ten times what I could ever dream. Kim and Seth, college students, have only just met. The spark of love between them, beautiful and passionate, has only begun. But they must go to the past, forget their identities and lose one another. Their journey back to each other requires them to make tough decisions in the past that can forever reshape the world of magic.
