Connor is my opposite in almost every way. I’m a bookworm; he’s a bodyguard. I have trouble speaking up for myself; he’s direct, brash even.
But the more I get to know my new pen pal, the more I see beneath the former navy SEAL’s tough exterior. He’s a hero, and he’s hurting. But he’s also so much more than he gives himself credit for.
It doesn’t matter that we live on opposite sides of the country and have never laid eyes on each other. We talk every day, sometimes for hours. Our attraction is undeniable, and our growing connection is becoming impossible to ignore.
But when Connor asks to meet, I can’t help but worry that our chemistry won’t be enough. That I won’t be enough.
* Undeniable was previously published as a 40,000 word novella, Unwritten. It has since been expanded to and reimagined to a full-length novel of over 70,000 words, though the feel of the story remains the same.
Jenna Hartley is USA Today bestselling author who writes forbidden romance that feels good, much like her own real life love story. Her stories feature strong women and swoon-worthy men, as well as sexy, sweet, and laughable moments that reflect real love.
When she's not reading or writing romance, Jenna can be found tending to her growing indoor plant collection (pun intended), decluttering (just ask her husband about "The Great Purge of 2015" as he calls it), and hiking. She lives in Texas with her family and loves nothing more than a good book and good chocolate, except maybe a dance party with her husband and daughter.
Olivia creates a program for soldiers called Spines for Soldiers, that assigns them an e-mail pen pal who they will read books with and discuss. Olivia is matched with Connor who is a retired SEAL and now works in protection services as a type of bodyguard. He goes a little too far, and is suspended. During this time he is told he has to participate in Spines for Soldiers. At first he is not a fan, and is even rude to Olivia. She gives it right back in her e-mails though and they end up hitting it off. They are pen pals turned more.
I really enjoyed the plot twist aspect. I thought it definitely added to the story and made sense in the plot. I wish it was prolonged a little bit though. It was resolved very quickly. However, I do understand that this is not a romantic suspense book so that is probably why. This story was really enjoyable. I liked their banter over email and eventually text message. I even can see how they would start to fall for each other before they even see each other. I just think things went really quickly once they met in person. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
3.5/4 stars
Thank you to the author for an ARC. All thoughts are my honest opinions.
I loved this Book and adored Connor and Olivia! They start off Pen Pals in a program there both connected too and although things start off rocky, a connection definitely starts to develop. Connor is a Navy Seal and Olivia works in publishing, she is also the daughter of famous parents- making dating rough as is.
The book was fun, fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. Even some action in it which I appreciate. I really enjoyed it!
My rating for this book is 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 stars due to the rule of halves and not having half star options for reviews.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it was a quick read and, a cute story.
Olivia works for a publishing company and spear heads a program for soldiers (Spines for Soldiers,) that match them with another reader and they buddy read novels together, while communicating via email. Olivia participates in the launch of the program and is matched with Connor. Connor is a retired S.E.A.L. and now works in personal protection services (think bodyguard.) He gets into a little trouble and is placed on suspension. Part of the terms or retuning to work are to participate in the Spines for Soldiers program. At first, Connor is adamantly opposed to having to partake in this buddy read system. After a bumpy start with Olivia, Connor falls in line and actually gives the program a shot. Connor and Olivia become friends and this is the start of their journey…
The plot was carried through the entire book and there was even a plot twist. I did however, find the content, including the twist, pretty predictable but it doesn’t make the story mean any less. It was a traditional take on a fairly conventional way of meeting, in current times. The support characters were pretty standard for a boy-meets-girl, boy-falls-in-love-with-girl type of story. There is the girls best friend, his friends and of course, the girls father. The ending is exactly what you would expect it to be.
I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.
I loved Connor + Olivia so much. The pen pal program trope was super fun to read and I enjoyed the connection they built. The tension, the angst, the chemistry was done so well I ate it up!
"You've told me a lot of things you aren't, but you haven't told me what you are," I said. "And even without seeing you, I know that you're beautiful."
Olivia and Connor are paired through the newly formed Spines for Soldiers program. It's an online service that pairs a person who is/or has served the country with a volunteer. They then pick books to read and chat about. Olivia is the one who started this program and since Connor got into some trouble with his most recent bodyguard job, he's now required to complete this program. They are paired and let's just say they don't get off to the best start. But soon they find themselves interested in so much more than just the books they chat about.
Undeniable is aptly named. These two MC's are drawn to each other before even meeting. And once they finally do meet, it's full steam ahead. I really enjoyed their banter, and connection. Despite being opposites they fit together so naturally. Supporting one another and bringing out the best in each other. Their love story is truly undeniable. With plenty of swoon, spice, and even a little suspense to keep you turning the pages.
I read the previous version of this story and I think that affected my perspective going into this one a little, since I loved it as it was originally when I read it. But what the author has added works for this story, and I am glad to have read both versions. Olivia and Connor are still favorites of mine and it was nice to get more of them. Be sure to check it out!
What You'll Find: ✔️Big City Romance ✔️Pen Pal Romance ✔️Love Sight-Unseen ✔️Opposites Attract ✔️Former Navy Seal ✔️Dual POV
*I received and ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and given freely.
'I grabbed a pillow, ready to pummel him with it. But he was too fast. He pinned me to the mattress, the pillow caged beneath me. "You forget who you're dealing with, sweetheart."'
Y'all, this is my first @authorjennahartley book, but I must say that she is an incredible romance author! Undeniable tells the story of Olivia, a Bookstagrammer who works hard for a publishing company to achieve her dream of healing through reading and Connor, a former Navy SEAL who is working at a high-profile security company. The unlikely pair is brought together by Olivia's heart project, Spines for Soldiers, which pairs current and former military members with a civilian partner to buddy read books with and talk to them about the novel in detail.
Originally, Connor is hard-pressed into joining as one of the founding SEALS when he gets injured on the job and his boss states that participating in Spines for Soldiers is mandatory if Connor wants to get back into the field work. What follows is a humorous exchange between Connor and Olivia over email until they discover they have an undeniable attraction and connection to one another despite never meeting. Everything escalates when Connor flies from New York to Los Angeles to help support Olivia in her Spines for Soldiers panel she's hosting to draw awareness to her program.
Olivia and Connor have a sweet but sexy romance in this story which includes military romance, age gap romance (he's 31 and she's 26), book lovers romance, instaconnection, and a protective main male character. I absolutely adored this book and cannot wait to see more of Connor and Olivia in one of Jenna Hartley's other books. This book is an easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read for me! I loved their chemistry, banter, protectiveness of each other, and the fact that it is a positive age gap romance with a passionate book loving female lead. There are triggers to domestic violence being mentioned and one of the characters speaks of rape as well, if those are triggers for you then feel free to ask me to describe their appearance for you, as they do not happen between our two main characters.
(I received an electronic ARC copy of this book for an honest review.)
Guys secret pen pals is one of my absolutely favorite romance book tropes and in Undeniable THEY’RE SECRET PEN PALS OVER BOOKS THEY’RE READING TOGETHER?????? Sold! I was so excited to get this ARC from Jenna Hartley- this might be my favorite book by her. It was so cute and spicy and just all around a really fun read.
Olivia works for a publishing company and proposes a new community activity, Spines for Soldiers, where readers are paired up with soldiers to buddy read books to help with recovery for veterans. When Olivia is paired with Connor while he goes through rehab, she must deal with his initial resistance. However, they soon begin discussing the books they read, leading to a bond to form. When they get the chance to meet and see if this virtual chemistry is real, I was so excited to see how their relationship was going to grow. This book was super cute, a fun and easy read, and I was rooting for Olivia and Connor the whole book. The pen pal trope is one of my favorites and I really enjoyed how long they stayed pen pals and the growth of their friendship/relationship even before they met. Such a fun read!
I couldn’t put down this fun, fast-paced spicy romance.
I adored the cute “pen pal” theme, add in the bookworm element and I was smitten. Olivia works for a publishing house and spearheads a buddy reading program for soldiers. While recovering from an injury and under investigation for his actions as an executive protection agent, former Navy SEAL Connor is required by his job to participate and is matched up with Olivia.
Connor gives the perfect grumpy, broody attitude. I loved the way he started to fall for book-loving Olivia. The development of their relationship through email, text, and later phone calls was delightful. The two fit together perfectly.
I loved the chemistry, banter, and Connor’s protective possessive nature.
The pen pal aspect was a lot of fun balanced with some depth. Both characters have wounds, emotional and physical for Connor, which are addressed.
There is a perfect balance of swoony and steamy scenes and a slight dose of suspense. There are mentions of topics that could be triggering.
This is a standalone with a HEA, but Olivia's dad does have his own age-gap book. If you’ve read other Jenna Hartley books there is a fun little Meghan Hart and Alondra Valley Easter Egg.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I loved Connor and Olivia's story! This book was fast paced and had me completely hooked from the very beginning! The spice and chemistry was everything it should have been and the road to their HEA after overcoming their obstacles made for a great story, as well as that twist that I never would’ve seen coming! Overall, the story was written perfectly and I loved how the reality of their relationship was portrayed and how they went through their hardships to get to the position they’re in now and I look forward to reading more of Jenna’s work!
I loved how the two of them met and the start of the relationship between them. I met my husband online, so I always enjoy reading stories of people who met in somewhat similar situations as me.
Both characters were great, and the chemistry between them was exciting. I loved seeing how their relationship grew. It was really well-written and relatable.
Such an incredible story, one I definitely recommend.
This is an arc review provided by the author compensation was received. This book was really good, and I loved How the characters Relationship progress throughout the story I can't wait to read more from this other and figure out what happens next with the next couple or set of characters that she writes.
I’m so bummed it went from a novella to a full length book. I think as a novella I would have loved it so much more. I wish we had more emails and texts before they went to phone calls especially since they are said to be “Penpals”. I liked the characters but didn’t love them. It just kind of fell flat for me.
This was a cute, fun, fast-paced story and I enjoyed every minute of it! I haven’t read many books with the pen pal trope and it was amazing to see the connection Connor and Olivia built just with their words.
The connection between these two was beautiful and I loved how drawn they were to each other. Their banter and chemistry were everything!
Undeniable is the fourth book in the Love In LA series by Jenna Hartley. It's an opposites attract military romance, and it's the first book I've ever read by this author, so I was really surprised by how much I loved it. I loved the whole premise of the story, and the writing was excellent. The way this author tells Connor and Olivia's story had me immersed from beginning to end and I absolutely cannot wait to read more by this author. In the meantime, this one is highly recommended with more than five stars!
"Undeniable" by Jenna Hartley is a heartwarming and emotionally charged military romance that explores the power of human connection, love sight-unseen, and the transformative nature of a pen-pal relationship. The story is a beautiful example of opposites attracting and two wounded souls finding solace in each other's words.
Olivia, who, on the surface, is vastly different from Connor, a former Navy SEAL and a bodyguard. The contrast between their personalities and life experiences adds depth to the story and creates an intriguing dynamic between the characters. The author skillfully develops their individual traits, making their journey toward understanding and acceptance all the more compelling.
The "pen-pal romance" element infuses the story with a unique and captivating premise. Their daily exchanges allow readers to witness the deepening emotional connection between the characters, transcending physical distance. It's a testament to the power of words and shared experiences, emphasizing that love can flourish even before laying eyes on one another.
Connor's status as a wounded hero is a poignant aspect of the story. His emotional struggles and vulnerabilities make him a multifaceted character. The portrayal of his emotional journey and the healing power of love adds depth and authenticity to the narrative.
The undeniable attraction and growing connection between the characters are portrayed with great sensitivity and nuance. Their chemistry is palpable, and readers will find themselves rooting for this couple as they navigate the challenges and insecurities that come with meeting in person for the first time.
The expansion of the novella into a full-length novel allows for a more in-depth exploration of the characters and their relationship. Despite the added length, the story maintains its original charm and emotional depth.
"Undeniable" is a tale of love, vulnerability, and the transformative power of human connection. Jenna Hartley's storytelling shines in this heartfelt military romance, making it a must-read for fans of the genre, especially those who appreciate stories of love developing through written words and the profound impact of a pen-pal relationship. This novel is a beautiful reminder that love knows no physical boundaries and can conquer even the most challenging of circumstances.
Whenever this author announces a new book I always get so happy! From the first mention of this story I knew I had to have it in my life! I started looking forward to it from that point on. I got right into this book! I really enjoyed it so very much!
Olivia and Connor's journey pulled me in so fast! These two are brought together when they are paired through Spines for Soldiers, a reading pen pal program. Olivia absolutely loves books and Connor does his best to protect others. The more Olivia and Connor chat, the more feelings bloom between these two. Can they go from pen pals to something more?
Right from their very first exchange, Olivia and Connor had me so invested in them and their story! I so enjoyed the refreshing way that these two were brought together and getting to see how their pen pal relationship would play out. I was so glad that I got to peel back Connor and Olivia's layers and get their real. I didn't know what all to expect in their story which had me even more glued to my kindle!
From things in her life to her adoration for books, Olivia was so relatable to me. Connor had me falling for him, especially with how he was all about Olivia and how much he cared. The chemistry between these two was so beautiful, blushworthy, and utterly fantastic! Their connection truly shined all throughout which I so loved! Both Olivia and Connor got right into my heart and stayed there!
Sometimes taking a chance and opening your heart can be two of the scariest things, but oh so very rewarding which shined through Olivia and Connor's journey!
With Undeniable, Ms.Hartley has created such a wonderful and breath of fresh air read that kept me turning the pages and my heart feeling every bit! This author and her books get right in the heart every time and oh did Olivia and Connor's story do exactly that! If you haven't checked out her work yet, you so need to change that! I can't wait to read what she brings our way next! 💙📖

*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
I’ve just recently found Jenna Hartley and this is my third book that I’ve read by her. I’m happy to report that the writing that I loved in the previous books is right on point in this book and I’m absolutely in love with Olivia and Connor!
I love that this book is built around the bookworld and that the heroine, Olivia is a somewhat shy and reserved young woman that’s life has been anything but normal given who her parents are. The relationship that she has with them, one of her parents more so than the other, definitely reverberates in how she feels about herself and my heart hurt for her. But I also connected with her on a very personal level because I heard a lot of the same things Olivia did while growing up. I was giddy with excitement for her when her project Spines for Soldiers was put in motion to connect current and veteran military personnel with readers, for a pen-pal type relationship.
Connor is a former S.E.A.L. currently working in executive protection that’s going through a mandatory suspension due to events from his last assignment. In order to be considered to come back to work, he’s ordered to participate in the Spines for Soldiers program and his initial introduction to Olivia is less than flattering. But I LOVED Olivia’s response and how they turned that around and quickly.
As the story progresses, these two wounded, externally and internally, people find solace in their daily emails, that progressed to texts and to conversations. I adore how Connor was able to see Olivia for who SHE is and not who she’s related to. And that’s not an easy task either. Olivia is rightfully wary, but this man has niggled his way into her heart just as she’s embedded herself in his.
This is a wonderful read that is at times, sweet and sexy. It revolves around trusting others with secrets that have never been revealed and there’s a little suspense to this story that I wasn’t expecting that brings everything full circle.
Connor is ex-navy seal that is now working as a bodyguard, he a bit problematic on the job which has caused him to get suspended. With this he is forced to participating in a program called spines for soldiers. He is not happy about this at all and the relationship between him and his reading partner starts of rocky to say the least.
Olivia is the creator of spines for soldiers. She works for a publishing company and wants to do something to give back to the soldiers. She is paired up with Conner and when she gets the rude message from him she types out one of her own and accidentally sends it to him.
Connor immediately gains respect for Olivia for calling him out on his non sense and so begins a pen pal sort of relationship where they go back and forth talking about the books that she recommends. Its starts of tame enough and then things start to heat up with some romance picks.
Connor finds himself opening up to Olivia and talking to her in a way that he hasn’t really done before and Olivia is coming out of her shell and blossoming into the woman she wants to be.
The story was good and moved at a good pace. I didn’t feel like they fell for each other too quickly, but instead they got to know each other and became comfortable which then helped them form a relationship.
The plot twisted was super unexpected and I don’t really think was needed in the story, Olivia and Connor already had so much they both had to work on internally and with each other than it seemed a bit too much but I guess I can understand that Connor also needed it for his story to move forward and show growth and change in him for his career.
This was a good story, the only thing is I felt like I couldn’t connect to the characters the way I usually can with this author's characters. Idk I really wanted to like this book and I did really like the premise, idk it just didn’t work for me the way I thought it would have.
AHHHH THIS WAS SO GOOD! I love an epistolary style story anytime! Throw me all the epistolary recommendations you have, I’m down for it! I love how Olivia and Connor developed their love from being mere strangers bonding over books, through emails, text messages and phone calls. I was squealing internally non-stop as I read their conversations over emails and texts, all the flirting and testing of water. Ahhhhhhhh it was so fun! I especially love how Connor was so eager to know her more and to meet her in person. The build up to their meeting in person made even me nervous! I was nervous like a girlie going on a first date! LOL.
I like how the story didn’t just end hastily after they make it to meet in person (some of the other penpal romance I’ve read ended like that and it just felt like I’m not getting enough out of it). So, I would say the story is really developed quite thoroughly.
Although the author does not go deeply into details on the topic of domestic abuse, but I appreciate that she included some brief psychoeducation on how victims’ reality could be like. I was looking forward to see what Connor’s father said in his letter to him. So, I was abit sad that it was not elaborated on 😢 But I shall respect and accept Connor’s wishes on this 😂
I love all the twists and turns of the story, and was kept engaged throughout. At some parts of the story, I kind of guessed how it would go (you know the typical way how stories like that go) but I was surprised that I was wrong. The plot was not cliché, and that kept me invested. Super intrigued to know that the next book is actually Olivia’s father’s story! I downloaded it, and will likely get into it when I’m in the mood for an age gap romance 😊
I have loved everything I’ve read by Jenna Hartley and I loved this one too! “Undeniable” is a fun, sweet, steamy strangers to lovers romance with a plot twist that I loved.
Olivia works for a publishing house in LA where helped develop a book outreach program aimed at soldiers. She’s paired up with Connor, a former Navy SEAL who is currently sidelined at his civilian job after a knee injury. Connor is grumpy and upset that he’s out of work temporarily and is not a fan of the program. Having a successful report from the program will be part of his rehab to get back to work. The two clash at first via email but soon find a common ground while discussing books. And as they spend more time talking, a chemistry between them starts to surface.
I loved the synopsis and plot of this story. From strangers to lovers who met via a book outreach program is such an original idea. Olivia is so sweet, genuine and I loved her right from the beginning. She has a big heart and it shows with her developing this program. Connor is such a grump at first and I love a good grumpy/sunshine relationship. He had some trouble from his last assignment and he let that get to him. Him becoming friends with Olivia helped him break down those walls. She didn’t let his grumpiness get to her and she matched him toe to toe which was the best way to get through that. They progressed naturally from friends to lovers and I loved them being able to connect in LA so that they could see if more was there. The steamy scenes were so good. The plot twist thrown in had my jaw dropping and I loved the action of it. The ending was so sweet and I can’t wait to read more from Jenna Hartley.
Very cute and sweet read. I have never read a pen pal romance until this one, and it was definitely an interesting change. This is one of those stories where you cannot base your attraction on just the physical. Given, they had no idea what each other looked like. Which is refreshing.
Each MC has their own problems/issues/insecurities- which hey.. who doesn’t? Connor was great. Even with his deep seated fear of him turning out to be like his abusive father. Which you will clearly see - he is nothing like.
Olivia is and wants to make her own way in the world.. without people seeing her as just a famous football player or actress’s’ daughter. With this comes her insecurities with the feelings of people not wanting to get to know her for her - but just because of who her family is. Not to mention, the constant feels of her mother trying to change the way Olivia looks.
Therefore, when she was paired with Conner, she reveled in the fact that this person didn’t know who she was, let alone, who were parents were. This giving her a chance to be herself after the awkward first interaction, and someone potentially wanting to get to know her and not getting close because of her parents.
But the real question is - once they have finally met, how would their budding relationship work given Olivia is against long distance relationships? To me, Olivia didn’t put much thought into it. She went with what she would have always done and didn’t take into consideration what this could mean for the two of them. But of course, events occur that quickly change their tone.
✨ pen pal / online romance ✨ love sight unseen ✨ former navy seal ✨ wounded hero ✨ bookworm and bodyguard
The tropes are what drew me to this book and once I started reading I was completely hooked. This was my first book from this author so I didn’t know what to expect but now it won’t be the last, it was so good, I will definitely be reading about Olivia’s dad because… hello 😉
Olivia and Connor meet through Olivia’s newest project Spines for Soliders, an online service for the men and women who serve the country, where they bond over their books and form a sweet online friendship that turns to something more, but the two live on opposite sides of the country. Once they finally meet it is pure fireworks, and I was so here for it!
This was so enjoyable, emotional and relatable! Olivia is a lovely, beautiful soul who has her insecurities and when Connor comes along, he is just what she needed! He’s protective and caring and always makes her feel beautiful and worshipped! Olivia is also perfect for Connor, she helped him be vulnerable and talk about his problems. Both of them have great character growth, and you can’t help but love them together. I was smiling from their first interaction and the suspense just made it even better, things were going to well and I’m glad something happened to shake things up a little!
Jenna Hartley always knows how to bring us a amazing story with beautiful characters who you will root for to get their HEA. And Connor and Olivia’s story is not exception. Things to look for in this book:
Pen pal romance ✔️ Bodyguard romance ✔️ Former navy SEAL romance ✔️ Possessive, alpha MMC ✔️ Quiet, bookworm FMC ✔️ Love sight unseen ✔️
After getting injured and going against protocol, Connor’s job has forced him on leave to recover and one of his required tasks is a program called Spines for Soldiers. Where a soldier is matched with a civilian and they read and discuss books. This is not something that Connor is interested in, and he makes that known.
Until he reads his first book and realizes just how wrong he is. Through the program him and Olivia email back and forth about the books until it becomes much more. And once their communication moves over to texting, which is strictly prohibited in the program, they both know that they are crossing a line into something more.
And when Connor comes to visit, they instantly realize that what they have is something real. But how will they make it work when they live across the country from each other?
I loved these characters and their authentic connection so much! Without ever having seen each other, they formed this completely genuine bond and were able to be open and honest in a way that they never would have been in real life and I loved that.
Now I am definitely interested in Olivia’s dad story so I’m going to need to go back and read that one!
Previously published as a novella called Unwritten. And has been reimagined and expanded, which is this book. I have never read Unwritten. This will be my honest review purely on this book and NOT comparison.
I had been looking forward to reading this book. It contains all the tropes that I love.
The email line in the book "Dear Connor," made me think of a song from Dear Evan Hansen (musical) called Sincerely, Me.
"How can the male lead be so possessive with the female lead? They have never met. They are pen-pals through the veterans' program." This was a text message that I sent to a chat room. My real and honest reaction towards the book.
"My life had definitely been interesting lately. I was taking a vacation for the first time in years. To meet a woman I’d only ever spoken with on the phone. A woman I was extremely attracted to, despite never having seen her. And I was quite possibly falling for her. Falling for her? I pushed that thought away." - Connor
Once I read the book and ate dinner at the same time lol 😂
Connor and Olivia, their interaction via text messages and emails was so funny 🤣 Although, they have yet to meet each other at the beginning of this book, the chemistry and connection were there.
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶.5
Tropes:
💖 Pen-pal romance 💖 Former Navy SEAL 💖 Bookworm & bodyguard 💖 Love sight unseen 💖 Opposites attract 💖 Wounded hero
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for the review.
Connor and Olivia are such a great couple, l loved them, and the way they meet and get to know one another is so different and unique. Olivia organises, with the publishing company she works for, a Spines for Soldiers reading program and is matched with Connor as a reading pal. We meet Conner at a difficult time in his life, he had just been suspended at work pending an investigation on top of being injured, been sent to mandatory counselling, and was dealing with a dying parent with whom he had no relationship, so to say he was not thrilled about being paired with a goody two shoes and forced to read and communicate his thoughts on the book was an understatement. And while they got off to a very rocky start, they overcame their initial thoughts of each other and steadily built a relationship moving from emails about books, to constant texting and then daily phone calls, all while never having met. It was fun and flirty, and I loved that for them they had the chance to get to know each other without the filters of for him, the drama at work, and for her, through the lens of her famous parents. And then they get to meet... the steam factor escalates to off the charts hot! Ms. Hartley always writes such great characters, and Conner and Olivia swept me up in their story and carried me along so effortlessly. I loved that they weren't one dimensional, both had their struggles to overcome, and we get to see their journeys, bringing emotion and depth to the story on top of the fun and sexy times. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
UNDENIABLE is an addicting read that asks the question: could you fall in love with someone, sight unseen? Orderly, timid Olivia, a marketer at Igloo Publishing, spearheads a Spines for Soldiers program that pairs military veterans with civilian reading partners. Her own partner? The impulsive, hot-headed Connor, who is on leave from his Hudson Security job after an incident lands the company in trouble—and leaves him hurt in the process. Though resistant to each other at first email, Olivia and Connor eventually find common ground through the books they read together, and form a deep bond in the process. When they finally have the opportunity to meet in person, will their bond—and the attraction they feel for each other—translate to real life? Or is believing "it could work out" only the stuff of fairytales? UNDENIABLE was originally published as a 40,000 word novella (called UNWRITTEN). Complete now at 70,000, the story has been expanded and some plot lines have changed, making it a new reading experience for any previous reader. I absolutely loved witnessing Olivia and Connor grow together over the course of this novel, and become the best versions of themselves. A really beautiful, heartfelt story that had me grinning from ear to ear. Thanks to the author for sharing an ARC with me in exchange for an honest review!
Olivia lives in California and her parents are famous. Her dad is a retired hall of fame NFL player and her mom is an actress. She is tired of everyone treating her differently because of her parents. She has been working really hard into initiating a new program a work where veterans will be matched up with a reading buddy. She is in hopes this will help the veteran. Connor lives in New York is an ex SEAL who now works in private security. He is hot headed and jump I to action before thinking. This caused him to be suspends while the smoke clears. He had to attend therapy as well as participate in reading buddy program, both were mandatory. To say he was not happy would be an understatement. When Olivia sent her first email to Connor he was annoying and replied harshly. After getting her response to his email she didn’t know what to think. Because he had nothing better to do he decided to pick up the book she wanted him to read and before he knew it he was done with it. Now he is wanting to talk to someone about the book. The only person he knew who he could talk to is Olivia. He decided emailing her and apologizing for how he acted in the first email. I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down. I love the chemistry between Olivia and Connor. Jenna did an amazing job with the story.
This story got me again. 🥹 Connor is such a wounded hero. As we meet him he suffers a knee injury that leaves him being pulled from active field duties to recover.
He has many past demons he’s trying deal with, which leaves him as a liability. As part of his recovery he’s placed in a pen pal, reading buddy program where he meets Olivia.
I loved Olivia the whole time. She is a curvier heroine who dealing with some self worth. Living in the shadows of famous parents we watch as she is learning to be boldly herself and stand up to and for what she wants.
I loved the pen pal aspect. His negative first response back to her🤭 That lets us see Olivia be bold for the first time and also learn that standing up for one’s self can be a positive thing.
The longing and angst these two give us is perfection. How He falls so hard for her even before seeing her😍perfection. When they do finally meet and the heat they put off🥵perfection.
Meeting these characters two years ago started my love for Jenna Hartley, but I completely enjoyed them this second time around with all the changes and expanded version.

"Undeniable" by Jenna Hartley is an engrossing military romance that masterfully melds the elements of pen pal love, opposites attracting, and a wounded hero. The story follows Olivia, a shy bookworm, and Connor, a former Navy SEAL turned bodyguard, showcasing their seemingly incompatible worlds.
What truly sets this book apart is its profound exploration of the intimate bonds formed through written words. Olivia's correspondence with Connor peels away the layers of his stoic facade, revealing a heroic, self-doubting soul. Despite their geographical divide, their daily exchanges kindle an irresistible connection that transcends distance.
Jenna Hartley's expansion of the novella into a full-length novel allows for deeper character development and emotional richness. Readers are immersed in the evolving relationship between Olivia and Connor.
The suspense surrounding Connor's proposal to meet in person adds an electrifying dimension, leaving readers to ponder if their chemistry can survive the transition to real life.
"Undeniable" is a must-read for military romance enthusiasts. It eloquently portrays the enduring power of love, proving that even the most profound connections can be born sight-unseen. Jenna Hartley's storytelling prowess shines in this tale of connection and healing. A remarkable addition to the genre.
Olivia is a book lover working to make her own way in publishing outside of her famous parents’ spotlight, and initiates a program to pair soldiers with readers in a pen pal arrangement to provide an opportunity for connection and escape. It’s through her program that she is matched with Connor, a former Navy Seal turned Executive Protection Agent, who is enrolled after a client assignment has gone wrong. Their connection is undeniable and they may have even fallen already, but can their relationship exist outside of emails and phone calls?
This was such a fun read with an exciting touch of danger! I love that so much of their relationship developed through their pen pal relationship and how their chemistry really took off once they finally met and had already laid the groundwork. I also loved how much Olivia glowed and grew in her self confidence when she was with Connor. Connor is such a caring, protective hero that never rests in making sure that his people are safe and Olivia is an excellent match for pulling him out of the places where he can spiral under the weight of it all.
